Keep the free carpark at the back of Morley Market

The effects on the traders in Morley wouldn’t be fair it will cause shoppers to go elsewhere

Natasha Keighley (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#6

I live in Morley, it's a fantastic town and place to live

Julie Colbeck (Morley, 2021-11-26)

#7

I feel the carpark is always full so is obviously much needed and losing it would have a big impact on the market, trade would be lost which would affect the livelihoods of the traders.

Susan Woollin (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#8

This car park is really handy as i work in the market. Lets not take any more custom away from people who are trying to make a living.

Tarbatt Deborah (Wakefield, 2021-11-26)

#9

I think we need the car park for the market traders and visitors

Sarah Barnett (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#10

We need to keep this car park for the residents of Morley and the traders of Morley market and the high street.

Tony Priestley (Cleckheaton, 2021-11-26)

#11

I run a shop in Morley Market and this proposal would severely impact my business.

Howard Moxon (Dewsbury, 2021-11-26)

#14

Along with the ludicrous decision to close Morley bottom this would kill trade for most of us in Morley Market. Id like to know Who up at the top is getting financial gains from these Stupid decisions cause they seem to slip through without much public notice.

Duane Silvers (LEEDS, 2021-11-26)

#17

I live in Morley and there is no reason at all to begin charging for this parking

Claire Saint (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#18

It will have a detrimental effect on my business and times are tough enough as it is !!

Hazel Tetley (Leeds , 2021-11-26)

#19

Morley needs free parking to encourage shoppers to our small town to keep our independent businesses open.

Krantz Paul (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#20

I work in Morley and like many others use this car park as parking is quite limited in the area. Getting rid of this car park will reduce parking even further and stop people traveling into Morley leading to shop closures and job losses.

Jodie Smith (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#21

In the interest of morley town centre businesses it is vital to retain accessible free parking both for traders and customers alike

Anthony Hart (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#22

Losing this car park will destroy the town

Jordan Bentley (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#23

This is going to make Morley a ghost town ! Stupid idea if there ever was

Tracey Mercer (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#24

There is virtually no parking around that area. This is used for people with accessibility needs and also the shops in the local area. Removing this would be catastrophic to the local high street

Ben Johnstone (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#25

I believe in the value of that car park. Generally people don’t stay long. They call into the market or whichever shops and then take their goods home. If anyone needs to have a sit down and rest they are able to do so on the pedestrianised area where there are benches available.

Barbara Marsden (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#26

We need the parking in Morley town centre.

Lynne Appleyard (Morley , 2021-11-26)

#29

Parking in Morley is at a premium. Taking away the free parking will have a great adverse effect on all the businesses in the town. The country as a whole are supposed to be supporting our high streets, shops, markets and other business and protecting peoples livelihoods and historic culture.

Michelle Walker (Wakefield, 2021-11-26)

#30

Morley already has a good number of public parks/green space, removing car parking will kill the town centre and businesses (people will go elsewhere where they can park), alternatives (public transport) aren't good - railway station is a fair distance from the town centre and Morley doesn't even have a bus station. Basically, it's a foolish proposal that will not benefit the town.

Steve Travis (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#32

The car park needs to stay

Stephanie White (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#33

I believe there should be at least one car park for the people of Morley which is free as so many of our independent shops customers are made up of our local residents. Help support each other!

Jonathan Litten (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#34

We do not need a play area(I am a parent and we have a play area nearby already), but we do need somewhere to park to access the local shops. The existing car parks are always full. They are being used to capacity and reducing the space available is mind boggling.

Alison Turton (Morley, 2021-11-26)

#35

Alan Wrathall

Alan Wrathall (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#38

I am a regular in Morley and its expensive to park in the other car parks. Its great as its right opposite the market.

Katy Clarke (Leeds , 2021-11-26)

#39

The car park at the back of the market needs to remain a car park in order to maintain the economy in Morley.

Louise Bullock (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#40

Only free parking left

Jacky Stephenson (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#41

I always park in that car park when I’m visiting Morley it’s so easily accessible to the town and I don’t think it’s fair on the people of Morley to have to pay for the parking especially the workers who have to park there because of the other market car park getting changed to a pay car park

Gareth White (Leeds , 2021-11-26)

#43

There’s already a huge park/green space very close by

Alex Williams (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#44

It's a stupid idea

Deborah Millett (Leeds , 2021-11-26)

#46

It will kill morley market and the town as well there is other green space in and around morley without taking the free parking I work in the market (trader)

Gail Mcgough (Morley .leeds, 2021-11-26)

#47

I am signing because we do not wishvto lose the markets custom, removing the car park will be a blow for market traders and customers

Christine Fletcher (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#48

There is not enough parking already

Patricia Grayson (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#49

We need to support our local businesses as much as possible. Parking is terrible in Morley at the best of times never mind taking this important provision away

Dean Carroll (Bradford, 2021-11-26)

#51

It's a ridiculous idea that will stop people shopping in the market even more and it's hard enough for stall holders to earn a living at this time

Andy Gavins (Morley, 2021-11-26)

#52

I regularly visit Morley and use this car park. Making it pay to park will deter a lot of shoppers. Wakefield has successfully offered 2 hours free parking and this has boosted the local economy greatly.

Fisher Jason (Wakefield, 2021-11-26)

#53

The centre of Morley is very busy it will be a huge blow if there is less free parking close to the Market & shops. Im all for more green spaces however there is a lovely park close by where an activity space can be made.

Rachel Arrowsmith (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#54

I am a business owner in Morley and many of our customers use the car park.

Jamie Mcbride (Wakefield , 2021-11-26)

#55

Morley market needs free parking to help with trade not just in the market but for morley in general

Victoria Barrett (Leeds , 2021-11-26)

#56

I have drive round for a parking space as it is . If this goes ahead it will be the death of Morley especially the market which it is already struggling

Ian Price (Morley , 2021-11-26)

#57

I shop in morley as there is free parking and a Kids play area not needed

Alex Kay (Knottingley, 2021-11-26)

#60

I need parking near.where I am shopping

Tony Leveridge (Liversedge, 2021-11-26)

#61

We need the car park!

Gallagher Jill (Yes, 2021-11-26)

#63

I believe we have sufficient green space/play areas in Morley. What we really need is a bus station

Lesley Paterson (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#64

No need for a playground or green belt plenty of parks in morley, carparks needed more for people to come and shop, and not make morley a ghost town .!!

David Wood (Morley , 2021-11-26)

#67

I use this carpark on a regular basis and the council are hell bent on destroying morley, our small market town is being chipped away at by the council with modifications nobody wants.
In 30 years they have pedestrianised and to more disbelief closed a major road at morley bottoms so drinkers at local bars can sit on the old road which is now a pavement.
Making the traffic in surrounding streets impassable.
How many more changes can be made to a small town which will only survive by people visiting it.
Morley is in the domesday book.....if they make any more changes you might as well get the tippex out and remove it from the book as well

Jason Jason (Wakefield, 2021-11-26)

#68

We need the car parks in Morley. Not enough parking as it is!

Rachel Jowett (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#69

I frequently use this car park and without it I may be discouraged from visiting Morley.
There is another park in the area that services this need.

Lee Johnston (Shipley, 2021-11-26)

#70

This car park is a godsend - we do not need another activity area

Rosie Revell (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#71

There is already a play area close by and soon there will be no free parking in Morley.

Keeley Melia (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#72

The removal of the car park will have a severely detrimental impact on shoppers and business owners era who use the market.

Dionne Hood (Bradford , 2021-11-26)

#73

Im a market trader in morley market, i use the carpark every single day apart from sundays, how to i get my stock from my car if i have to park further away, i cant cycle it to work plus where do our customers park? The carpark is too important to the market and morley itself

traci Rayner (Tingley, 2021-11-26)

#74

Morley Council and LCC really don't have a clue. If people can't park or live more than a mile away they will go somewhere else.

Graham Spencer (LEEDS, 2021-11-26)

#77

I do not agree with the proposal - Morley does not have enough parking and this will kill the market - much like removing parking at Leeds market did

Nathan Harwood (Morley Leeds , 2021-11-26)

#79

im signing because we need to keep the parking to keep morley busy

sharon yarker (bradford, 2021-11-26)

#80

I use this car park when out with my disabled mother and we never know how long we’re going to be. Can’t possibly pay for a full day of parking when we may only be an hour.

jessica Smith (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#83

I’m a Morley resident, this would be yet another step towards strangling our town. We encourage visitors yet pedestrianise more roads and alienate them from parking up to enjoy it. The Market traders too need access for their business/stock.

Ananda Hemsley (Morley, 2021-11-26)

#84

I'm signing this petition because it should be free

Dominic Royston (Bradford , 2021-11-26)

#86

I use this regularly

Emma Worrh (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#88

I use this car park and its a valuable as a car rather than a green space as there are plenty of green spaces nearby.

Taranjit Panesar (Morley , 2021-11-26)

#90

Because I have a market still and I think I will affect the foot flow

Corrine Fields (Leeds , 2021-11-26)

#91

I shop in Morley and try & support local businesses which will be lost if they change the parking to paid

Paula Fozard (Batley, 2021-11-26)

#92

Getting rid of all parking in small town centres really impacts small businesses as well as the local workers in Morley. If I had to pay to park I would simply drive to the white rose where it is free

Nicola Murphy (Wakefield, 2021-11-26)

#93

all this will do is encourage people to go to white rose

roy clough (leeds, 2021-11-26)

#94

I believe this carpark is needed for the elderly and infirm to access the shops on the main street of Morley and the market.

Jan Nichol (Morley , 2021-11-26)

#95

We have two parks in morley we need a car park

Christine Dearlove (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#96

Leave it has a car park there is plenty of green parks around morley .hands off

Jacqueline Farrar (White - British, 2021-11-26)

#98

Parking in Morley is an integral part of the attraction of the town.

Pauline Shannon (Morley, Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#100

I've shopped in Morley all my life and car park facilities have reduced for free parking. It's disgusting they allow one to operate via mobile phone some pensioners don't have them and have already had to stop using one or face a fine

Donna Farish-dogru (Batley, 2021-11-26)

#101

Ots going to stop people using it to Bob into the market.

Bulmer Caroline (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#102

Morley needs this parking. It is a busy little place and without adequate parking footfall in the town will drop and affect local businesses

Sarah Tingley (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#105

I believe its not in the best Interest of the people of Morley especially those with disabilities that use car park. Plus there is a park 5mins walk away why is another needed?

Ann MCMILLAN (Leeds , 2021-11-26)

#106

I believe this cat park should be kept free

Sarah Penfold Penfold (Morley, 2021-11-26)

#107

I use this car park frequently. Without it I'd go to morley less

Raisa Karolia (Batley, 2021-11-26)

#108

I support the free car park

Obrien Kerry (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#109

Shopping and working won’t be easy without this car park!!

Diane Tutty (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#110

There is a park and play area very close to this site. There is more need for car parking than another play area

Stephen Kershaw (Morley, Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#111

Morley needs free parking, disgrace it’s could become pay

Robert Oates (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#113

I have a business in Morley market and I would like to be here for many more years. This will be the death of Morley market full stop

Linda Worsnop (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#114

I live outside of the Morley area and often visit Morley Market. I would hesitate to come if there were no longer any free, nearby Parking

Alison Chandler (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#115

Need parking to help the shop's and help Morley

Katie Harper (Wakefield, 2021-11-26)

#116

Free parking brings people in to Morley.

Duncan Smith (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#117

We need more car parks not less and if this is about making more green area why has green area been used to build new homes down Cherwell and the industrial unit plan at Topcliffe farms spend this money on bettering infer structure such as schools and doctors

Lee Worsnop (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#118

It's not nessasary and parking is hard enough as it is!

Hayley Upton (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#119

The car park is one of the reasons I come to Morley. Easy access to shops for mum in he4 wheelchair without hills

Julie Battye (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#120

We need this carpark. It's well used and very handy

Susan Armitage (White - British, 2021-11-26)

#121

Parking is needed in this area. Especially for the market.

Sue Oxley (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#128

Need free parking

Tanya Brussow (Leeds , 2021-11-26)

#129

To keep Morley thriving free parking most definitely needed. Busy market town .

Cridland Jean (Wakefield, 2021-11-26)

#130

Parking is absolute nightmare as it is never mind getting rid of this one! How about upgrading the parks or adding to the ones already there instead

Stacey Nelson (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#131

That's car park is essential to the market and the shops on Queen Street and would have a devastating effect on people's livelihoods if it were to be changed. There are plenty of parks in morley and an activity area is unnecessary.

Donna Hayward (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#132

I am a regular commuter to morley and have grown up in this area. This car park is ideal for all people who commute by car to morley who wish to park local to small independent business. Without car parks like this people will feel less reluctant to visiting which will reduce the footfall and customers for the mentioned local independent businesses and will impact the whole community.

Thomas Marshall (Batley, 2021-11-26)

#135

I live local and see the benefits of the area remaining a free carpark for shoppers in Morley.

Garth Turner (Leeds , 2021-11-26)

#139

All parking in morley should be free

Darren Gobin (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#140

it matters

kirsty oxley (Bradford, 2021-11-26)

#141

We need this carpark

Charles Scarth (Morley, 2021-11-26)

#142

I think it’s important for both shoppers and businesses to keep this car park free of charge. You don’t want to restrict people from visiting such a vibrant, wonderful and busy local shopping location.

Beverley Hampshaw (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#144

Available free parking in Morley is vital to the towns commercial survival , it’s the only way it can hope to compete with the White Rose .

ROBERT INNES (Morley, 2021-11-26)

#145

I live across the road I’m scared they will be an increase in anti social behaviour outside my property

Jordan Buchan (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#148

We need this for people who can't walk far and need the market like many many people

Stephen Watson (Leeds , 2021-11-26)

#149

there is already an activity area in Morley for children but this is the only free car park.vit is also central so a must for the elderly adults.

Enid Stott (Morley, 2021-11-26)

#150

Morley needs car parks for the shops, there's an excellent park a few minutes walk away.

Peter Smith (Morley, 2021-11-26)

#151

Disabled nearest Place to park for market

Mary Dennis (Wakefield , 2021-11-26)

#152

Stupid idea doesn't make sense at all

Jean Wood (Morley, 2021-11-26)

#153

Morley market and its customers need the car park.

Suzanne Pearson (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#154

It's getting ridiculous. What is the councils bigger picture here? When will this stupidity end? The town is literally down to its bare bones regarding footfall. The pedestrianisation didn't help. That deterred people from coming to morley to shop and encouraged them to go to the whiterose. And now to put the final nail in the coffin, the council plan on taking away the small amount of free parking space left. They may as well have all shops boarded up with a map of how to get to the whiterose on them. And don't get me started on bloody housing. Too many houses and flats been thrown up all over on the hollow promises of extra doctors/dentists/schools/road management that we all know have no intention of improving.

Dave Wilson (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#155

Me and my family use this car park while in morley

Lee Thornton (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#157

It’s important for the local shops, especially the market to have customers who can park easily, close by and of course free ! The last one being important and rare nowadays

Clare Sweeney (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#158

There isn't enough parking in Morley and there are quite a few parks in Morley, one being round the corner from the proposed site

claire harrington (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#160

I live in morley and there is a lovely big park near the Town centre and also Lewisham park only a couple of minutes walk away from the car park, neither park is over used so why lose parking space to a garden that may not be very well used. Also, if parking spaces are lost it may affect morley businesses and we need to support local businesses not work against them.

Diane Goodson (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#162

I go to Morley every week and park in that car park

Paula Hughes (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#163

Morley is a very popular shopping/social centre. Visitors in vehicles will be hard pushed to find a parking place if this car park disappears, leading to more traffic congestion.

Eddie Armitage (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#164

Parking is necessary for the economy

Rebecca Carter (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#165

This is a absolute stupid idea and will damage the trade in morley and add yet another under used space any money could be better spent

Steven Lunn (Morley , 2021-11-26)

#168

I believe that this project would mean the end of Morley market.

David Hayes (Tingley, 2021-11-26)

#169

I live in Morley and use this car parking

marc ducey (Leeds , 2021-11-26)

#172

Come the weekends or busy holidays the extra parking is very much in demand. Those of us who live close to the town centre already have problems with our streets clogged with parked cars.

Dee Krantz (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#173

There is no other parking in Morley. THE Wilkinsons and morrisons are full with there shoppers and this is the only other area for parking for shops.

Elizabeth Wilson (Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#174

We need to keep the free parking to help the local businesses

Rebecca Johnson (Leeds , 2021-11-26)

#176

Charging for parking in Morley car parks will deter shoppers from coming to the town and adversely affect local businesses

Constance Evans (Churwell, 2021-11-26)

#177

I use this car park regularly. Less car parking spaces = less footfall, = more businesses closing down.

Ann Adams (Morley, Leeds, 2021-11-26)

#178

wee need the carpark

martin simmonds (leeds, 2021-11-27)

#179

I live in Morley on queen street

Adam Tomlinson (Morley, 2021-11-27)

Dave Monaghan (Leeds, 2021-11-27)

#188

Morley businesses are already suffering because of covid & the new road closures. The market square car park is now payable after 2 hours, so why are you trying to stop people coming into morley???????

Michelle Carter (Leeds, 2021-11-27)

#189

Morley is a lovely town and we need the parking. I bring my mum and the parking is ideal as she is 93 and it's near to every where

Maureen Haddlesey (Bradford , 2021-11-27)

#190

This is a ridiculous idea, which will benefit no one but adversely affect the people and businesses of morley.

Chadwick Emma (Leeds , 2021-11-27)

#191

As an elderly person who has had a stroke, it makes life easier to shop if I can park near the shops.

Barbara Luty (Leeds, 2021-11-27)

#193

There's no parking as it is in Morley, but there are already 2 parks/greenspace.

Charlie Ramsden (Leeds, 2021-11-27)

#194

Morley has been ruined by the planners and closing off the roads to pedestrianize the town, leave the parking alone or the town will not attract shoppers.

Hilary Facey (East End Park, 2021-11-27)

#196

I work at the market and if the car park was closed there wouldn’t be anywhere for the employees of the market to park for free meaning we would loose out on money after we have had a tough time keeping afloat with the pandemic anyway, this is the last thing we need now we are just getting back to normal. Also customers wouldn’t have anywhere to park meaning our footfall would decrease and we wouldn’t get as many sales. It would cost a lot of people there jobs and everything they have worked hard for would be lost.

Amie Fields (Leeds, 2021-11-27)

#197

I'm signing because without this free car park, I wouldn't shop in Morley as I travel by car from New Farnley regularly. Love Morley shopping and would like to continue to visit.

Joannr Marchant (Leeds, 2021-11-27)

#198

The car park is needed for market

Adele Rayner (Bradford, 2021-11-27)

#199

I live in Morley and this car park is essential to ensure the continuous success of the commerce in Morley. Taking away this car park will stop people visiting our town for their shopping and social activities

Karen Earnshaw (Leeds, 2021-11-27)

#200

This would have serious effects on the shoppers who need easy access to the market and local shops. The businesses would definitely lose customers. There are already many play areas in and around Morley including parks! These are located around housing estates where they are needed...not in the centre of a busy market town. Leave that space for the shoppers to keep the town going and open PLEASE this makes no sense whatsoever it is a complete waste of money.
