STOP TRASHING OUR BUFFALO CITY METRO

You have hit the nail on the head. Public Servants are paid by tax payers and rate payers to SERVE the people who pay them and the poor. They should serve the public from the overpaid mayor to the lowest paid worker. At present, not many are doing so. We are fast heading towards what has happened to countries to the North of us.

This is causing a health hazard and it looks disgusting all the mounds of rubbish all over our town. It is strange how as rate payers we are constantly barring the brunt. If the municipality don't clean up should we stop paying for the services considering they aren't being rendered!!!

This needs to Outsourced to a Private Company as this town is disgustingly dirty at all times. They do not deserve a bonus as you never see them on the streets etc.

Our city is bleeding and we the residents must apply pressure for it to stop bleeding.

This is pathetic, we pay R156.00 pm for the fetching of black bags once a week, and this cant even happen. Outsource our refuse removal immediately, its the only way it will work, the majority of the municipal workers spend half their day on tea breaks and lunch as they are unsupervised or given specific targets to meet.

An absolute disgrace. I would like the BCM to consider firing all the striking workers and outsource the collection of garbage and the strikers should be grateful for their jobs!!!!! In the current economic climate there are so many unemployed people who would welcome an income. Its a disgrace and the vandalism is an embarrassment. They should be ashamed of themselves.

The BCM Rubbish collectors already get a 14th cheque - when they come around with their Christmas "donation" forms. I would love to know how much this brings in for them. Perhaps this year the citizens of BCM should "strike" and not pay them a "donation"?!

Someone above mentioned seeking legal advice about a rates and services boycott. I fully agree. Are there no prominent business people out there who are also fed up with the way the city is run and decaying? These incompetent BCM clowns need to go, or be forced to provide services that the citizens and businesses pay for. Or are we all going to sit back and see what transpires?

While the workers have every right, and seemingly a very good reason, to strike, this should not be interpreted as the right to trash streets, highways and roads.
Non-striking citizens of BCM have a right to enjoy the facilities they pay rates and taxes for.

Get the prisoners to clear the refuse. I've seen prisoners being used before to clear the roadsides near the airport - about 4- 6 months ago. Why can't BCMM use them again to clear the refuse?
