keep the resource classes

Children with special needs need more teachers in smaller groups ... they must be educated properly and not be taken up in the normal mainstream education.

All our kids need a fair chance! to receive education in an environment that is condusive to their challenges.. round blocks cannot fit in square holes..

We cannot ignore children with special needs. Specialised education is essential to assist them to develop optimally to be able to function best they can in society

Children with special needs have the right to be accommodated in an inclusive environment where THEY CAN RECEIVE THE NECESSARY SUPPORT. Parow Inclusive School offers this support.

My daughter is a resource teacher and I work with people with intellectual disabilities

My son is in this school and is one of the kids in a resource class. Since he's in the resource class he's a new person! He's got new confidence, self worth and dignity!

It's an injustice to these children and they need all the support they can get.

I work in a school which tries everything in its power to accommodate children who learn differently and have a passion for these wonderful children. I scribe for tests/exams whenever possible.

Because everyone is entitled to education irrespective of race or mental state of mind!

Every child has a right to basic education and if they cannot manage normal tuition they need special tuition.

I have experienced that learners who can't cope in the mainstream drop out of school when they are not accepted in a school of skills. It takes a special educator with lots of passion and patience for these learners, to work with them. They are truely a blessing to work with and are often much better mannered with more self confidence than LSEN in mainstream because they are able to cope with the work load and level of work. Currently our education system are failing these learners. Put them in a place where they can feel self worth and excel in what they are good in.

There is a serious need for specialised education for children with special needs. All children have the right to an education.

My son Matthew has Cerebral Palsy and also needs special schooling. To take away this classes would deny children their equal rights to an education.

It's a very good cause. This is important.

I am vice principal at an private Elsen School, and I know how big the need is for schools like Parow Incl.
Instead of closing down these classes, the WCED should open more if it!!

Even parents of very privileged children battle to get extra funds for help for their kids...if this funding is cut - many kids will just go without the help and never be able to reach the success in life that is within their grasp whilst they are getting this help. I happen to know one of the speech therapist working with those kids and it is superior quality help the kids are getting - we need to keep it that way. Just sign - it is easier than supporting jobless people!

I signed this petition because I have a daughter with Special Needs. Although she is not mentally compromised and I'm confident she will cope in a mainstream school, there is still alot of predujice and stigma around disabilities and learning disorders. These children are excluded and discriminated against and it is unacceptable! We need to instill an attitude of 'acceptance' and 'equality' within our homes and schools. Education is not something our children should have to struggle with and fight for - I'm currently having difficulty placing my child in a Daycare! People hear the words "special needs" and run a mile...

This is 2016, not 1920 where such children and adults were locked away in Care Homes (often abusive ones) and viewed as Taboo and treated like some dark and shameful family secret!

Open your hearts and schools!!!

If the education dept removes LSE they'll do this country a great disservice and we'll regress by centuries.....

I signed because I have seen how special needs children suffer in the normal classroom and I have seen how successful Parow Inclusive has been with their inclusive teaching!

My grandson is autistic, and they will get lost in the system, frustration not being able to cope, this is very unfair to the kids with special needs

My son is a high functioning autistic child. It would affect his future education. These children have special needs. This may expose them to bullying and teasing as well. This is very concerning as a parent of a special needs child.

The children need these specail classes as there are so little places catering for specail needs children, please don't let these classes go!!!!
