Holly Hagg is such a wonderful resource for our local area.

Seeing the lovely alpacas on my daily walk lifts my spirits. The community farm looks after them so well with shelters so they can keep out of the weather in the summer and winter.

I sincerely hope you allow them to continue doing what they do. We need more places like this, not fewer.

Chris Taylor (Crosspool, 2023-02-04)

The discreetly sited structures are integral not only to the well being of both animals and the volunteers but also the smooth operation of Holly Hagg.

Susan Cottrill (Sheffield, 2023-02-04)

This is fantastic community of volunteering people, who do an wonderful job to help vulnerable people and general public interact.
The structures aren't fit for purpose and the replacement would only serve as an advantage for the alpacas and hay store.

#39

Holly Hagg is such an amazing community space and privides support and enjoyment for lots of people.

Deborah Kelland (Sheffield, 2023-02-05)

#40

I believe Holly Hagg is a vital resource which is benefitting lots of people through the various activities and projects it runs. These could not take place without somewhere to shelter, stabling for livestock, storage of equipment etc. As a valued environmental project their impact on the surroundings is always taken into consideration and their responsibility is taken seriously, so I know that any structure or building will always be assessed sensibly and nothing unnecessary would be built.

Barbara Bristow (Sheffield, 2023-02-05)

#41

helen ward (Sheffield, 2023-02-05)

#42

This is an outstanding project which has enhanced this area for a long while. The planned developments are not only necessary but will surely be in organic harmony with the landscape.

John Gallacher (Sheffield, 2023-02-05)

#45

Holly Hagg is a huge asset to the community. The variety of animals, the variety of planting, willow, fruit trees and bushes, the restoration of the land - it has steadily developed over the several years I have been involved both as a visitor and a volunteer - safe, weatherproof storage of animal feed etc is essential. Please grant the necessary planning permissions.

Mair Richards (Sheffield , 2023-02-05)

#46

I love having this on my doorstep. I love walking or driving past and seeing the animals. I help out on an occasional basis in inclement weather, it gives me personal pleasure and satisfaction to be able to help sustain this community farm.
I also love that the public can participate on alpaca walks and that it gives opportunities for children/adults with disadvantages as well as children born with advantages. Animals are a great leveller

Micah Shaw (Sheffield, 2023-02-05)

#57

Holly Haggard enhances the area educate people on sustainable land use and provide volunteering oppertunities and the structures on the site are discreet.

Mark Hill (Sheffield , 2023-02-05)

#59

This established, volunteer supported venture that serves a broad spectrum of social and personal needs for its visitors, also needs support. The existing usable stables and food growing areas are discrete and fit in with the rural surroundings, so should not be a planning issue.
The aged wooden structures will need replacing over time and planning permission is clearly required. Granting this would allow replacement of structures that, without being replaced, will eventually become unusable and an eyesore. Please permit this improvement plan.

Michael Holmes (Sheffield, 2023-02-05)

#63

The work that (not-for-profit) Holly Hagg does brings immense joy and happiness to so many sections of the local community. Particularly to people (young and old) with autism/Special Needs etc who go on the free therapy alpaca treks and connect with these beautiful gentle creatures.

The community farm benefits people's mental and physical health which is so important - particularly at the moment with the cost of living issues.

The animals need their shelters to protect them from harsh Winter conditions and also from Summer sunshine/ heat. Obviously, hay and other animal feed also needs to be stored in a dry place.

Of course planning permission should be granted for these unobtrusive and necessary buildings on the Holly Hagg site!

Jill Ruby-Gordon (Sheffield, 2023-02-05)

#65

I live locally and I support their application Flor planing permission.

Una Moran (Sheffield, 2023-02-05)

Claudette Ohara (Sheffield , 2023-02-06)

#133

Holly Hagg is a unique resource and example of permaculture design and values that integrate the needs of the community and the environment. It shows what can be achieved in a city. I worked with Grow charity for a couple of years supervising young people doing horticultural work experience on an employability skills programme. They got far more than skills development. They marvelled at Nature and they felt welcome, a sense of shared ownership and community there. Holly Hagg should be assisted in any way possible to continue and develop all aspects of their fantastic work.

Susan McHale (Sheffield , 2023-02-06)

What Claire and the rest of Holly Hagg do is a massive asset to the north of England. I'm signing this because without these sheds/structures Holly Hagg would not be able to upkeep the very high standard of care for the alpacas (and Llama) as well as growing their own vegetables to be more sustainable.

#148

Holly Hagg is an absolute gem! On an open day last year it was such a treat to feed the alpacas. We wandered around the farm and had a very interesting chat with two teenage volunteers who were full of enthusiasm for the place. Then we sat by the pond and listened to excellent live music before browsing in the little shop. Although it was an open day, the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. The site is senstively laid out and seems to function very effectively. Clearly, a lot of time, energy and love has been expended on it. It's essential to have these spaces where people can get away from their usual routine for a while, spend time in nature and do something completely different.

Tina McKevitt (Sheffield, 2023-02-06)

I'm signing because Holly Hagg is a vital part community project, has a huge impact of the mental health of its customers, and looks after male alpacas who otherwise would have been terminated. Sheffield City Council might want to re-think this sort of action and how this might be perceived by the local community. Especially during a Cost of Living Crisis being felt by many Sheffield residents.

I'm signing because this farm is one of the top activities to visit in Sheffield according to trip advisor and is an asset to Sheffield. The farm and its structures blend in very well with the surrounding areas and the staff there are very conscious of the local environment. It provides educational and mental health benefits to a wide group of people and encourages physical activity. It is essential, in a city that is slowly declining, that this community farm is granted the permission it requires to enable the amazing work it does to continue.

#200

Holly Hagg is a vital service to our area. It provides education, green space and a community base for everyone, children and adults alike, to learn about being in nature and with animals, about the environment and how to protect it for the future.
All the structures put in place so far are necessary for the tasks undertaken within the green space and have been constructed sensitively in keeping with the environment. We as a community are very grateful for Holly Hagg having taken an unused field and transformed it into permaculture green space for our community to enjoy.
Holly Hagg also brings people from outside Sheffield to visit and help invest in the area and provides brilliant educational and outdoor opportunities for students and vulnerable/youth/disadvantaged/school and special needs groups of all ages and abilities.
We have admired and watched Holly Hagg develop from the very beginning and are so proud of the hard work and vision of all involved in bringing joy outdoors so close to our homes and community.

Maria Swift (Sheffield, 2023-02-08)
