I’m signing as a local resident who loves using the park with my family. This proposed development is obtrusive and overbearing - it would be a huge disappointment to see the views and park disrupted by this new build.

Laura Woodfield (Weston super Mare, 2021-08-20)

#802

Not inkeeping with the surrounding area and would look an absolute eye sore. The money should be invested in restoring the pier.

Sarah Parish (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-20)

#808

The development is unsympathetic to the surrounding area. Developer has allowed the old pier to deteriorate and left the Weston ratepayers to pay for demolition and tidying the old Royal Pier hotel site.

Shirley Watts (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-20)

#809

A three storey building would be more appropriate…preferably a hotel or affordable housing

John Martin (Weston super Mare , 2021-08-20)

#811

I have known this area for many years & have happy memories of the old hotel with its beautiful views. The proposed development does not complement the surrounding architecture & would spoil the view for future generations. In my opinion the main concern here is making as much profit as possible.

Diana Kinsey (Weston Super Mare, 2021-08-20)

#812

This area needs to be done up and preserved, not a high rise building built near it!
It's so sad, I've waited years for this area to be regenerated/the pier to be done back up, but this is not the way forward.

Natalie Price (TAUNTON, 2021-08-20)

#814

I'm sick of our town being ruined by modern developments which detract from the Victoriana and the natural beauty.

Sallyann Mansfield (Winscombe, 2021-08-20)

#815

I am signing this petition because I feel that CNM should have spent the money on restoring the Old Pier instead of creating an eyesore for the residents of WSM plus spoiling what is at present a lovely view with a tower block monstrosity. I am Weston born and bred and I am proud of my heritage and wish to protect it.

Susan Boddington (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-20)

#816

CNM cannot be trusted, considering the state of Birnbeck Pier; which they own. As a local resident, I thoroughly oppose this and agree with all the points raised by The Birnbeck Conservation Group. This cannot be allowed to go ahead, this area of Weston is in dire need of regeneration but not this way.

Samantha Boyd-Price (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-20)

#819

I don't want a Tower Block near Prince Consort Garden s

Alan Merrick (Weston super Mare, 2021-08-20)

#820

THEY HAVE ALREADY BEEN STOPPED FROM BUILDING THIS ATROCITY ONCE

Michael Newman (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-20)

#822

I'm a local resident, living just a short distance away on the hillside. I regularly visit Prince Consort Gardens to enjoy the stunning views and this development will completely ruin them, for no other reason than the greed of a tiny number of people. You don't create economic regeneration in an area by destroying one of its greatest assets and this development does nothing positive for the current residents of Weston-super-Mare. The contempt that CNM Estates have for the people of Weston is clearly demonstrated through their wilful neglect of Birnbeck Pier and any proposed developments with their involvement should be rejected out of hand.

Oliver Barrett (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-20)

#827

I live here, I don’t want that monstrosity built. It will dwarf all around it and ruin the view for all.

Tessa Deeks (Weston Super Mare , 2021-08-20)

#833

It will be overbearing

Phil Edmonds (Weston Super Mare, 2021-08-21)

#834

This proposed development will destroy the natural beauty of the coastal area and will be extremely detrimental to the economy of WestonsuperMare given its location and significance as a tourist destination.

John Truelove (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-21)

#836

I care the town where I live, about conservation, the environment and those people who live in the area. CNM estates have not exactly supported these important issues. The Birnbeck Pier and hotel site being prime examples of their properties and land being left in a dangerous state of repair. Incidentally, do they still owe the local authority c£100,000 that had to be spent to make the hotel site safe after the fire? This company should not be allowed to build for the reasons above.

Teresa Turner (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-21)

#838

I care about the appearance of my town

philip dinham (weston-s-mare, 2021-08-21)

#843

I live in Weston-super-Mare it would be detrimental to the town

Sandra Ives (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-21)

#850

I spend a lot of time in Weston Super Mare and look on the Prince Consort Gardens as a haven with a wonderful view. This development is out of scale.

Janet Brown (Colchester, 2021-08-21)

#851

The scale of the proposed building is out of keeping with the surrounding area, will ruin the views of the sea and will cause severe parking problems

Clifford Nicholls (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-21)

#861

The company that own everything at the moment are ruining our town.

Steve Bottreill (Banwell, 2021-08-21)

#863

I'm signing because the proposed development is inappropriate for the site, and because the developer has a poor record locally for responsible management of its property.

Beverley Hall (WESTON-SUPER-MARE, 2021-08-21)

#866

The proposal is far too large.

Jacquetta Miner (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-22)

#871

I do not want the view from Prince Consort Gardens ruined.

Steve Payne (Weston super Mare, 2021-08-22)

#872

I live in the flats behind where the proposed building with be and it will completely spoil the view

Wayne Hill (Bristol , 2021-08-22)

#875

I'm signing because I do not believe this will enhance or fit in with the current look of Weston. It will be an absolute eyesore.

Pauline Wynne (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-22)

#876

I would love to see the Prince Consort Gardens retain their unique place in the hearts of all those who love Weston-super-Mare.

Noel Hetherington (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-22)

#879

I live near this site and don’t want the view to change plus there are many other places that can be developed and regenerated in the town and a sea view development is not required at this location as it is not good for the residents of the town.

Iona Gibbons (Weston Super Mare, 2021-08-22)

I grew up in Weston and lived in South Road. I worked on Birnbeck Pier when the boats came to us from Wales and as a boy caught tadpoles in the pond of the park that is now the car park above prince consort gardens. I have led near Yeovil for the last 30 ish years but 2 weeks ago had reason to deliver my Grandmother back to Hutton after a visit. In the spare hour I had I went to my most favourite place in Weston and walked from PCG around Anchor Head and back up to my car after sitting and enjoying the amazing views PCG gives. What a fantastic place to sit and relax.
I like to compare it a little to the Gardens above Lyme Regis which I also love to visit. It is impossible to believe that the residents of LR would allow an 8 storey building to destroy the amazing local vista and W-S-M residents should just not allow it to happen.
I really hope that I can back to PCG in a few years and enjoy that amazing view around the bay for all residents and guests present and past.

Russell Jones (Martock, 2021-08-22)

#883

It’s not in keeping with the local area

Tracey Brookes (Weston Super Mare, 2021-08-23)

#884

This developer has not proved to be a good curator of the Pier and has no respect for the heritage of the area - this plan is not appropriate.

Julie Williams (Weston super Mare, 2021-08-23)

#885

It’s an irresponsible and insensitive development for that area. Significantly out of scale for the location - twice the hight of the previous building. It would reduce the view from the gardens behind and reduce the pleasure for residents and visitors alike. I also object because this is the same developer who has left the pier - an historic location -to fall further into disrepair. They are incapable of fulfilling commitments they make. Why would the council further support a developer who has a history of failed developments.

Robin Widdowson (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-23)

#890

Redevelopment of the hotel is a positive move. Weston has so much to offer, Prince Consort gardens are a place of tranquility offering fabulous views across the bay which would be lost once planners allow our home to become a Benidorm lookalike. Beautiful sunsets for a ‘selected’ few?

Liz Blyth (Weston-Super-Mare , 2021-08-23)

#891

Spoiling the view

Laura Hawkins (Weston super mare, 2021-08-23)

#894

The height of the proposed flats is too high and will block the superb views from the Prince Consort Gardens.

Gillian Fursey (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-23)

#901

I agree that we mustn't let these developers spoil our town

Dorothy Leakey (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-24)

#903

The panoramic view of the bay would be the envy of many other seaside resorts and should be preserved not destroyed.

Michael Colgan (Weston super Mare, 2021-08-24)

#906

The building of a monstrous high tower block of flats would completely ruin the glorious outlook and view from Prince Consort Gardens and would be a complete blot on the landscape of Weston Super Mare I hope the council will have enough sense and realisation that this project should definitely NOT be approved

Yvonne Armstrong (Burnham on sea, 2021-08-24)

#914

I am signing to help preserve some of the heritage we have left in Weston.

Roger Bowden (Weston super mare, 2021-08-25)

#916

The design of this new hotel is unsightly.
It will not blend in with the surrounding area of buildings. It will obscure views across the bay. Far too much glass, it looks like an over enlarged greenhouse. Awful design.

M Lewis (Weston-Super-Mare, 2021-08-25)

#918

We don't need any more hotels we should renovate the old decapitated ones

Hazel smitho (Weston-Super-Mare, 2021-08-25)

#920

Another monstrosity just like the Knightstone one. Absolute joke

Dan Farbrother (WITHAM, 2021-08-25)

#923

The proposed imposing development is not in keeping with the area. The view from Prince Consort Gardens should be protected for all to enjoy.

Victoria Watkins (Atlantic Road Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-26)

#927

As regular user of Prince Consort Gardens I believe that this 8 storey development would ruin the beautiful views from the gardens which is why many people visit the park. I urge the council not to permit such the construction of such a high building.

Adele Hammond (Weston super mare, 2021-08-28)

#929

I have visited there for over 30 years and seen the hotel that was originally there demolished which was sad but to build a high rise block would spoil the place there's no need for a high rise block there it's good to regenerate but it would be for second homes or holiday flats not the locals who can afford such luxury

Tracey Round (Wednesbury, 2021-08-29)

#931

I'm signing because the changes suggested would not be sympathetic to the area

Alison Farr (Beverley, 2021-08-29)

#934

It's horrendous and I am fed up with CNM estates. When are they going to pay Weston Council what they owe!

Jeff Realff (Weston-Super-Mare, 2021-08-30)

#935

I walk a lot along Weston seafront and it won't be a nice view from Prince Consort Gardens if this project will get a green light.

Malgorzata Gilbert (Weston-super-Mare , 2021-08-30)

#938

Lack of parking spaces lack of aminates
Ect and doesn’t confirm with the area

Mike Watts (Weston S Mare, 2021-08-31)

#940

I think those block of flats will disfigure this lovely, nor over-built original part of the Town: the planned building it is far too high and the wrong sort of look, it should be low-rise and built in old stones preferably to blend with the sea-front walls or look more like Westcliffe just above.

Francine Richardson (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-31)

#944

The proposed height of this tower would ruin the view of the amazing Birnbeck pier for local residents and visitors. We need to maintain the heritage and this tower would be unethical and negative

Lorna Bryce (Weston Super Mare, 2021-09-01)

#951

It would be the most heinous crime to erect a building that would block the wonderful, breath-taking view across the bay.
This view is so essential to the wellbeing of 100s of thousands of people who use the area.
Stop the idiocy!

Angie Morley (Weston-super-Mare , 2021-09-02)

#955

The proposed development is unsightly and is unsympathetic to the surrounding area and views

Andrew Dudley (Bleadon, Weston super Mare, 2021-09-05)

#956

The phrase 'don't s*** where you eat* comes to mind. Don't build on green land which you might later miss. The world will experience 'green guilt' soon for taking over land; which is not only beautiful and untamed, but houses vast communities of minibeasts and animals. All over a select few's arrogance. They then push this blame on us, the people. End this cycle of narcissistic abuse and media gaslighting.

Rehaan Shahid (Birmingham , 2021-09-05)

#959

I totally disagree with that monstrosity of modern block of flats. This is a victorian town. I support Birnbeck Pier.

Ellen Nation (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-09-06)

#961

Totally out of keeping for this heritage part of Weston-super-Mare

Michael Thorne (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-09-07)

#963

There are already too many new houses/flats ruining the views and infrastructure of WsM

Elaine Whittaker (Weston-Super-Mare, 2021-09-08)

#965

This would a totally inappropriate and unsympathetic development of the site. The proposed height is wrong for the surroundings

Christine Rodgers (Yatton, 2021-09-10)

#966

i dont want to loose the view from the park.

Paul Sargent (Weston-Super-Mare, 2021-09-10)

#967

Inappropriate development which will have unwanted impacts for residents of Weston super mare

Stephen J Parker (North Petherton , 2021-09-10)

#968

I lived in Kewstoke for many years until recently and sitting in the Prince Consort garden looking out to sea on a sunny day was good for both my health and mental health. Looking at a block of concrete will not have the same effect.

Teresa James (Reading, 2021-09-10)

#972

I don’t want a high rise building blocking such an amazing view

Wally hitch (Wolverhampton , 2021-09-10)

#974

The proposed plans would be an eyesore blocking one of Westons finest and most loved views. The owner of the estate company cares nothing for our town or the area and is purely driven by potential profit.
This needs to be blocked for the sake of local businesses and residents.

Chris Lewis (Weston-super-Mare , 2021-09-11)

#976

It would change Weston's horizon extensively and ruin the view from every perspectIve!! Money! Money! Money!!!!

Orbs Ville (Weston, 2021-09-11)

#982

I don't want to see a property of this size replacing the old hotel

Hugh Eckett (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-09-12)

#985

I live behind Prince consult Gardens it will spoil a beautiful veiw

Lynn York (Weston Super Mare , 2021-09-12)

#993

The wonderful wide view from the gardens is special and must be retained for all

Richard Bennett (Weston super Mare, 2021-09-16)

#994

It’s too high and will block out too much of our beautiful coastal views.

Yoland Buckley (Weston-Super-Mare, 2021-09-16)

#996

Another attempt to totally ruin the character of Weston
