We need this hospital. This is a lifeline for so many people. Without it people could die try to get to the nearest hospital an hour away ie Naas or Tullamore. Government needs reminding that two thirs of population live outside Dublin

The thought of not having close access to a&e services is terrifying. I'm 27 years old, a mother and carer for my grandmother, with my own heart being investigated in Portlaoise at the moment. I know from personal experience how absolutely essential Portlaoise a&e is. I honestly believe these cuts back WILL COST LIVES and I hope everybody does all they can to stop it.

I don't think people should be put at risk, or even be in danger of dying because they are being relocated in an emergency situation, believe you me I know ,the very same happened here in ennis, and now limerick emergency A&E is a joke.

The answer is not downgrading. Government need to see it's staffing shortages and funding that is required. All A&E s are reporting patients on trollies, where are the going to put patients from the Laois area?

I was born in Laois in 1953.
Why would the Powers that be, just not employ enough Staff to keep this hospital running smoothly. Huge money spent on Tullamore hospital and Portlaoise totally forgotten about.I'm totally disgusted.So the HSE is just going to run Ambulances up and down the motorway to Dublin or over to Tullamore.what a waste , when the money could be spent on our HOSPITAL.

HSE Fine Geal and labour should be ashemed of themselves. pushing services to other hospital will in turn cause problems for those hospitals., so where does it end.. FINANCE HOSPITALS PROPERLY. SAVE THE SERVICES AT PORTLAOISE

In the last National Census it was confirmed that the population of Portlaoise had increased threefold, instead of The HSE taking this information into account and increasing supply to deal with the increase in demand, it did nothing but demand staff on all levels to try and provide a quality service with No additional.support of any kind.
LAOIS people should stand up for what they want .

A friend of mine had to go to A+E at Portlaoise Hospital early this week. He arrived at 10pm there was over 20 people in front of him he got seen at 2-50am and they want to close this A+E. Do not get sick between 8pm and 8am.If people need A+E now they will have to go to Naas,Kilkenny or Tullamore which are 40KM from Portlaoise. Its a Disgrace our Politicians should go on the front line and picket for this Horrid decision to be changed..Martin Doyle

If they close the a and e in portlaois what will happen if there is an emergency in the middle of the night. It is approximately three quarters an hour from my house to tullamore. God forbid if there is an emergency what will happen? It would be an absolute sin if the close it.
