This asset needs to be saved for future generations. Our green spaces are important for pit mental health and the railway will inspire children to become tomorrow’s engineers.

Robert Fish (Southampton , 2023-03-04)

#604

This railway should be kept for the people and future generations that have and will continue to use and enjoy it. Please don't let it go for redvelopment

Helen Daye (Swansea SA4 3QH, 2023-03-04)

#606

I used to ride on this train as a child and even got to drive them on occasions. Such fond memories, would love it if my own children could one day do the same.

Stuart Rigg (Hemel Hempstead, 2023-03-04)

#613

I think it would be a great loss to Rugeley, yet another thing to lose!

Jayne Langley (Rugeley, 2023-03-04)

#614

Model engineering keeps steam and trains alive along with engineering skims for the future. It would be perfectly situated next to new housing to encourage the next generations but not if half of it is taken away leaving the society with a shell of its former self.

Adam Cro (Eastbourne, 2023-03-04)

#617

Being a member of this society I can see the impact the threat of loosing part of this railway is having on the members, in particular those who built it.

John Dutton (Rugeley, 2023-03-04)

I know what pleasure this brings to local residents

Edwin Shermer (Uttoxeter, 2023-03-05)

#644

It’s part of Rugeley

Laura heathcote Heathcote (Rugeley, 2023-03-05)

The facilities provided on the old power station site need to be kept. This miniature railway is an absolute gem and should be preserved for the children of the future.

Terry Hawkins (Rugeley, 2023-03-05)

#649

That railway brings pleasure to so many and in this day of austerity it’s a bright spot.

Tessa Riley (Rugeley , 2023-03-05)

#650

I saw this being built and used by my fellow power station workers. The dedication and effort that has gone into building this brilliant attraction for rugeley. Please don’t get rid of it!!!

George M Crozier (Rugeley, 2023-03-05)

#651

I think this is a brilliant attraction for the area. It's one of the longest of It's kind and is run by a brilliant team of mostly pensioners who go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

Paul Wiltshaw (Stoke-on-Trent , 2023-03-05)

#654

The railway is worth saving

John Lycett (Rugeley, 2023-03-05)

I worked at Rugeley Power Station for a long time and the model railway is a stunning piece of engineering which has made many children happy over the years.

Jason Meredith (Hednesford, 2023-03-05)

#659

It’s important to keep this going due to its popularity.

Janice Bates (Burntwood, Staffordshire, 2023-03-05)

#660

Items like this are so important to the wellbeing of those who run and maintain them (my ex-colleagues), as well as for the enjoyment of those whe see and ride them. Once they're gone, they're gone!

Scott Brumby (Kings Lynn, 2023-03-05)

#661

I think it would be sad to lose this for future generations

John Circuit (Buckingham, 2023-03-05)

#662

As an active member of a local club I believe that a miniature railway provides a lovely afternoon out for local families, and a great antidote to mental stress for all the members involved. To have this taken away after 35 years is criminal.

Colin Edmondson (Northwich, 2023-03-05)

#663

I really like model railways and my husband is a member. So is my Dad and my brother. With all the houses they are building it wouldn’t hurt to leave the railway as it is. And it provides a wonderful amenity.

Rosemary Knight (Stafford, 2023-03-06)

#664

Rugeley is losing everything and this needs saving!

Steve Sedgley (Rugeley, 2023-03-06)

#667

This MUST be saved!

Wilson David (Wrexham, 2023-03-06)

#670

Its very cool and important. We didn't know we had one localy, we have seen and had a ride on one down south and we loved it. Rugeley one needs more promoting and we are sure it will then get much more popular!

Natalia Swietlik (Wolverhampton , 2023-03-06)

#671

I don`t want to see the Railway reduced to a shadow of its former self just for the sake of a profit margin, after its taken 30 years of toil and dedication by dozens of members past and present to arrive in its final condition.

Paul Strudwick (Burton-on-Trent, Staffs, 2023-03-06)

#673

Need to preserve all lo 😎cal amenities

David Thorp (Stafford, 2023-03-06)

#675

These historic miniature railways are such fun and have educational value by introducing youngsters to engineering.

Brian Kingett (Leicester, 2023-03-06)

#677

I’m signing in support of this miniature railway as I believe it benefits those that use it at all levels, both those that enjoy riding on it and those that run it. It would be a wicked shame to see it go under the bulldozer.

Kevin Owens (Cannock, 2023-03-06)

#678

We need to protect our village fun

Lynn Wood (Stafford , 2023-03-06)

Julje Green (Rugeley, 2023-03-06)

#680

I believe this will provide valuable experience for people of all ages. I remember this railway being built in the 1980s.

Ken Bloor (Dursley, 2023-03-06)

#682

Memories need to be made and children need to enjoy the outside not on computers all day and night we need more things for the children and adults to do in Rugeley

Richard Thompson (Rugeley, 2023-03-06)

#683

It is important to have variety not just soccer pitches and swings in public places. Taking this facility away will affect mentally all those that have built and maintain this facility.

Roger Day (Nottingham, 2023-03-06)

#687

I live near Rugeley but have no connection with the miniature railway at all. It seems to me however that this is a wonderful piece of history that provides all age learning, community interest and old fashioned FUN! It should be retained in its current form. The developers could work around this and it could actually be a selling point for the houses. Generating community spirit is crucial to any area and as such should be an important part of this development. Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. It’s unique!

Sindy Bostock (Rugeley, 2023-03-07)

#688

Because it’s a great facility and should be kept by the community.

Neil Betts (Traralgon, 2023-03-07)

#689

I have been a member of this Society for over 30 years. It has one of the best tracks in the country.

Barry Barnett (Wolverhampton, 2023-03-08)

#701

I work at the station & i've known these boys for a long time & great bunch of lads they are...They put in lots of time, effort & money of their own in looking after this model railway...Leave their railway to them & others who may visit.

Kev Southall (Armitage, 2023-03-08)

#702

I used to go on this railway as a child and I know my 3 year old daughter would love to go on it in the future when it’s open to the public.

Steph Hassall (Rugeley, 2023-03-09)

#703

It would be lovely to keep

Eryn Reed (Rugeley, 2023-03-09)

#704

I have good memories of visiting this as a child

George Witheridge (London, 2023-03-09)

#706

This really is a hidden treasure. Where love hard work motivation and dedication has gone into this railway. It should stay so it can be treasured by generations to come our heritage.

Susan Roper (Rugeley, 2023-03-09)

#708

The railway has been in Rugeley for a long time and brings pleasure to so many people. Why should we lose something else to make way for housing etc.

Mary Edmonds (Staffordshire , 2023-03-10)

#709

This is a great facility, and with the right environment around it would be a real benefit to the housing estate around it. It would provide a club for those interested, which is a great social benefit, as well as something for families to enjoy a ride on.

Peter Gully (Stafford, 2023-03-10)

#710

We need to save the past not bury it below housing, give the railway a chance. I am sure you have enough land and money to alter current plans for redevelopment.

Steve Gardiner (Leicester , 2023-03-10)

#711

I'm signing this because I love the railway community and they have helped me through thick and thin. I love the railways as it gives opportunity to lovely people with great enthusiasm for trains and engineering.

Reece Ruckledge (Wakefield , 2023-03-10)

#712

Model engineering performs a valuable role in keeping people active and provides social stimulation. It also keeps desirable STEM skills within the population.

John Pagett (Birmingham , 2023-03-10)

#714

Miniture railways are a treasure to society through the pleasure they give and the experience of engineering to children.

John Mathews (John Mathews, 2023-03-10)

#715

The area needs this attraction, and there's nothing else like it in the area. It is a great asset to the members, in being a meeting place, and promotes engineering for the children.

Ken Grubb (Nantwich, 2023-03-10)

#716

I wish to see the Society keep all its current land.

Ian Murray (Tarporley, 2023-03-10)

#718

Heritage railways are part of our culture and should be saved at all costs. These attractions are vital for our mental health and bring communities together. Please don't destroy them!

Andrew King (Knebworth , 2023-03-10)

#719

I am an enthusiast.

Ges Gilbert (Tamworth, 2023-03-10)

#720

This is a great community asset and the thought of it being lost to a developer - and actually being cut in two is distressing. There is a lot going on at the club allowing the members to get out and about and enjoy company together which is massively important for health reasons. Especially those guys who are on their own.

Andrew Spiers (Market Drayton, 2023-03-10)

#721

I am signing because I fully support the minature railway at Rugeley in its present location. Any further development at the site must include the railway in its present form.

Nick Carton (Sutton Coldfield, 2023-03-10)

#722

They have worked so hard and put so much into getting it going again

Robert Duffill (Birmingham, 2023-03-10)

#723

Things such as this give great pleasure to Adults and children alike, housing developments aren't quite as entertaining. We are losing heritage sites such as this by the bucketful, especially in this area with HS2 blighting tye countryside.

Boyd HOWELLS (Tamworth , 2023-03-10)

#725

It is important to keep public attractions not cut them.

Tamsyn Ashton (Rugeley, 2023-03-10)

#726

I support the miniature railway and believe it is an asset to the community.

Phil Ashworth (Manchester , 2023-03-10)

#727

I strongly believe this Model Engineering Society site should be pressrved for future members and visitors to enjoy both young and old. A fantastic group of dedicated people who dont deserve to have the society track they work hard on taken away for housing etc.

Tim Hines (Mold, 2023-03-10)

#728

Because I want to save the railway

John Machin (Rugeley, 2023-03-10)

#731

It’s a beautiful track offering a lot of fun for engine owners and passengers alike. The club is also full of lovely people.

Christopher Macdonald (Lichfield, 2023-03-11)

#732

I'm signing because this offers social activity and entertainment, which is complimentary to the new development

Barry Nixon (Hitchin, 2023-03-11)

#733

It's a valuable asset to the community

Bryan Powell (Rugeley, 2023-03-11)

#735

It would be a great shame to lose this little corner of miniature railway engineering

Art Spicer (Paignton, 2023-03-11)

#736

We should not allow unnecessary overbuilding to ruin our landscape and ameneties

Erricker Nigel (Deal, 2023-03-11)

#738

I remember when the lads built this railway, I was one of the many Rugeley people who helped in a small way during the construction. It's a great set up which would be an asset to any community and it's about time that developers recognised this and stopped putting profit before anything else

Phil Hearnden (Lichfield , 2023-03-12)

#739

I enjoy the railway, the members here have put so much work into developing the site, it needs preserving for future generations.

Dave Beaman (Birmingham, 2023-03-12)

#740

Rugeley and Brereton need every leisure facility they can get. The people who created and maintain this facility deserve the public's support for their endeavours.

Phil Deakin (BRERETON, 2023-03-12)

#741

The members of this club have spent years building it and enriching the local area and supporting charities and other clubs around the country. It is a local treasure and should be kept as it is.

Alexandra Nikolli (Pelsall, 2023-03-12)

#742

This is a service that has been long standing in our community for a long time and it should not be removed.

Teresa Lea (Rugeley , 2023-03-12)

#745

Leave them alone that bit of land won't make any difference in the build

James Brookes (Rugley, 2023-03-12)

#748

I believe this amenity should not be lost to re-development

Robert Cornes (Loughborough, 2023-03-13)

#749

Places such as these bring and create many memories for generations to come
They teach and hone skills of all kinds from gardening and maintenance of the faclities to actually building the engines
I visted many years ago when Iived in the midlands. And while I live in the South west I am now a active member of my local club which gives so much back to the community in open days and events.

Antony Lowe (Westbury, 2023-03-13)

#750

This is an attraction that will not only appeal to the people of the Cannock area , but will also help with increasing the number of tourists to the area

Gary Murray (Cannock, 2023-03-13)

#751

The track should remain as is

joseph martin-smith (Birmingham, 2023-03-13)

I'm all for saving the things people enjoyed growing up with and so others can go on enjoying it's also a lovely area we live in and should always have some open spaces .

Lynda chambers (Rugeley Staffordshire , 2023-03-13)

#757

We want to keep our railway!

Kathryn Gittings (Rugeley, 2023-03-13)

#759

My dad is a member of this society and I know how passionate he is about keeping the track as it for generations to come, Rugeley needs this attraction as there is nothing around here for families to enjoy.

Lily Dutton (Rugeley, 2023-03-13)

#761

I choose to support this petition as i truely believe this model railway can provide both pleasure and education. I myself am a 38 year old engineering apprentice and can see how it would benefit people of all ages. For some it would bring a general pleasure, for others like myself the technical aspects and details of the engineering that has gone into this project are fascinating. From what i can gather the railway goes through a proposed park area. This is the same as the model railway through Kingsbury water park, and they have not only kept but expanded their railway by tastefully fencing off the track in appropriate and neccessary locations for safety, so why not do this instead, making the track a feature of the new parks for all to see.

It brings a lot of joy to people I know

Matthew Partridge (West Midlands, 2023-03-13)

#764

Wildlife is more important than short sighted over development.

Our wildlife has been 1000,s of years in the making and at most people live no more than 85 years which is a blink of an eye compared to the loss of habitat.

Kast Kevin (Stowmarket, 2023-03-14)

#765

I believe it to a valued asset to the the local community, run by dedicated, and respectable Model ENGINEERS .

David Kinsella (Manchester , 2023-03-14)

#766

This is large miniature railway that runs through varied landscapes without being obtrusive and gives/has given enjoyment to young and old.

Stephen Barfoot (Rushden, 2023-03-14)

#769

I love the miniature railway used to go as a kid and it's a great spot to remember the power station as it has had a massive impact on rugeley and the lives in it my grandad worked in the power station for 20yrs

Hodson Ryan (rugeley , 2023-03-14)

#771

I would love to see this opened for Rugeley residents and others to enjoy. Didn't know it was there, what a good attraction to have

jenny DUNHAM (RUGELEY, 2023-03-14)

#775

It’s important to keep activities for local people otherwise the area becomes soulless

Carrie Felgate (Rugeley , 2023-03-14)

#776

I think it is such a valuable amenity that such an entity would be terrible to see it destroyed or diminshed in any way ,many children have not seen a steam locomotive or had the fun of riding behind one ,here is the real thing .There is so few methods of entertainment in the area and if this is squashed not just an amenity is lost but the peaceful hobby of these enthusiasts will be lost. Matt Jeffery Pennsylvania USA

matt Jeffery (Sciota, 2023-03-14)

#777

My Dad knows the man who built it and remembers the time and effort that went into it. Rugeley has very few attractions and it will be a Shame to see it go.

I have many childhood memories of this. It is magnificent engineering and opportunity for celebration of engineering when the power station site has gone!

Sarah Salisbury (Brentford, 2023-03-14)

I'm signing this because too much heritage is lost to developers making a quick buck, without looking at the impact this has had on generations past, present and future

Paul Deeming (Warrington , 2023-03-14)

Ian Mottram (Lichfield, 2023-03-14)

#795

I feel it’s very important to keep this for the community and the members now and to come. It’s important that communities have things like this to go, it also ensures our lost engineering skills are passed on which is something our King is currently promoting.

It’s also a positive step for mental wellbeing.

Gareth Hawkins (Rugeley, 2023-03-14)

#797

Loved this as a child

Rachael khan (London , 2023-03-14)

Claire Bradbury (Rugeley, 2023-03-14)

#799

I never knew about this the whole 20 years i have loved in Rugeley.
This will be amazing for the children of the public, including my boy who is 7 and is a train fanatic! That much he has been on the flying scotsman. He would absolutely love this, and so would many children years to come.
