Save Cayley Kiosk

The Kiosks are a valuable part of the local communty. They are gathering places for people to meet and chat. The prom is wide enough without removing them. Conwy Council just a bunch of snobs. The new cafe wich opened some months ago is not under threat.

I am in favour of more cafe retail outlets in this spot. It's a great meeting area and social meeting point.

Tudor Griffiths (Llandudno, 2021-10-25)

Ridiculous proposal. Absolutely no need for this to happen.

I am a regular customer at the Cayley during the spring, summer and autumn.I ride a motorcycle and I always stop there .To me the Cayley ,with it's wonderful staff,is the very essence of a seaside resort.I am totally dismayed at the news it may be forced to close.

Tony Bourne (Wallasey, 2021-10-27)

They are a lifeline to many people. Very much a part of the community. Well liked and friendly.

This is a shocking error of judgement by CCBC

Martin Barlow (Cefn, 2021-10-27)

#610

The decision is totally selfish and irresponsible.

Langridge-Jones Marilyn (Denbigh, 2021-10-27)

They are are enjoyed by many people and are thriving businesses

These kiosks not only serve tourists but are a local amenity much used, supported, and appreciated by many, many, local residents. Residents who the council and councillors need to remember pay rates - and vote in local elections.

Catherine Hart (Conwy, 2021-10-27)

#614

It’s a vital part of Rhos.

Jennie Hulme (London , 2021-10-27)

The Cayley and the other kiosks are a fundamental part of the prom in Rhos on Sea and used by so many people local and tourists. To lose it would be detrimental to both local people and tourism...

I drive past the kiosks a couple of times a week and there are always lots of people using them. Not only would you be taking away people's livelihoods but also a vital part of the community. They are used by locals and tourists alike. Keep the kiosks and stop trying to change things that don't need changing.

Angela Heath (Rhos on Sea, 2021-10-28)

I used to live in Colwyn Bay and now we are still not miles away and do visit often. The Kiosks are part of the Proms history never mind the businesses who have been there for years and the jobs they give.

Allonby Selena (DENBIGH, 2021-10-28)

#640

The kiosks are a valuable resource for the community and for visitors. Improve the cycle route but don't demolish the kiosks! They provide a welcome break from taking exercise on the prom and a chance to reduce isolation for older people by meeting new friends. We need them!

Jacqui Hemming (Llandudno, 2021-10-28)

#642

An absolute disgrace!! Shame on Conwy County council for even considering pulling the cayley kiosk in rhos on sea down.

I care about the owners livelihood, the amazing service he provides to those who visit from near and far

Just modernise them, they don’t need to go!!!

We moved to Rhos on sea 5 years ago & I walk my dog along the prom everyday , it is so lovely to stop & have a cuppa on route & see locals & holiday makers chatting & meeting socially , it would be so sad to see this fabulous little kiosk go ,the owner & staff are so friendly & welcoming , please , please don’t ruin their livelihood……

I have lived in R o S for over 60 years and the kiosks are a central element to the promenade and should remain in any upgrade

John Bryan-Williams (Rhos on Sea, 2021-10-28)

#649

I feel the kiosks are too important to locals and visitors to loose.

Linda Jones (Colwyn Bay, 2021-10-28)

#651

The Cayley Kiosk is an integral part of the Promenade and loved and used by residents and holidaymakers alike. It is a place to meet friends, make new friends and chat or just to take in the views.

Janet Stevenson (Llandudno Junction hi, 2021-10-28)

They are a valuable asset to Rhos, it’s residents and visitors all year round!

This is a successful business that provides a hub for locals and excellent service for tourists.
Council need to listen to the people they made promises to and voted for them.

Derrick Towlson (Colwyn Bay, 2021-10-28)

#657

I walk the promenade every day and this kiosk is a hub for the community all year round. It is always busy, spotlessly clean, lovely staff and a great social spot for anyone on their own.

Mary Mayles (Colwyn bay, 2021-10-28)

#659

We need these kiosks

Lynn Betteridge (Colwyn bay, 2021-10-28)

Kiosks on a coastal beaches. Should remain untouchable. Done no harm and have been part of a community for decades and is a business as well as a tourist attraction. The public have a legal say. The council are depending on the public for council tax payments. Its the publics decision not the council... we the public nominate you. Goes both ways!

Willi Wills (Conwy, 2021-10-28)

#665

I'm signing this petition because the Caley kiosk, and others, is an essential go-to place for meeting friends and enjoying time together iin a relaxed and convivial setting. It provides the dual function of both bringing the promenade to life and, in so doing, provides crucial facilities for supporting local residents to promote and nurture a feeling of community, whilst also spreading interest for visitors more widely along the promenade.

Castle Jonathan (Colwyn Bay, 2021-10-28)

#666

I feel that the council have not considered what the local people really want, it’s also destroying the livelihoods of people who have provided a much needed service. Keep our Cayley!!

Ann Bradshaw (Chester, 2021-10-28)

#669

These kiosks are part of Rhos-on-sea community. Our residents love to walk down for a drink by the sea & meet up with friends.

Routledge Tina (Conwy, 2021-10-29)

#671

These kiosks provide useful services and should not be removed before replacements have been built.

Lisa Lingard (Old Colwyn, 2021-10-29)

#673

The kiosks make walks along the the promenade a pleasanter and more sociable event. I am appalled that anyone would think that they had the right to take away the livelihood of people carrying out legitimate and beneficial work.

Jane Liddy (Rhos on Sea, 2021-10-29)

#674

My husband spends hours sitting with his Cayley Cronies. If the kiosk is demolished and he ends up staying at home, my life will be ruined!

Hazel Robertson (Rhos-on-Sea, 2021-10-29)

#675

The kiosks are a lifeline to many people, they enhance the beautiful Rhos on Sea promenade with real charm and character, has nothing been learned from the councils ideas on “improving” other seaside resorts such as Rhyl?

Julie Davies (Brynford, 2021-10-29)

#682

We quite often come to this part of North Wales, we enjoy a day out, taking the dogs for a walk and enjoying the sea front ond the coastline views.

The kiosks are invaluable, we enjoy getting a coffee and a bite to eat during our walks, if you remove them you'll be removing a lot of visitors as well as I'm not sure that we would come to the area without these handy places to stop and enjoy some refreshments, with great friendly staff.

We very often stop off for a cuppa, toasted tea cake and ice cream and then sit in our car and relax watching the waves and just enjoying all that lies before us. It’s a part of our lives and means so much to us.

the Cayley Kiosk is for local people as well as for tourists. Local people have more of a say as to what happens to it

Because I use the kiosk regularly.
Either stopping while walking on the prom or sometimes while running for a bottle of water .
I use it all year round and there’s absolutely no reason to close it . It’s always busy and perfectly adequate for its needs.

These kiosks have been such a welcome port of call for so many locals and visitors over the years. Please don't take away a local lifeline for many lonely people as well as a good place to eat good food and excellent coffee!

Sian Messamah (Rhos on Sea, 2021-11-08)

#698

I cannot see the reasoning for getting rid of the kiosks for this proposed new development. They are part of the heritage of Rhos on Sea and should be retained. The people who work so hard keeping these kiosks going for locals and tourists deserve all the support they can get.

Chris Jones (Conwy, 2021-11-12)

#699

I regularly use rhos on sea kiosks as do so many other locals

Leah Perry (Llandudno, 2021-11-12)

#701

Noise, disruption to traffic, stress caused. It's a waste of tax payers money with no meaningful benefit. Leave the prom as it is. Leave the kiosk alone, stop destroying lives without a second thought. We love the kiosk, nice man, good food, its a tradition. Get it listed, protect it. Stop destroying history and heritage.

Steve Wharfe (Colwyn Bay , 2021-11-23)

#703

There is nothing wrong with our prom that new tarmac wouldn't cure. The small business draw in people

Anne Snape (Colwyn Bay, 2021-11-23)

#705

The kiosks bring people in, provide livelihood and need saving and improving not destroying. The one way system is ridiculous and will destroy the chance to sit peacefully on a bench at the top the the Cayley Promenade. I can’t see the problem with the road as it is. Only people parking slows the traffic. There are no problems.

Anna Day (Colwyn Bay, 2021-12-12)

The kiosks are part of the fabric of the West Promenade. They have been for as long as I can remember back to the 1970s, equally valuable for an ice cream in summer and a hot drink in the winter. The kiosks are part of what makes the promenade special and represent an added attraction for locals and visitors. It is incumbent on the council to find the budget for this investment - and an investment it is both in terms of rental yield ( check the return on the build costs of the existing kiosks!) & the indirect benefit of supporting local business and employment.
