Join our Fairer Funding Campaign North Somerset Times

SICK of seeing services cut and want to see extra cash for North Somerset’s education system and hospital, and more police on our streets?

For decades the district has been given a raw deal in terms of grants from central Government for these vital services – so here at the Times we think it’s time to take a stand.

In partnership with our sister paper, the Weston, Worle & Somerset Mercury, we are launching a new campaign to win North Somerset the funding it deserves.

There are four main areas in which it traditionally loses out compared to other local authority areas – these are health, education, council and policing. In other words, frontline services used by people every day.

In the past four weeks, the Times revealed just how North Somerset is getting a raw deal to the tune of tens of millions of pounds every year.

This campaign is an opportunity to speak up for North Somerset and add your name to a petition which will force David Cameron to take notice and give us a fairer deal.

We have teamed up with North Somerset MP Dr Liam Fox, who is already working with a group of MPs who believe more rural areas are underfunded, and Weston MP John Penrose, who has agreed to take the signed petition to Downing Street himself.

If you want to join us in lobbying the Government, sign the petition in this week’s paper and share it with your friends and family.

Send your completed petitions to The Fairer Funding Campaign, North Somerset Times, 32 Waterloo Street, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 1LW.
