It's time for the Minor Injuries Unit at Cossham Hospital

There is no facility for attention and medical needs near this area. It was a godsend for me and my fellow friends when getting treatment as children with small cuts and broken bones.Robert Monday (Bristol, 2021-10-13)
#202
Cossham Hospital resides on the boundary of two Local Authorities and is easily accessible by public transport. Parking is already in place and it would take pressure off of the other overstretched MIUs and A and E facilities.Carol BOND (Bristol, 2021-10-13)

I want a minor injury unit locally as I live in Kingswood and it would be very hard to get to Southmead from here.Susan Cook (Bristol, 2021-10-16)
#220
Since the closure of Frenchay hospital there has been no local minor injuries unit created as promised. We have a large contingent of elderly as well as young children in this area. We are therefore left with no other option but to travel to A&E which is closer than Yate minor injuries unit. Neither of these are easy to get to without a car.Angela King (Bristol, 2021-10-17)

We need an A and E closer than Southmead Hospital. Yate is too far in an emergency too.Grace Nicholls (Bristol, 2021-10-18)
#235
My mother who lives in Kingswood needed to go to MIU recently and I had to take her all the way to Yate. Seems ridiculous when there is a hospital in Kingswood!Clare Wyatt (Bristol, 2021-10-19)
#238
It would make sense to have an MIU at Cossham Hospital which people living this side of Bristol could use. Our nearest MIU is at Yate at present since Frenchay Hospital closed .mary.w.harris@icloud.com Harris (Kingswood,Bristol, 2021-10-19)
#239
It’s essential for our local community to have the MIU especially since we lost Frenchay A&E to Southmead HospitalLisa Curtis (Bristol , 2021-10-20)
#245
The need for a Minor Injuries Unit in east Bristol is obvious because of the distance to the nearest A&E.Alternative treatment a Doctors surgerys is non starter because of the Fort Knox mentality of these surgeries due to their strategy regarding the ongoing pandemic
Michael Philip Marshall (Bristol, 2021-10-21)
#246
I’m passionate about using Cossham Hospital as it was donated to the local people and it would provide an essential service locally relieving the A&E Services that are being used at the moment.Margaret Curry (Bristol, 2021-10-22)
#248
East Bristol needs a minor injuries unit. I live in East Bristol and my nearest is actually in Bath!!! I really think that A&E visits would be greatly reduced by having a local minor injuries unit at Cossham.Jackie Cook (Bristol, 2021-10-23)
#250
This would be a fantastic addition to the area as of the last few years there is no emergency help available in this area! I have had to take my father to a&e several tomes recently and both nearest hospitals have been over 6 hr waits due to not coping with the influx. Some visits needed hospitalisation but a few could have easily been covered by a MIU. Since the doctors only work office ours now, I beleive it would be invaluable to have this to cover our area.Sue Durbin (Bristol, 2021-10-23)
#251
There is a huge gap in first line care left by frenchay that is putting pressure on gps and a&e that blocks essential appointments for those that need them.Bryant Joanne (Bristol, 2021-10-23)
#254
I am signing because we were promised a MIU when the issue was first raised , however the NHS went back on their word and it didn't happen.Barry Tinner (Bristol, 2021-10-25)
#255
There is no major hospital in the county of South Gloucestershire, therefore it is necessary to have a minor injury unit in this locality. If for no other reason than for cutting down on journey times and helping alleviate climate change, as well as getting more immediate help with any health issues.Yvonne Thomson (Bristol, 2021-10-27)
#256
East Bristol needs a minor injuries unit more than ever with an increasing frail and elderly population and the pressure community nursing and allied health services are experiencing at present. We are still awaiting decisions in relation to the number and types of beds that will be provided in the promised Community Hospital on the Frenchay site. It is important for older people to be given options and control regarding where they want to be treated and carrd for, and many feel much safer closer to home and in a more familiar environment. Please ensure that Cossham Hospital remains central to the community it was gifted to all those years ago by Handel Cossham, in order to continue to provide health and social care and well being.Rosalyn Pyle (Webbs Heath, 2021-10-27)
#262
East Bristol needs it's own MIU. I am 74, I rely on public transport to get about and Cossham Hospital is my local hospital and is accessible by bus. The RUH is more accessible by bus than Southmead Hospital from where I live, even the BRI, albeit on an hour-long bus ride plus a long walk. Handel Cossham would be turning in his grave knowing that the hospital that he gifted to local residents was not now available to them for minor injuries.Helen Bevan (BRISTOL, 2021-10-28)
#265
Simply put we need this.Bryan Garlick (Bristol, 2021-10-29)
#266
It is a hospital originally gifted to the people of Kingswood for of aid their medical conditions (IE NOT an actual built NHS hospital) Also MIU was promised when Cossham hospital was to be reconfiguredTim Gibbs (Bristol, 2021-10-29)
#268
We do not even have a direct bus to Yate ! Nor, really to anywhere else. I recently went to Cossham for a chest X-ray and think it is vital to save Cossham for the residents of Kingswood, to whom it was originally donated.Janet Williams (Bristol, 2021-10-29)
#269
I needed to visit Cossham for an x-ray. If it was not for Cossham being within walking distance I would have had to travel a lvery ong way without a car.Stephen Williams (Bristol, 2021-10-29)

This is my local hospital and south and east Bristol are being left behind as far as health services are concerned. We have terrible transport links to north Bristol therefore we urgently need this facility.Jane Lawrence (Bristol, 2021-10-30)

East Bristol needs a MIU as promisedseveral years ago and the NHS reneged
on this. People including pensioners
currently have to make a long and inconvenient journey to the nearest MIU
for treatment. This is unacceptable and
needs to be remedied NOW!

We need this facility for the people of Kingswood as there is nothing in the area.Roberta Locke (Bristol , 2021-11-03)

#292
It is our local hospital essential for the elderly and young families,we need it to happen!!!Fred Abraham (Bristol , 2021-11-05)
#296
We need a minor injuries unit in this part of south Glos. Southmead, BRI and Yate are all too far away and with so many more new housing, and elderly residents more medical facilities are needed to treat minor injuries to stop the main A & E depts being clogged up. Let them.deal.with the.major stuff. Everythjng is pratically there already to run a MIU. Frenchay was ripped away from us and nothing left to replace it. A community hospital was promised 15 years ago and still no sign of it. Gives us somethingNicola Harris (Bristol, 2021-11-07)
#297
There is no 'in between' hospital services in the area....it is a choice of trying to book at a GP or visit one of the two city A&E departments. The ever expanding population of East Bristol needs this MIU service.Alastair Jack (Lyde Green , 2021-11-07)
#302
This was promised!Philip West (Bristol , 2021-11-10)

Since the loss of Frenchay Hospital, the £19m refurbishment of Cossham was supposedly inclusive of the promise of aMinorInjuries Unit. This promise has not been fulfilled and is urgently needed following the abject failure of the two year attempt to provide it via local gp surgeries which I believe was a sop to fob off complaints about the broken promise.Henry Olpin (Bridtol, 2021-11-18)

I’m signing because East Bristol has no emergency medical facility since the closure of Frenchay hospital.Christine Weedon (Bristol , 2021-11-20)

When I needed hospital treatment for a broken wrist I went to Bath hospital and came home on two buses because the A and E waiting times were so bad here in Bristol. We need an A and E for minor injuries in East Bristol at Cossham Hospital.C Stones (Bristol, 2021-11-20)

62 years ago, when I was 5 years old, I was rushed to Cossham by the only neighbour with a car, after I had been hit on the head by a lump of falling metal. I had a number of stitches in my forhead. If that happened to anyone now, they would need to go to Southmead or the BRI, which is not straightforward, especially if they do not have access to a car. I therefore believe it is essential for Cossham Hospital to have a minor injury unit as originally promised.John Watts (Bristol, 2021-11-26)
#353
The unit was promised and is much needed to serve local people and take some pressure off Southmead A&ESandra Zealand (Bristol, 2021-11-26)

We do not have a local hospital now so should at least be provided with a local MIC

This was promised and it makes sense for people in this area to have a more local minor injuries unit. Instead of going to Southmead on the other side of Bristol or over to Bath. This would also increase capacity in the other hospitals.John Dalgarno (Bristol, 2021-12-10)
