STOP THE TOWER BLOCK - SAVE BIRNBECK & PRINCE CONSORT GARDENS

I am signing because I have known that view for over 70 years. It was the view from my school window as well. Do not spoil good views.

Elisabeth Manners (Wells, 2021-07-22)

#405

Its the best views anywhere in Weston, I use it regularly

David Young (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-07-22)

#407

I live in a conservation area and this will detract from the beauty of the surrounding area. The building is not in the character of the surrounding buildings nor is it in keeping with the height of other buildings. Parking will also cause concern in an already saturated area.

Shiela Sadler (Weston super Mare, 2021-07-23)

#408

Such a build threatens the conservation area - any such build should be at a low level or ideally not done at all

Paul Walkinshaw (CHEDDAR, 2021-07-23)

#410

I object to it being 8 storeys high

Richard Hodge (Weston-super-mare, 2021-07-23)

#411

I’m signing because I was one of the founding members of The Friends of Prince Consort Gardens and instrumental in obtaining Town Green Status.

Christine Balson (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-07-23)

#413

I remember taking my children on it years ago also it’s one of few remaining Piers in the country.

Jacqueline Lune (Weston super Mare, 2021-07-23)

#414

I am a regular visitor to Weston and love the gardens. Coming from coventry I know how devastating high rise can be. Especially to a beutifull place like these gardens.

John Moulsdale (Coventry, 2021-07-23)

#415

I think this will spoil the skyline of the seafront 7 floors is too high. None of the other building have Severn floors

Janet Lundy (Weston-super-mare, 2021-07-23)

#420

This development is totally inappropriate for this site. Any new building should not exceed the height or footprint of the hotel previously on the site. Design should be in keeping with the surrounding area.

Mary Jetemy (Weston-Super-Mare, 2021-07-23)

#425

If this building gets built it will block the view of one of the most beautiful spots in weston there will also be more cars traffic on those roads

Norma Corp (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-07-24)

#434

I'm singing up because this will be built right in front of my flat completely obliterating my beautiful daily view of the sea and gorgeous evening sunsets!

Tony Haworth (Weston-super-Mare , 2021-07-24)

#436

I have relatives there who love this place. Keep this open space for the public to enjoy rather than line developers’ pockets.

Eileen Betteridge (Eastleigh, 2021-07-24)

#438

There is no disagreement that the area near Birnbeck Pier, and the pier itself (which has been left to deteriorate with no respect for its historical importance) need regeneration. The proposed CNM development is totally unsympathetic to this area. Why would we agree to this build when this Company has made no attempt to restore the old pier. If CNM put forward a more appropriate plan, the people of Weston may be more amenable. We recognise regeneration is necessary to this area of our wonderful town but it must be done in the right way.

Emma Bamsey (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-07-24)

#439

I’m signing because it would be a disgrace to have that built there.

Andrea Taylor (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-07-24)

#442

It will look a monstrosity! 3 storeys will be bad enough, and we will accept that, but NOT EIGHT

Marianne Warren (Weston Super Mare, 2021-07-24)

#444

I live here and I don't won't to look at a horrible building why would you won't to ruin the view?

Sarah Stone (North somerset , 2021-07-25)

#445

Save our coastline from such developments. Either lower the block or do not build at all.

Kathryn Goldie (Weston super Mare, 2021-07-25)

#452

I'm signing as I believe that this will have a highly detrimental effect on the area. I also have absolutely no confidence that CNM have any concern for Weston, except for their own profiteering. What they have done for the Birnbeck area is appalling and before they do anything else the debt to NSC for demolition and making safe should be repaid in full with interest.

Nick Lawrence (weston super mare, 2021-07-25)

#454

It will spoil the view from the gardens and homes on the sea front, it will make that end of town too busy. We have enough empty properties, do something with them first.

Pamela Hudson (Weston super mare , 2021-07-25)

#457

We need to conserve the area

Celia Moore (Swindon , 2021-07-25)

#458

because i believe this company is unethical , and does not have sny interest in this area , is only interest is making more dirty money

lily schofield (weston super mare, 2021-07-25)

#459

I do not believe that any buildings should be constructed anywhere that obscure views for others.
Nobody deserves to lose their view and nobody wants to be on the beach looking up at a monstrosity

Jaki Cook (Weston Super Mare, 2021-07-26)

#460

I lived and grew up in Weston and return to it regularly. It's disgusting that this company have left the pier to deteriorate so badly and have manipulated legal loopholes to prevent anyone else from acquiring it. The development might be in keeping with a city centre, but is completely out of character with Weston.

Trudie Lauter (Northwich, 2021-07-26)

#461

Most of my childhood was spent in this area,my best friends family owned 1 south road, and from every part of this beautiful house ,you had wonderful views.
Now years later, and the house has been converted into flats,my son now lives there, the views are stunning,it is one of the reasons people choose to live there, such an asset.
Now with this ugly monstrosity proposed ,most of the people living there, and the surrounding area will loose this beautiful view, only to look out to a wall of concrete.
It is an outstanding area, and for this to be ruined for someone's profit ,for the benefit of the few, totally disregarding the many is a travesty.

Sheridan Barmaki (WESTON-SUPER-MARE, 2021-07-26)

#464

It’s important

Mary Sear (Winchester, 2021-07-26)

#467

A building this size will spoil the view across the water towards Brean Down from Prince Consort gardens

Tony Williams (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-07-26)

#468

It is such a despicable proposal

Rosemary Pike (Weston-Super-Mare, 2021-07-26)

#469

I use Prince Consort Gardens as have my gran and great gran before me did. It will just be another block of flats that are built with money making mainly in mind ( out of town developers?) with no respect for the local people, view or landscape, hence the 8 storeys!

Alison Irons (WESTON-SUPER-MARE, 2021-07-26)

#470

goes without say it will ruin the view and stand out like a sore thumb

Sally Williams (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-07-27)

#474

A building of this height is totally out of keeping with both this area and of Weston in general. The building should be no higher than the former hotel.

Gordon Court (Weston-s-Mare, 2021-07-27)

#475

It's unsightly!

Llisa Marie (Weston-super-Mare , 2021-07-28)

#476

The building is way to high and will spoil the whole appearance of the seafront.

John Bender (Weston Super Mare, 2021-07-28)

#478

The proposed development is totally out of character within the Birnbeck area . In addition to this, the height far exceeds the original building and would block the views and completely spoil the outlook of those of us who enjoy spending quality time in the beautiful and peaceful Prince Consort Gardens.

Birnbeck NW (Weston super Mare, 2021-07-28)

#482

Preserve the view

Jim Derby (Weston s Mare, 2021-07-29)

#483

I have a dear friend who we visit regularly, whose apartment overlooks the gardens and channel, putting us in a position to appreciate the devastating effect that this development would have on the original concept of the gardens and the principle of listing Westcliffe.

Stephen Checketts (Birmingham , 2021-07-29)

#486

The integrity of the area would be lost. 8 stories is totally out of scale for the area

Colin Clark (Bristol, 2021-07-29)

#490

I visit Weston quite often and enjoy the view from Westcliff across the gardens and channel. This would be greatly affected and go against the original intention of the gardens.

Mary Checketts (Halesowen, 2021-07-29)

#491

This would be the beginning of ruining our seaside town. Our beach is our biggest asset, not being able to see it because of tall buildings makes no sense at all.

Joan Jenkinson (Weston Super Mare , 2021-07-29)

#494

I lived in 2012 there. I love this town and the landscape. The view in wsm is just awesome.

Rafik Ben Khemis (Paris, 2021-07-29)

#495

I don’t want this.

John Prideaux (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-07-29)

#499

I have lived in Weston since 1955 and my grandparents before me .l am really upset about what is happening to Weston and how the face of it has changed

Jane Raven (Hereford, 2021-07-31)

#500

This would dominate Prince Consort Gardens.

Sandra JACKSON (Weston super mare , 2021-07-31)

#508

I do not want the view blocked, it is lovely to sit in the gardens and look out to sea without having to see concrete tower blocks

Deborah Heal (Weston-S-Mare, 2021-08-01)

#510

It is an imposition to destroy the view presently enjoyed by everyone for a privileged few. This is unfair and must be stopped.

Eilis Moffatt (Weston-S-Mare, 2021-08-01)

#513

I'm signing because I love Weston-Super-Mare. We need to preserve the areas of beauty in our town. The company that is trying to build a tower block owns Bernbeck Pier which has been derelict since 1970's. This is where investment is needed, to save a grade 2 listed land mark. Not make the Weston land scape even less appealing for residence and visitors. After all we are supposed to be a seaside resort.

Rosemary Green (Weston-Super-Mare, 2021-08-02)

#514

The area is a place of peace and quiet.
Beauty area

Cheryl moulsdale (COVENTRY, 2021-08-02)

#519

I don’t want any more of Weston spoilt

Alison Oliver (Weston super mare, 2021-08-02)

#520

It's my brothers view that will be blocked

Adam Worgan-Barmaki (Weston-super-Mare , 2021-08-02)

#521

I disagree with the height of the proposed building

Susan Rose (Weston-super-mare, 2021-08-03)

#524

The views from Prince Concert Gardens would be diminished and parking in the area would cause havoc.

Michael O’Kane (Weston super Mare, 2021-08-04)

#532

I’m signing because I object to the tower block spoiling views from Prince consort gardens. I also object because the gentleman behind this planning owes the council in access of £250000 for clearance of the royal pier hotel and also is holding up the-sale of the birnbeckpier to the local lifeboat station

Michael Ingram (Weston super mare, 2021-08-05)

#537

The proposed development will ruin a beautiful part of the town . Tower blocks are an eyesore and people visiting Prince Consort gardens will see nothing beautiful

Paila Lassey (Weston super Mare , 2021-08-07)

#539

Private views aren't protected but this is a public view and must be.

David Robins (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-07)

#540

I’m signing because this is one of my favourite areas in Weston that would be ruined forever with this huge monstrosity. The building does not to be 8 storeys high.

Charlotte Chambers (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-08)

#542

This is the most shocking and appalling scheme that has come to Weston for a very long time, and treats with total contempt both the site and the community of Weston. It needs to be thrown out with scant ceremony.

Dr Nick Corcos (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-08)

#544

This area of Weston-super-Mare needs appropriate, elegant structures which enhance its coastal location not ugly concrete monstrosities.

Helen Shalders (Bristol l, 2021-08-08)

#546

As a regular user of Prince Consort Gardens and a resident of Weston Super Mare for 19 years, I can remember the view when the hotel was in place. Allowing any development that is larger than the previous building and not in keeping with the architecture of the area would negatively impact the views from the gardens and the consistency of the frontage to the promenade

Matthew Cottrell (Weston Super Mare , 2021-08-08)

#547

I love the view from Prince Consort Gardens!

Lee Pattison (WESTON-SUPER-MARE, 2021-08-08)

#549

The building will completely ruin the view from certain parts of the town and is against all of the recommendations that English Heritage/Historic England are trying to achieve with making Weston-super-Mare a Heritage Action Zone (https://historicengland.org.uk/whats-new/research/back-issues/weston-super-mare-a-victorian-seaside-town/)

Dr Stuart Prior (Kilve, 2021-08-08)

#550

It will totally block views from local buildings and Park that everyone enjoys & it's not even a 3 storey building in keeping with surrounding ones and will cause major problems with parking, it is a rediculous money grabbing concept.

Julie Taylor (Weston- super- mare, 2021-08-08)

#551

This is a hideous proposal, with complete disregard for everything that Weston stands for. It's an insult to the those who live there and proposed by those who don't give a damn. Money and greed driven.

Philippa Osborne (Wells, 2021-08-08)

#558

the Birnbeck area deserves to be developed in a style much more sympathetic to the whole surroundings
The Gardens and the views from them are a very special feature of the town which should not be sacrificed to corporate greed.

Margaret Hopes (Weeston-super-Mare, 2021-08-09)

#559

This is a conservation area and the 8 storey tower block will be a monstrosity compared to the former 3 storey hotel. It will block the view to the sea from both a popular park and the properties of many of those of us who live nearby. I live 100 yds from the site and can`t even get planning permission for one parking space so how can this be allowed?

Michael Charles (Somerset, 2021-08-09)

#561

ruin the area , and be an eyesore in the area,
over populate a small area of Weston sea front

Eileen Spragg (Weston Super Mare, 2021-08-09)

#562

I enjoy going to see the view from the road next to Prince Consort Gardens. I have limited mobility but can see the Channel from my car or from the Gardens in my wheelchair. It is very precious.

Philip Hopes (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-09)

#564

I object !

Charles Hart (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-09)

#566

We are signing this petition,as this block will take away the most beautiful view the public/ residents/ visitors have in Weston super mare.

Neil/Chery Robertson (Weston super mare, 2021-08-09)

#567

The views from Prince Consort Gardens bring joy and pleasure to many on a daily basis Any development should be restricted to the original 3 storey height of the original hotel and in keeping with the surroundings.

Rob Lewis (WESTON-SUPER-MARE, 2021-08-09)

#569

The developers have no interest in anything other than their profits.

Stephen Broadhead (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-09)

#570

The designs for CNM Estates' planned development of the site once occupied by the Royal Pier Hotel is NOT in keeping with the surrounding area and will destroy the view from the Prince Consort Gardens. CNM Estates have also had more than enough time to develop the site and have only put these plans forward recently as they were being forced to sell the land.

Jonathan Hopes (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-09)

#573

Retaing the Birmbeck Pier and Prince Consort Gardens is far more important than putting up another multi storey building on the sea front.

Michael Hanny (Weston super Mare, 2021-08-09)

#575

Don’t you DARE let it crumble. You should all look inside your dark hearts. You bastards. Care for our town. Not your damn wallets for once. Christ, you have enough money. Please.

Andy McCarthy (Weston super mate, 2021-08-09)

#576

View for the few cannot be justified by any reason.

Kinga Lichy (Weston super mare , 2021-08-09)

#578

This will be an eyesore. It is not interest of the residents of the town, it is profiteering pure and simple
.

Mike Lucas (Weston super Mare, 2021-08-09)

#579

I am signing because I love the area and can’t stand by and to see it destroyed in this way.

Amanda Berry (London, 2021-08-09)

#580

Not convinced that NSC have the legal clout to counter these plans. Also what is said in public often results in some sort of u turn or quietly agreed compromise. Leant my lesson with the Topicana petition that I was heavily involved with.

Robert Lovell (Town. Weston super Mare, 2021-08-09)

#583

A lot of people get considerable health benefits from the consort gardens. The view has helped many people with their mental health. A place of calm uninterrupted views together peaceful restoration

Lorna Dunseith (Weston super mare, 2021-08-09)

#584

I’m signing this because the view from the Prince Consort Gardens will be ruined for ever if this development goes ahead. It is clear to me, after attending the online meeting on this project, that CNM Estates is more interested in profit than how the building will fit in with the local environment.

David Clarke-Hall (Weston-super-Mare, 2021-08-09)

#587

I have lived in Weston for 60 plus years, this will ruin a lovely part of the town

Dave Radcliffe (Taunton, 2021-08-10)

#588

This is not a suitable building for the site. We need to protect what we have got here in Weston super Mare not destroy it with the type of development seen on the Riviera.

Susan Dewar (Weston super Mare , 2021-08-10)

#592

Will completely spoil the lovely view !

joy bentley (weston-super-mare, 2021-08-10)

#593

The tower block will ruin the view and bring W-S-M down in my opinion. There are plenty of other places to build such a monstrosity. Out of eye sight of everyone living and visiting Weston-Super-Mare. And not ruin the beautiful Gardens.

Helen Houghton (Weston-Super-Mare, 2021-08-10)

#594

I am completely against this development
as it completely does nothing for the area
Ann certainly does nothing for Weston super mare?

Raymond Turner (Weston super mare , 2021-08-10)
