The music brings the whole community together and has raised money for amazing causes! Not being allowed this would mean they would not be able to help make money for important charities for example, Oakhaven Hospice which many people in the village have had an association with at some point or another. Along with the other charity events which have all been to help someone in the village!
Aside from the charity fundraisers, it’s a bit of fun for all the locals (and the staff) for just 2 hours at a VERY reasonable time of the day! Life is about having fun and enjoying the little things. Do these people want to be responsible for ruining many peoples fun when it might be the only thing they look forward to in the week?

Eleanor Gb (New Milton , 2022-08-14)

Keep up the fundraising efforts, live music is a brilliant way to attract new customers and support artists, you're putting the village on the map for a much wider community!

Jessica Harrow (Winchester, 2022-08-14)

#1006

I love the tradition of seeing local, talented artists in our wonderful traditional pubs. How disgraceful if a minority are permitted to spoil this age old form of innocent entertainment and ruin a the livelihood of the venues.

Wendy Caesar (Southampton , 2022-08-15)

#1010

Live music is vital and it’s terrible when people move to a a joke near a live venue and then complain.

Irving Walker (Sunbury , 2022-08-15)

#1012

Fully support Martin's fundraising for worthy local causes, whilst his desire to compromise further should be properly explored by NFDC.

Dianna Goodwin (Milford on sea, 2022-08-15)

#1015

I support the gigs. People who don’t like noise shouldn’t live next to a pub

Berwyn Thomas (Farnham , 2022-08-15)

#1021

Support this great venue.

Linda Jelley (Hampshire , 2022-08-15)

#1022

Local public houses and other venues should be able to have live music playing

STEVE BRINKLOW (ALDERSHOT , 2022-08-15)

#1023

A very small group of disgruntled residents should not spoil the enjoyment of a much larger majority. It’s only once a week on a Saturday afternoon ffs!

Nick Charles (Bath, 2022-08-15)

#1026

I come up specially for the music and charity events. How mean spirited.

Ashley Collins (London, 2022-08-15)

Music matters, it makes us better and happier people. Music is life and it needs to carry on. Thank you for doing this 🙏

Matt Blakey (Southampton , 2022-08-15)

Ridiculous to take music away from people. Run professionally (which it will be.) it’s no issue

Luke Morgan (Brighton, 2022-08-15)

We would like to both offer our support to The Crown Everton in our village. Martin has managed to breath life into a sleepy old pub. He has managed to encapsulate the ideal of a village pub, where all from the community are welcome. Whether it’s for a relaxed drink a delicious meal or to enjoy listening to local music acts and appreciating the atmosphere. Long may this continue not only for the community but all those relying on a regular income.

Frances and Martin Farmes (Lymington Everton, 2022-08-16)

#1046

All communities have a misery guts who cannot abide those that play a little music (hardly at rock concert levels either) and raise large amounts for charity whilst also giving happiness to the majority in the community.

Charlotte Hill (New Milton, 2022-08-16)

#1047

This is a great pub and the live music is great

Sally Bowden (Southampton, 2022-08-16)

#1049

I am signing because all monies raised for charities are very much needed & appreciated & it’s only for short periods not hours on end. Come on people be charitable.

Tricia Sweeten (New Milton, 2022-08-16)

#1051

I’m signing because it would be tragic to have live music stopped . Live music has been hit hard enough!!!

Diz Dunn (Lymington, 2022-08-16)

#1052

It is important to keep live music going in our pubs. In this particular case charitable fundraising depends on the live music and to prevent acts and artists playing live at this venue would be a massive detriment to the charities involved

Deborah Ramshaw (Southampton, 2022-08-16)

#1054

Important part of the village community

Nick Myatt (Everton Lymington, 2022-08-16)

#1055

The amount of money the pub has raised for charity has been incredible. And the mix of customers lovely. 18 _ 80, as well as family's,with young children, all of whom thoroughly have a great time

Alison Tucker (Hordle , 2022-08-16)

We need to do everything possible to help this business stay open. Pubs are closing at a rapid rate across the country due to all sorts of difficult trading situations. As a local business owner the last thing I would want to see is a closed pub as this could possibly affect my own business with a corporate buyout and change of use to a shop.

Barrie Morgan (Everton , 2022-08-16)

#1065

I grew up in Milford and The Crown was my Great Aunts pub. I want to support you, in all your endeavours, to keep Milford an alive and interesting place to live and visit. Life is hard enough already, how can a little music be such a bad thing? I hope the NFDC see sense and restore your live music license as soon as possible, before too much damage is done.

Tehane Wilson Cooper (Bristol, 2022-08-17)

#1066

It seems unreasonable that neighbours cannot tolerate short sets of music, fundraising and solo artists. They have come up with a compromise.

Josephine Pridmore (POOLE, 2022-08-17)

#1067

I am a musician and we need venues to play at and people need to get the opportunity to enjoy live music.

Rob Booth (Bournemouth , 2022-08-17)

#1068

The pub should be allowed to play music . There are such things as ear plugs !!! After covid we all need some music and tolerance in our lives . It’s not late into the night just a non issue.

Tania Harding (Everton , 2022-08-17)

#1072

I’m a lover of live music.

Ian Burr (Lymington, 2022-08-18)

#1074

Live music needs supporting. The Council needs to negotiate an acceptable compromise rather than reverting to the law.

Paul Kelly (Poole, 2022-08-18)

#1076

I'm signing because I believe that a village pub which fosters almost entirely goodwill amongst locals living nearby and helps local charities raise thousands of pounds by hosting fundraising events, is something to be encouraged and supported! In a modern world beset by challenge on nearly every front, "old fashioned" connection with local community is one of the few positives, which has enormous benefits in terms of wellbeing. Don't let the negativity of a very few, kill the fantastic initiative and energy of this momentum! For goodness sake, "Music is the Answer" - to so many questions! Especially when the Landlord is so willing to work with the Council to compromise to resolve issues. Let's hope commonsense and goodwill prevail here.

Jane Porter (Brockenhurst, 2022-08-18)

I have attended a music evening at the Crown, it was thoroughly enjoyable , the set was only for a limited time .

#1079

I’m signing because I support local businesses trying to survive in these difficult times, especially those raising money for good causes, not NIMBYs.

Steve Adams (Everton) I agree totally with all the comments - about the shortsightedness and selfishness of the complainants, the need to support a pub which gives so much to the community and the fact that Martin has tried so hard to please everyone and still make a living. I've worked with Martin, both as a musician and a project to raise money for charity (Everton Music Festival), and he is totally committed to working for the community and raise money for good causes, frequently at cost to himself. I know first hand how he has striven to keep the noise levels down and limit the occasions. I've lived in the village for 34 years and the pub is the best I've known it with a wide range of age groups enjoying the music and atmosphere! If people want to complain about something they should tackle the problem of speeding through the village and down Wainsford Road!

Steve Adams (Lymington, 2022-08-19)

#1082

I support the Crown Inn in its fund raising efforts and deeply appreciate the music nights!

Ken Maskall (Hordle, 2022-08-19)

#1089

As a pub manager myself, it upsets me that a business has been penalised for live music that has taken place inside. Neighbours choose to live near a pub/bar, the management are only trying to do what’s right for their customers, even more so for a charity event.

Stacey Croft (Worthing, 2022-08-19)

Im a local member and i think that the crown brings the community together and is a great part of our local village

Jodie Mapes (Lymington , 2022-08-19)

I support our local pub, we want it to stay open and obviously this is a good way of increasing revenue.

Sue Springbett (Hampshire, 2022-08-20)

None of the events go on that long and people should be more tolerant as long as not overly loud and not later than 11 pm .usual leasehold clauses

Heather Wiltshire (Lymington , 2022-08-20)

#1100

I love live music and we should support places such as The Crowne who sign up for short set pieces and a reasonable time, often the afternoon.

We have to recognise what the public want from a Pub & Live Music is up there in the must have column. The New Forest has some amazing musical talent and most performers start out in Pubs, we need this to continue. I appreciate not everybody wants to hear music but all music has to finish by 11, not 12, 1am or 2am & we all know that. Lots of artists now only play acoustically which really helps those pubs that have disgruntled neighbours. We need to find compromises to continue to allow Live music in Pubs to continue. So let's all work together to make this essential forest tradition continue.

Mike Wilson (Southampton , 2022-08-22)

#1110

Pubs are the heart of the community and music brings people together.

Deborah Topp (Lymington, 2022-08-22)

#1117

This landlord is working so hard to set up a thriving community pub whilst supporting local charities. The music events are usually in the afternoons and are short sets and I cannot understand why anyone would complain that they are a noise issue. They never go on late into the evening and it is usually only a small group or an individual playing. We do not have a pub in Hordle and it is lovely to cycle down and meet friends and family on a Saturday afternoon to enjoy some laid back music in a relaxed setting, it has really brought the community together. The pub needs the support of its neighbours, not complaints. To fine Martin for trying to make a success of this establishment would be a travesty.

Hannah Rook (Hordle, 2022-08-23)

#1118

I do not believe The Crown Inn are being unreasonable in providing live music on an infrequent basis.
I have lived opposite a pub in Surrey in 1990’s for 10 years & loved to see it busy.

I lived right next door to a large pub on The Waterside & was very happy to hear bands playing at The Glen.

I am now bases in Pennington (part time) & enjoy going to The Crown for a bit of live entertainment.
NFDC are being over officious regarding this matter.

Victoria Humber (Pennington , 2022-08-23)

I am a regular patron at the crown. They are a very friendly team providing good food in nice surroundings. Let them continue to grow and improve their offerings, including their live music events.

Meryl Mcconnachie (Barton on sea, 2022-08-23)

It is a great pub, does lots for charity, pubs need all our help to survive

Richard Gallagher (Lymington, 2022-08-23)

A bit of music at a pub is to be expected. If you don't like that, don't live a near a pub.

Ben Davies (Everton, 2022-08-23)

Great local pub
I Live around the corner and have never once heard any noise from their events!

Helen Hunt (Everton , 2022-08-23)

Jane Pearce (Christchurch, 2022-08-23)

#1132

I'd love to live next door with a bit of music

Kathryn Smith (Lymington , 2022-08-23)

#1134

This pub is fantastic. Too many village pubs are closing and it will inevitably happen to the crown if they are refused to play music and draw custom!!! People should consider not purchasing a property near to public houses if they want to complain about noise!!!!

Naomi Glass (Lymington, 2022-08-23)

#1136

I’m signing this petition because I live in Everton and it is great to have a local friendly
Pub that helps charities and the local bands are good

I have often visited the pub and love the fact that there is live music once a week and often for charity. It’s a great place for locals to get together and a very friendly place with good food as well

Sue Gay (London, 2022-08-25)

#1144

I support local businesses and encourage charity fundraisers. Good luck to them.

Helen Phillips (Lymington, 2022-08-25)

Music is therapy for mist, and something to celebrate. It takes effort and organisation to put these small but wonderful events on, which should be applauded. We have had enough isolation, let's have some positive spirit and finally be able to celebrate.

Keren Middle (Hampshire , 2022-08-25)

Live music is so vital for all aspects of our social wellbeing. I expect the 4 people complaining moved in after the pub was built. These people make me annoyed

We don't get out much, but hubby and I usually end up at the Crown when we do. It's such a great pub. Very happy to support you.

I'm signing because this pub brings a community together. The owner and team are thoughtful, respectful and kind.

Ligeia Lee (Lymington, 2022-08-28)

#1153

The events are very tasteful and are always for a good cause.

I live near pubs that have bands every Friday & Saturday and are so much louder than these events . All can be heard around the area and everyone just likes to hear the free music.

This pub always considers its times for special events and thinks carefully about local houses etc.
I feel a few locals surrounding this pub are just causing unnecessary personal issues against it.
Martin is extremely polite and always considerate to everyone he comes into contact with .

Kelli Jeffery (Maidstone , 2022-08-30)

#1154

I’m a musician and totally support pubs trying to put on any type of music

Sarah Bolter (Ferndown, 2022-09-02)

#1155

This pub has brought the community together and it is ridiculous that people would complain about such a lovely thing. They don’t do anything late it’s all done in a polite and caring manor. This is my parents local and it’s so nice to see my parents out and enjoying a Saturday afternoon down the pub. What’s so wrong with that?!

Lucy Campion (Everton , 2022-09-03)

#1157

This is the only pub in the village. It is a place for the community to meet and enjoy.
I cannot comprehend how the very few complainants could not simply cross the road and ask Martin to turn the music down.

Elizabeth Blyton (Everton, Lymington, 2022-09-08)

#1158

The pub is a critical oart of the village providing a social cntre for all ages.

paul kemp (Lymington, 2022-09-23)

#1159

1) there is only one pub, this one, in the village & it has part to play in maintaining a community spirit & friendly meeting place to get to know people
2) the fundraising events are very important
3) there is a need & a place for low key entertainment such as the music performances
4) it aids the musical performers themselves
5) the performances are never long and never late (usually afternoons); the Alzheimer’s one was all done by 9pm
6) the area needs some livening up - I’m well into my 60’s but welcome the chance to have a nice outing that involves live music.

There’s a lot more pressing things to worry about these days!
