Hi All,

Last week Mrs Doak, Deputy Head was handed the result of our petition, which gained just over 80 signatures. To date Mrs Doak has not responded to this, however it was requested that the petition is shared with the school Governors. We will now await a response before considering our next action.

Many thanks

UPDATE

2014-05-09 12:31:20

Mrs Dokes has agreed to inform all parents, about her reasoning for making the decision to close the school gate on Forest Road.

Having had a discussion with Mrs Dokes, she informed me, that there is not  one specific reason for her decision. Neither has a specific review, of the Forest Road Gate been carried out. However, 'as fresh pair of eye's at the school', Mrs Dokes informed me that 'she has highlighted several potential risks with regard to the back gate entrance'.

Mrs Dokes states that 'the front gate will be manned each day and the issue of safety, at the front gate will be monitored and reviewed accordnigly'.

Our petition continues to grow and it has been very interesting to hear parents views, worries, possible solutions and concerns. Therefore, next week I intend to inform Mrs Dokes and the School Governors of the numbers opposed to the plan.

Mrs Dokes, also stated that 'there had been no time to consult with parents as the decision was already made'. However, Mrs Dokes does want to work with parents and the community to ensure that Gwyn Jones is a safe school.

Thanks everyone for getting on board with this petition. I will keep you updated!
