Save Bathgate Green Belt

This is a beautiful piece of Greenery in our area, offering stunning scenery and fresh air. The traffic around this proposed development is already bad and the doctors and school already under immense pressure.
They cut just a few trees down a few months back and it was terrible to see - no more please!

Natalie Erasmus (Bathgate, 2022-10-20)

#404

I want to save the green belt n wildlife in Bathgate.

Evelyn Gilmour (Bathgate, 2022-10-20)

#405

It’s a shame to see beautiful scenery and natural habitats succumb to industry once again.

Taylor Johnson (Bathgate , 2022-10-20)

#413

Steam roller attitude of West Lothian Council.

Patr Kerr (Bathgate, 2022-10-20)

#415

No one person in government should be allowed to override the will of the local people. Look what happened when Alex Salmond listened to Trumps lies and over rode the local council.

john doherty (broxburn, 2022-10-20)

#416

Green spaces ancient trees and wildlife must be protected more than ever

Fiona Graham (Bo'ness , 2022-10-20)

#418

Respect local democracy and protect West Lothian green belts and wildlife.

Deborah McDermott (Bathgate , 2022-10-20)

#419

I am signing because I am sick of individual civil servants overturning the decisions of my local council. Local Councils should not be overruled if local democracy is to survive. Too much centralisation of power in Scotland in my opinion

Donald Stavert (Bathgate, 2022-10-20)

#420

This is corruption and all about builders not being refused if they have enough money to continually appeal until they get their own way. Protect our greenspace.

Shona Lawson (Bathgate, 2022-10-20)

#425

We need to preserve wildlife, trees and not overwhelm schools, doctors surgeries, we live in a beautiful place but this would be detrimental to Bathgate

Lynne Allan (Bathgate, 2022-10-20)

#426

I,am signing because we will have no green space left in West Lothian at the rate they are developing. They also need yo consider the environmental impact.

Lisa Hosie (ARMADALE, Bathgate, 2022-10-20)

#428

This area of green belt needs to be saved I used to go there when I was younger

Evelyn Gibson (Livingston , 2022-10-20)

#432

The agreed Local Area plan exists to reflect what is important to the residents. Local democracy must be respected as well as people’s desire to have green space as part of their environment.

Stephen Egan (Livingston, 2022-10-20)

#440

I'm signing because we have to protect our environment.

Veronica Mejias (Edinburgh, 2022-10-20)

#442

There are enough houses in Bathgate. Leave the green belt alone.

Billy Smith (Bathgate, 2022-10-20)

#444

This area is of greatvalue to the local community

David Mowbray (Bathgate, 2022-10-20)

#445

Nature is struggling as it is . we need all the green belt that is left . This is an outrage.

Tom Coats (Near kirkcaldy, 2022-10-20)

#451

Outrageous!

Joyce Ferrington (SOUTH QUEENSFERRY, 2022-10-21)

#455

Far too much green land being turned into housing East Whitburn is the same, wild life losing out as well as the environment there has to be a line that isn’t crossed and look to use areas that have previously been built on such as old industrial estates that have been left a abandoned !!

Richard Moir (Bathgate, 2022-10-21)

#459

The protection of animal species and trees, that is cited and matters to eco wellbeing, is a faulting under the court change. The court change is the largely unreported, but never refuted, voiding of the old power of final decision, at any level over any law matters. It makes all court and other legal decisions faultable on their reasoning open-endedly. It's multi-country. courtchange.wordpress.com/the-court-change-or-the-non-finality-situation

Maurice Frank (South Queensferry, 2022-10-21)

#462

Tearing down mature woodlands is so counter productive! The enviromental impact to flora & fauna is devasating. Why not develop some of the brown field sites that are in the Bathgate area.

Craig Hossack (Bathgate, 2022-10-21)

#463

Protect our greenbelt, and support local democracy.

Jane Stevens (Livingston, 2022-10-21)

#466

These developers must be stopped from developing on green land and destroying our beautiful countryside. Nature must be protected. These houses are not being built for the people of West Lothian but for outsiders who can't afford to live in Edinburgh. The infrastructure cannot support the volume of demand that the influx of people will generate. Worst of all, how can the voice of residents with genuine concerns be ignored? and the democratic vote of local councillors. It makes a mockery of the planning application process when these decisions are over-ruled

Lynda Mcgivern (Brixburn, 2022-10-21)

#469

We need to respect our environment. Green spaces and wildlife are crucial to our ecosystem.

Kathleen Rodgers (Bathgate, 2022-10-21)

#471

I'm signing because I believe our green spaces must be protected and because the local people and council are against this development. Our voices need to be heard.

Emma Clark (Bathgate , 2022-10-21)

#472

Total disgrace what this reporter is doing, the same thing has happened in east whitburn. Something is seriously wrong in the Scottish Government.

James Hughes (East whitburn, 2022-10-21)

#474

There's plenty of open land in the area that doesn't require the destruction of wildlife.

Craig Bronsdon (Bathgate, 2022-10-21)

#478

Its morally wrong and should be illegal

Patrick Watson (Armadale, 2022-10-21)

#479

Greenbelt and local democracy must be protected

Caroline Thomson (Prestwick , 2022-10-21)

#483

We have to stop the indiscriminate building that is ruining the countryside and destroying wildlife.

Carol Lothian (Edinburgh , 2022-10-21)

#484

This would damage wildlife and there is no further infrastructure being installed. Thr surrounding roads will become congested as they are not able to carry so much traffic and the local schools, dentists and doctor surgeries are already at capacity.

Kenneth Montgomery (Bathgate , 2022-10-21)

#487

It's destruction on all levels !!!

Susie Trigg (Bordon, 2022-10-21)

#493

New housing is very important but surely not at the cost of destroying natural heritage.

Anna Malina (Peebles, 2022-10-21)

#498

Greenspaces are so important for both the community and biodiversity. This became particularly apparent during the Covid lockdown showing just how important nature is. Please protect what little nature we have left.

Katie Padgett (Edinburgh , 2022-10-21)

#499

I’m local to this area and love to walk in nature and see the wildlife, no need to build housing on this land

Audrey Graham (Bathgate, 2022-10-21)

#500

This area needs to be saved from development, additional homes in this area would be a disaster. Save this important green space.

Peter O'Hara (Bathgate, 2022-10-21)

#502

I support this as in addition to the area being an important green belt area the road at Sibbalds Brae is not suited to the volume of traffic that such a development will generate . The Bathgate Community and officials are opposed to this and should have the final say .

Les Meikle (Bathgate, 2022-10-21)

#504

I’m signing because the trees, plants and animals are valuable beyond developments. Because green belts and green spaces are essential for the health and well being of all. Because an ecosystem dismantled can not be replaced. Please choose to protect your beautiful nature spaces.

Kate Hamer (Elmira, 2022-10-22)

#507

Too much of West Lothian greenbelt has already been lost.

Samantha Dow (BATHGATE, 2022-10-22)

#508

Green belts are not items to be thrown away whenever you fancy.

Amy Norton (Freuchie, by Cupar, 2022-10-22)

#512

The Scottish Government must stop overriding local democracy. We must protect our green spaces.

Chris Naismith (Livingston, 2022-10-22)

#517

I stay right next to where these houses will be. They will be crammed in, there will be an impact to wildlife, to the availibilty of already struggling schools and Drs and will make the roads more dangerous to get access to these houses.

Samantha Reid (Bathgate, 2022-10-22)

#521

I live beside the field where they want to build I see the deer the fox the hedgehog and bats but I also see lots of different birds squirrels and insects and large butterfly that I haven't seen before we have to protect these animals also when the houses in plessey road were built and that part had just been dug all up when it rained the gardens were full of this slime like mud which was very slippy and the bottom of that field gets flooding I don't feel that field should be built on I feel that there will be a lot of problems

Margaret Condy (Bathgate, 2022-10-22)

#530

I'm signing because the people who live in that area and who ultimately have to suffer the consequences should be listened to. The power and the thickness of the 'brown envelope' should not be allowed to ride roughshod over the majority of democratic votes against this. Very soon every piece of land will be built on with new houses and there will be no green space, even all the farmland is being built on which is a great idea- no where to grow crops and then we become ever more reliant and at the mercy of other countries, Wake up before its too late!

Alison Webster (Broxburn, 2022-10-22)

#539

I want to keep my green area intact.
Our school is already under pressure with over capacity.
Our roads are not able to cope with even more and more traffic

Duncan Sinnet (Bathgate , 2022-10-22)

#540

I’m signing because we are slowing eroding our green areas and the biodiversity we have. The countryside is so important. The increase in traffic will not only cause chaos but impact our health in many ways. We do not have the resources in place to serve this increase in population.

Christine Tennant (Bathgate, 2022-10-22)

#553

This green belt is of outstanding natural beauty and is home to ancient trees and protected animal species.

John McKnight (Irvine, 2022-10-23)

#554

I live in Falside and know how important this green space is for local wildlife. It would
be immoral to remove their habitat in favour for housing development.

Kerry Crichton (Bathgate, 2022-10-23)

#559

I stay in bathgate and i want to protect the green belt for future generations

alex irvine (Bathgate, 2022-10-23)

#561

We need to save these areas that are home to ancient trees and endangered species. You cannot replace these 200 yr old trees they are invaluable.

Elizabeth Sanders (Glasgow , 2022-10-23)

#563

Ancient woodland and protected species...come on get this decision reversed!
I was under the impression that the Scottish Government stood up for our protected species of flora and fauna.

Keith Munro (Bathgate, 2022-10-23)

#570

Solar Farms are a hideous idea we have a very small country and we need the farming and agricultural land for food and livestock or else the future will be devastating. 37,000 scientists signed a petition stating their is NO climate emergency these plans are all to do with making money

Clair Oldfield (Buxton, 2022-10-24)

#571

Once all the mature green space is gone, we can't easy get it back

Kathleen Lambie (Edinburgh , 2022-10-24)

#574

Protected means protected.

Cole Cali (Livingston, 2022-10-24)

#580

Save the planet, by saving the environment around us and beyond.

Yvonne Cairns (Stirling, 2022-10-24)

#583

I live in this area and the roads are busy enough, there’s insufficient school availability and no doctors appointments as it is. If these builds continue to be permitted, there will be no green areas left and all the towns in West Lothian will just become one

Julie Mackay (Bathgate, 2022-10-24)

#589

Save Bathgate Green Belt

Sharon Haggerty (Bathgate , 2022-10-24)

#591

My parents home backs onto the land they want to develop, the house was built specifically facing the green belt, now my folks will have 5/6 homes looking directly in their windows and onto the garden as well as a rat run of space between the housing estates that will undoubtedly be a dumping ground or no man's land to grow out of hand. No thought at all for current residents or the wildlife that calls these fields/ woods and burns home. It has been rejected at every step of the way why can one person overturn the democratic decision of a community on a community issue.

Ross Malloy (Bathgate ( Falside) , 2022-10-24)

#592

It is essential we protect & preserve our green areas, the wildlife & eco systems are so important. Huge areas of land are constantly being destroyed for housing & it’s got to stop.

Caroline Beebee (Bathgate, 2022-10-24)

#595

I feel we need to protect our woodlands

Robert Gray (Bathgate , 2022-10-24)

#600

The destruction is unbelievable no consideration for the local community or our thoughts. Just build build build
