Save Bathgate Green Belt

This kind of nonsense needs to stop. One person cannot be allowed to steam roll residents, councils and environmental teams and just do what they like!

This is a disgraceful overriding of the wishes of local people and the destruction of greenbelt

I love this area and use it to walk my dogs all the time. It’s a disgrace to destroy mature trees and GCN’s. So many other places this could be built why ruin this amazing spot

I don't want more houses in my town.

Scottish Government must listen to the people of West Lothian and elected representatives who rejected this housing development plan. Based on local knowledge and the need to protect our natural environment, local people know best. SG must reverse their decision and listen to the community.

Save the local ancient trees and protected animal species

The arrogant, unsupported decision by an unnamed planning Reporter of the Scottish Government DPEA to sell this greenbelt to Taylor Wimpey to build on appears to be the criminal destruction of an area of natural beauty in Bathgate.

Too many housing developments in Bathgate with no thought to other amenities and surrounding areas

I abhor the despoliation of such precious sites for animals and trees. It's all very well covering the countryside with concrete, but people need food as their FIRST priority. --How are they to be fed when countries across the world need to feed the world's ever increasing population? We need to grow much more of our own food: imports mean more airmiles, more pollution, more heat, more drought and more famine and more hunger --more DEATHS!
Destroy our food producing land at your peril. We need the trees to soak up the high carbon, as earth warms up. By destroying this land you are increasing the carbon and planet heat; you are denying food to wildlife AND to humankind . Please, come to your senses, for mankind's sake. Safeguard this green belt site, NOW, and SAVE LIVES!

This is harmful to the local ecosystem and does not have the social infrastructure to support the development.

Ross Hyde (Bathgate, 2022-11-04)

It would lead to increased traffic on a road with difficult bends. It would also impact on schools, medical centres etc in the area and despoil an area rich in wildlife

There are brown belt areas else where in Bathgate

The green belt should be protected as a valuable resource for nature and recreation and not built on by greedy property developers.

Stop turning our Green and pleasant land, into a Concrete Jungle!

I was brought up in Bathgate and lived there for many years. I love the surrounding countryside and wildlife. There are plenty of brown field sites that could be used for housing in West Lothian.

I was Falside born and bred and only moved from Boghead Crescent last year. It would be a travesty for this green belt to be built on. Many years of memories playing in hay bales. Watching calves and lambs being born. Keep the green belt.

Why are builders/reporter allowed to ride rough shot over all the views of the locals, and destroy the habit of water vole whose numbers have dropped over 90%+ over the past twenty years.

John Brown (Bathgate , 2022-12-10)

The area is protected and the infrastructure in the area cannot support this.

Neil Borthwick (Bathgate, 2023-03-03)

Greenbelt and animal habitats are being destroyed and local schools and doctors surgeries are already over subscribed. This will also cause excessive traffic in the neighbourhood leading to pollution and traffic jams.
