It seems that Martin has engaged with NFDC in an effort to reach a satisfactory solution and yet it seems that a tiny minority, possible one person, can influence matters

Pubs have a difficult enough time without this kind of nonsense from a few grumpy people. Plus live music is a great ‘feel good factor’ which we all need right now & brings people together. Remember the artists as well who are trying to earn a living.

Yasmin Watt (Barton & Sea, 2022-08-08)

The crown is an integral part of the village. They work tirelessly for the community as well as various charities.
I live close to the crown and it never bothers us. The music is infrequent and never got long!

Long Kirsty (Lymington, 2022-08-08)

#409

I support live music in pubs and have always enjoyed listening to band's in the Crown at Everton

Simon Spurrier (New Milton , 2022-08-08)

#410

I'm signing here because these amazing village pubs deserve to be the centre of the community. So many local charities have also benefitted from being able to hold music events there and, without such venues, would be deprived of much needed funds.
The Crown is such an integral part of the village and without the support of people, be it neighbours or further afield, such places could soon be a distant memory.

I believe music at local pubs is good for their business and to bring local communities together.

Stephanie Fenner (Lymington, 2022-08-08)

#414

It's a great pub. It's a community focus. There's no violence or damage to nearby propetties. There's no valid reason for antisocial people to be giving the pub a hard time.

Music brings people and communities together.

Elaine Sparks (New Milton, 2022-08-08)

#416

I’ve lived within shouting distance of the Crown for 30 years. What could be better than having a drink for a few hours on a sunny Saturday afternoon listening to some live music with your family, friends and neighbours? Hopefully NFDC will have the sense to see this as it is. Less than a single hand full of inflexible, spiteful, and pious individuals hell bent on spoiling things for the vast majority of us whilst at the same time putting in danger the very fabric of our wonderful village.
Shame on them.

Huw Roberts (Everton, 2022-08-08)

#417

The Crown is a wonderful pub for us, with a lovely community. Their music events have brought a lot of joy and fun to our family and friends, especially post covid. Live music is an integral element to any community, a way to come together, share the enjoyment, sing along and meet people. Given the difficulties so many have been facing in recent months these events bring connection and happiness to many from Everton and Milford.

Joanna Owen (Lymington, 2022-08-08)

#418

Pubs have always been an important venue for live music, places where people can enjoy live music are becoming increasingly scarce. I think the neighbours should chill-out and be tolerant of a couple of hours of live music drifting across from the pub maybe once a week at most!

Lisa Ashton (Lymington , 2022-08-08)

#419

I believe live music is at the Crown is an important asset to the area and should be allowed to continue

Stephen Brennan (New Milton, 2022-08-08)

#420

This pub needs to have music, people need to have a place to enjoy live music and they are not casings any damage to anyone as they are always very welcome considerate of others

Mariana Raquel Oliveira (Milford on Sea , 2022-08-08)

#421

I am amazed that a tiny number of individuals you actively stop a community getting together to enjoy themselves, shake off the horror of the last few years and even raise money for charity. A responsible landlord should be given the support of the local council for actively tackling mental health in the area.

Miles Gripton (Milford on Sea, 2022-08-08)

#422

Live entertainment has the ability to hold our attention, it brings back memories and improves emotional wellbeing (one study suggests up to 20%), this is science!
Complainants please take note.
Martin and his team have created an environment of warmth and energy which has revitalised the community.
I am supporting Martin to maintain this positive change and keep the live music events.
I hope that the NFDC and our local parish counsellor will continue to work with Martin to amend or withdraw the abatement notice, to support our village pub, local bands & musicians and our community's charitable work.

Angela Roberts (Everton, Lymington, Hampshire, 2022-08-08)

As a musician and local resident
I totally support all venues that encourage live music in my area .

What a joy it is to be able to go to live music venues good for socializing for people on their own. People of all ages enjoy music definitely lifts your spirit.

Kim Marling (Bransgore , 2022-08-08)

#427

Martin and his team have done an outstanding job of bringing back a sense of community and fun to the village of Everton aswell as helping with local economic growth and raising money for a number of charities.
I live a 2 minute walk from the Crown and have NO issue whatsoever with live music being played there....in fact I actively encourage it and ask that the abatement notice is withdrawn.
Please don't let the NIMBY minority spoil it for the sensible fun seeking majority!!

Roy Thomas (Everton, Lymington , 2022-08-08)

#428

I live very close to The Crown, and DO NOT
Have a problem with the live music , which only takes place on average once a week on a Saturday for a couple of hours. In fact I find it refreshing to have some life in the village after the awful few years of the pandemic. Please listen to the majority of the village, not the
Minority and withdraw the abatement order. Surely we should be supporting local businesses at this difficult economic time. Not making it more difficult for them .

christine Thomas (Everton, Lymington , 2022-08-08)

#429

I support local live music. There is always a good friendly atmosphere when live music is being played at this lovely pub.

#430

Live music helps to bring the local community together and raise funds for worthy causes

Graham Cooke (Tingwood, 2022-08-08)

#431

So we are talking a small numbers of outdoor music events over the course of the summer, for a couple of hours on a Saturday or Bank holiday afternoon and all finishing by late afternoon, early evening. What a fantastic opportunity for the Everton village community to come together, socialise, support one another and raise money for good causes. Plus its provides valuable employment for some off our youngsters. Wonder what the complainants do for the local community apart from sit in and wait to complain at the first opportunity? Best thing they could do by way of a reasonable compromise would be to 'politely go out' for two hours and let the community flourish without them or better still, come and join in and contribute something to the village. Come on NFDC, up your game and work for the democratic majority that empower you and dont just pander to the miserable few. You have a duty of care to those that live life at the weekend as well!

Andy Davey (Everton, 2022-08-08)

#434

I haven't been into the pub but when I drive past I always say 'how wonderful' to see so many people enjoying themselves listening to music .....unfortunately some miserable die hards in Everton by the look of it!

White Carol (Lymington, 2022-08-08)

#437

I’m signing because I support live music in pubs which are the heart of the community. Residents who live nearby and complain shouldn’t have moved next to a pub if they do not like entertainment and noise.

There must be a time limit on the hours live bands can play in a pub (Pub hours)
To be honest we’ve had more loud music going on till way past 1.00 am from Neighbours. Cut the Crown some slack.

Jennifer Browning (New Milton , 2022-08-08)

#447

It’s great for the community and what the pub are doing is an asset to the community.

Charlotte Pawson (Lymington, 2022-08-08)

#448

To us a pub with live music is a bonus.
It brings a village together, Hordle doesn't have a nice pub but Everton does, leave it alone or loss the business.
Live music, from a band or solo artist is a huge asset and must be encouraged.

Claire Johnston (Hordle , 2022-08-08)

#452

I feel that too many places are being restricted because of a few people complaining. It's not every night and surely there is an ongoing use argument.

Good food and entertainment. Well done Martin and Claire

#455

I have family locally and we enjoy live entertainment. This notice is beyond ridiculous! The necessity to socialise has never been greater after almost two years of lockdown and these landlords are more than prepared to compromise.

Sarah Loveday (Burnham-on-sea, 2022-08-08)

#459

I’m signing because the Crown is a huge asset to the Everton community. The live music events it puts on are enjoyed by large numbers of residents and visitors alike. If Everton is to remain a vibrant engaged community this is exactly the sort of activity it needs.

David Edwards (Lymington , 2022-08-08)

#463

I’m signing this because the music at the Crown Inn raises over £10,000 which is much needed and appreciated for local charities
We must not. kowtow to just one person’s disliking.

Ian Pawson (Brockenhurst, 2022-08-08)

Julie Tranter (Lymington, 2022-08-08)

As we live only 100 metres from the Crown we do hear the music but not at all noisy or intrusive. In fact we go round someSaturdays to listen AND we are over 80 years old. This is all part of village life which is these days so unique.
It is only a couple of hours a week and very often within the pub so hope it can continue

Mike and Cilla Johnson (Everton Lymington, 2022-08-08)

#469

Because I am a local at top of Firmount Close. I do not find the music annoying a few hours a week

ken crowe (Everton, 2022-08-08)

#471

I have visited the Crown on the odd occasions they have music and it has been well supported by the local community and also does so much for good causes. Shame one complaint overrides many other positive responses

Shirley Bonnett (Lymington , 2022-08-08)

#473

I am signing because we all get fed when new people move into the village near to a church or pub and then complain about the noise. It is wrong that a great deal of enjoyment for a lot of people is spoiled by a few NIMBY'S

Barry Hills (Lymington, 2022-08-08)

#474

The local community needs its pubs, and they need to have events to survive in these uncertain times. It’s not like the music goes on until the early hours.

I’m an signing this because love music and this local pub is the very heart of the community organised fund raisers , people that have moved local to the area must be aware of the history of this pub and the few that have complained would have been aware of where they where moving to

Polly Smith (Hampshire, 2022-08-08)

#488

I live in the village and most Saturday's walk down to the pub to enjoy the live music with my husband and friends.
We have greatly enjoyed the last year since Martin took over the pub!

Suzanne Hennings (Everton, 2022-08-08)

#491

I think it would be a real shame and totally unfair if live music had to come to an end at The Crown. It is fantastic to have such a lovely local pub, run by friendly and welcoming staff together with the added bonus of live entertainment from local, talented musicians. It is a real hub for the community and is great to see people laughing, dancing and generally having fun and appreciating great music and singers.
Their regular fundraising events have generated a lot of money for charity which should always be supported. No-one knows when they may benefit from the support these charities receive and it should be encouraged.
Please don't let a tiny minority spoil it for everyone who appreciates The Crown and loves everything the pub is doing to make it a happy, vibrant environment for the majority.

Vanessa Lancaster (Lymington , 2022-08-08)

#505

I'm signing this petition as I have been coming to live music events at both the social club and the Crown for over 35 years Lots of people that move into the area want to change the community feel of Everton and make it something different. Music venues are under threat across the UK and the smaller ones that have only a few acts per week should be cherished as part of the fabric of our local society.

Jasper Phillips (Everton , 2022-08-08)

#507

The music has oy taken place on the afternoon/early evening and has not gone on until late so there's no reason for complaints to be made. Don't live near a pub if you don't like live music. It's also good that the event was raising funds for a charity!

Nicky Masters (New Milton, 2022-08-08)

#511

This is a great pub and I am happy to support Martin in his efforts to bring live music and the community together. Also, stopping him raising money for charity is just wrong!

Paula Walker (SOUTHAMPTON, 2022-08-08)

#515

They do loads for charity and i love music

Dave Wright (pennington, 2022-08-08)

#516

I’m signing this as I’m also in a landlady in the situation. The hospitality trade is currently down by 35-40% precovid due to many factors including ability to travel, cost of living, energy bills increase, food and wet sales prices increasing to name but a few. Without such events with reasonable adjustments our pubs will close and become another empty building - music brings all ages together, encourages new friendships and raises funds for local causes - there is no support from the government for hospitality - there is also no support for pubs with these minority complaints - it’s a completely no win Situation for us pubs - yet plenty of legislation to support the complainants - which are living in properties that more often than not we’re built at free the pubs were built.

Maria Harris (Lyndhurst, 2022-08-08)

#518

I’m signing because it’s important to preserve small village public houses. I have visited several times in the last year, my son lives locally.
Not only does the crown raise money for local charities, but is also a place to meet and socialise. I have also found the landlord and staff to go out of their way to help others.
It would appear that there is a small minority that has rattled NFDC. We should all work together to resolve this. When buying a house near a pub, do people not realise there will be a little disruption to the norm?

MERVYN Webb (Fordingbridge , 2022-08-08)

#520

Live Music is good for the soul and for local businesses!!!

Sally Searle (New Milton, 2022-08-08)

#521

I grew up in the area up, lived there until 6 months ago, my family still based in milford. Live music events are very important to the local community and there must be some way to find agreement to allow them continue. Killing culture and community is more anti-social than occasionally hosting live music.

Michael Gabbay (Redruth, 2022-08-08)

#522

I support what the Crown is trying to do. Why to the wingers want to make the pub suffer and perhaps even close . It's bad enough trying to get a pub to survive in this economic climate even without this sort of attack .Would the neighbour then be happy if it closed?

Gordon de la Mare (Everton, 2022-08-08)

#523

I live in the area and think live music is important

Nathan Parratt (Lymington, 2022-08-08)

#526

We need to keep live music available in our pubs, a healthy part of the social ecosystem. We can play with consideration to others in the community

Ian Woodhouse (Lymington, 2022-08-08)

#535

I am signing this because I think 2 x 45 minute sets of solo or duo are highly important to the hospitality trade, this is where most networking goes on for fellow traders and when it's in the afternoons I can't see why there would be a problem. Also if this helps with charity events to raise money for local causes

Rachael Bree (Bh25 7nb , 2022-08-08)

#537

If you live within half a mile of a pub, social club, church, sports ground or school then you will expect extra noise, more traffic and larger crowds of people. Why anyone would make a formal complaint to a local authority is ridiculous.

Helen Saunders (Lymington, 2022-08-08)

#541

I feel that there are far more people who enjoy an outdoor life in the summer and should be afforded the ability to listen to music. Why is it wrong to hear local talent effectively 2 months of the year? Why is it wrong that after 2 years of some of us abiding by the rules, we can sit outside to enjoy the freedom that was denied to us? Why is it wrong that local businesses should try create business opportunities after 2 years of almost zero income? How do you expect local businesses to pay its business rates if it is denied opportunities to create new means of earning a living? Why deny the entertainment of the many to simply appease the few?

Chris Panayi (Brockenhurst , 2022-08-08)

#542

We need live music especially in these hard times.

There is no logical reason why music can't be played in a pub

Frances Rowley (Epsom, 2022-08-09)

#569

The few shouldn't be able to spoil it for the many and I know a lot of people who enjoy the live music this great pub has on offer. Live music in pubs is a great way to keep country pubs alive and I believe they are an integral part of our rural community.

Emma Olliff (Everton, 2022-08-09)

#573

Live music events should be encouraged. It doesn’t go on all day and night, and many people enjoy it. If the neighbours who complained want to live in silence, then why move near to a pub in the first place?!

John Holmes (Lymington, 2022-08-09)

#574

I'm signing because Pubs play an important and historic role in our communities and need to be supported as part of the fabric of our society.

I support live music and ‘local’ pubs.

Gaythorne Kemp (New Milton, 2022-08-09)

#579

I think a good local pub is the heart and soul of any village and The Crown do it perfectly. This is not a loud, raucous music venue but a local good food pub and it’s what we need around here.

kim walker-hibbitt (Barton on sea , 2022-08-09)

#580

Because we need live music too many pubs have stopped it I used to belong too Everton social club they had music nobody complained then

Peter Brightman (Lymington , 2022-08-09)

#583

Local venues for the community to get together are very important to well being of everyone and the local economy . Charities cannot survive and do the good public works they do without venues and people like this who raise the vital donations needed. Pubs are closing daily all over the UK with huge detrimental effects to their local communities. Local councils should be supporting these businesses. Live music events on a couple of nights per week should be tolerated by those living nearby . I live near a venue that has live music very regularly and this time of year it is played outside . This is the only public venue we have within in walking distance and we support it as much as we can . If we do not want to hear it we shut our windows. Simple. On this occasion the people complaining need to also make compromises. This is a local pub to treasure.

Tricia Dendle (NEW MILTON, 2022-08-09)

#586

I lived in Milford on sea for many years and was part of the local live music scene. As such, I gigged in the Crown on numerous occasions. The pub and many others with similar problems have used live music to encourage business, fundraise, be a starting platform for young musicians etc for years - at least 25 in the case of the Crown. Since this particular problem has just started, I guess it’s someone who’s just bought their home, close to a pub then wondering why it gets busy.
Given this pub supports the community and provides employment for a number of locals ( and the busier it is, the more employment opportunities) I think they should be allowed to continue their good work unhindered by the one person who thinks they have a right to control their business.

Adrian Withers (Newquay , 2022-08-09)

#587

Imagine the village without the Crown! It is a super-important part of the community, and music is a very important part of the Crown and its attraction. As a musician who has performed there, I know how careful the owners and staff are there. The neighbour(s) in question are extreme with measuring the level of sound only to catch them out. It's not like the Crown is having a rave or rock festival every day. I have met the owners as responsible employers who love their community, and I'd vouch for that any day.

I feel that an abatement notice is unreasonable based on the number/nature/duration/frequency of alleged offences. Are the complaint's from residents that moved near a public house when it was operational.
We must not allow live music/arts/theatre to be killed off at local venues for the sake of a couple of hours a week. Every Sunday the council allow petrol hedge trimmers and blowers to be used staff at Hordle school grounds for 4.5 hours 10 til 2:30 every Sunday in hour garden ruined. Double standards by our failing NFDC I'm afraid.
