Save our green spaces - land between Bassett Close and Lower Earley Way in Wokingham Borough, Berkshire

Comments

#1202

This is a loss of yet more green space for the provision of more buildings when there is already tremendous overdevelopment going on in and around the Reading area.

Philip Hooper (Reading, 2020-12-17)

#1206

We need to keep all our green spaces for important habitat & recreational purposes. I live in Reading & deplore destruction of any natural habitat in & around the Reading area!

Jonathan Barker (Reading , 2020-12-17)

#1207

I use this land regularly to walk withy two children - I do not want to see it built on.

Rebecca Kearsey (Reading , 2020-12-17)

#1208

we must protect the green spaces from rampant development which is unnecessary !

Biswashis Gantayet (Finchampstead, 2020-12-17)

#1209

This open green space has been in use for decades by local residents, and is an important amenity for those who live nearby. The trees were an important resource and should not have been cut down.

Ian Anderson (Reading, 2020-12-17)

#1215

Yet again, valuable green space, available to all, is being developed at the expense of our community and without warning. Where are the Tory councillors who are supposed to be protecting our local environment?

John Owen (READING, 2020-12-19)

#1216

Due to the vast housing development in Lower Earley we need open public places not more housing.

Michael Peters (Lower Earley, 2020-12-19)

#1217

I'msigning because we need to keep these areas for our health as well as the need for green spaces, animal habitat and the need for trees which assist greatly with pollution and climate control.
Devastation like this is not necessary and to do so without public awareness is cowardly.

Diana Symons (READING, 2020-12-19)

#1220

We have used this meadow on our walks for years, it will be a great shame if we loose more of our limited open spaces around this part of Lower Earley

Laurie Goddard (Lower Earley, 2020-12-20)

#1221

I am signing the petition because I am getting fed up of the increase of houses being built also the increase of traffic and road works that are proceeding as a result of houses being built.

Christopher Prior (Earley, Reading, 2020-12-21)

#1223

I'm signing because Lower Earley is already over developed and it is disgusting that Wokingham Council continue to destroy public open spaces and woodlands which are essential for our survival.

Richard Herrington (Reading, 2020-12-21)

#1226

I am concerned about the removal of vegetation and wildlife from a vital open space in this overpopulated area.

Richard Fitzjohn (Reading, 2020-12-22)

#1230

This is a valued strip of countryside in an enormous already overcrowded housing estate.

paul butler (lower earley, 2020-12-28)

#1231

This land should be protected and not built on.

Susan Reeves (Earley, 2020-12-28)

#1232

Important space to be left for wildlife

Michael Reeves (Earley, 2020-12-28)

#1234

I have jogged though this woodland for twenty five years and have seen much wildlife including deer / foxes. This should never have been allowed to happen to part of their natural habitat.

Andrew Collins (Reading , 2020-12-29)

#1237

I used to regularly run all the way from Danehill to Meldreth Way in beautiful woodland and in perfect safety from traffic. I can no longer do that because of the insatiable greed of property developers in this area.

Phil Parry (Earley, 2021-01-01)

#1238

I live locally and have seen open green spaces disappear over the last few years. Please do not take yet another green space away.

Lois Allison (Reading , 2021-01-03)

#1239

I live locally and walk my dog through this beautiful green space and feel strongly that it should be protected and retained to be enjoyed by all.

Terry Allison (Lower Earley, Reading, 2021-01-03)

#1240

I believe green spaces should be protected for both wildlife and residents living locally to enjoy. There is no need for more development in this area

Elizabeth Allison (Reading, 2021-01-03)

#1246

Green spaces are taken too often and too recklessly, our earth needs to be protected and preserved.

Louis Martin (Maldon, 2021-01-14)

#1247

We need to keep a green corridor beside lower Earley way

Scott Trathen (Reading, 2021-01-15)

#1250

There is too much development without corresponding traffic infrastructure and addition schooling

Mark Sheppard (Reading, 2021-01-15)

#1256

We don’t need any mall

Amrish Bhanot (Reading , 2021-01-15)

#1258

We wouldn't like to trade greener space for new houses in this part of the county. No thank you! Save the green spaces.

Anil Madineni (Earley, 2021-01-15)

#1260

We are concerned about the loss of vital green space in the neighbourhood. There is also potential for additional vehicular traffic in the area which is not conducive to the family walking paths around the area.

Shankar Sundaresh (Reading, 2021-01-15)

#1261

I live nearby in Kilnsea drive and want this green space to remain for the local community.

Raja Kunchala (Reading , 2021-01-15)

#1265

Lower Earley needs these green spaces to stop it from becoming a concrete jungle

Sam Sanders (Reading, 2021-01-16)

#1269

We have enough shops enough people and more than enough pollution. No to this eyesore.

Chris Stevenson (Lower Earley, 2021-01-17)

#1273

The bad impact a Lidl will have on the environment in this and surrounding areas. If this is allowed no other green space area in Earley/Lower Earley will be safe.

Roger Stevenson (Reading, 2021-01-17)

#1281

I want to protect green land and save wildlife

Bill Foster (Reading, 2021-01-20)

#1282

How can they come in and destroy trees and vegetation that are part of a community without any forewarning to local residents that have used the land for forty years . Shame on Reading University for selling to developers.

Audrey Leer (Earley reading, 2021-01-20)

#1283

I’m local

Helen Taylor (Reading, 2021-01-20)

#1286

I want the land returned to its natural state and the protected from development

Leslie Green (Reading, 2021-01-20)

#1288

I’m against the removal of green space and the damage to wildlife habitats.

Owen Hulme (Lower Earley, 2021-01-20)

#1290

I am disgusted that yet another piece of wild country is being gobbled up for money.
This is very near to where another development for Lidls and more housing is applied for.
What about pollution, noise and traffic increases all of which affect our health?

Ann Jennings (Lower Earley, Reading, 2021-01-20)

#1291

Unnecessary development where sufficient facilities already exist and the destruction of natural habitat.

Marcus Beattie (Reading, 2021-01-20)

#1292

I'm signing this because this proposed development is encroaching on what limited green spaces we have, rather than a brown field site. Covid-19 has taught us the importance of local green spaces for exercise.

Rob Hulme (Reading, 2021-01-20)

#1296

I am opposed to destroying green spaces in my local area.

Kaz Traverso (Reading, 2021-01-21)

#1297

We expect our children to inherit, appreciate and protect the natural environment yet we destroy the very places before their eyes.

Hans Dyer (Earley, 2021-01-21)

#1298

There is not enough space for wildlife to live. Thats why there are so many dead animals on the roads.

Sam Tranckle (Reading, 2021-01-21)

#1299

I believe this land should be preserved. The environment is so important and these animals do not deserve their homes to be destroyed for the greed of man.

Chloe Avis (Reading, 2021-01-21)

#1300

We neeed to preserve our wildlife and their habitates and green spaces for adults and children.

Francis Pontet (rg6 7hp, 2021-01-21)

#1303

1. it was an amenity area
2. The infrastructure round there is not good enough
3 The road lower Earley way gets blocked up in non covid times so it will be far worse
4 if it is popular then more than 120 cars will be there parking outside other people houses
5 Chatteris way exit is a blind corner onto Merridith road so there will be accidents
6 That roundabout is well known for accidents and more traffic will mean more accidents
7. I also object to the card sent by the developers which was extremely biased.

Mary Thompson (Reading, 2021-01-21)

#1304

There is no requirements for yet anotehr supermarket and Lidl already have one within 5 miles and with Asda less than 2 miles away as well as Sainsburys. This will lead to massive congestion and noise

Andrew Skitt (Lower Earley, 2021-01-21)

#1305

we should be protecting what little green spaces are left from developers and encouraging wildlife habitat not destroying it

paul janes (reading, 2021-01-21)

#1307

I am a local resident

Clare Bunting (Reading, 2021-01-21)

#1308

I protest against the piecemiel grabbing of remaining green space by housing developers. Lower Earley is already a very densely-populated area. The remaining green spaces need to be retained, for the local population as well as for wildlife. Development in the Loddon river valley would also lead to a further increase in flooding frequency and severity.

Stuart Neal (Reading, 2021-01-21)

#1313

This is a shocking destruction of green space and wildlife habitat for unnecessary and unwanted commercial use.

Paul Buckley (Reading, 2021-01-21)

#1317

I fundamentally disagree with giving over some of the last bits of greenfield site in our area, so that developers can again make a fortune. Once built on, the open space that we have rights to walk over, will be gone for good

Michael Schult (READING, 2021-01-21)

#1318

It is an unwelcome and unwanted development which will lead to overcrowding, environmental destruction and flooding and far too many cars. Another supermarket is not needed.

Jenny Knight (Reading, 2021-01-21)

#1319

We are losing too much greenspace & fauna habitat to housing

Anton Allan (Reading, 2021-01-21)

#1320

The green spaces between Lower Earley and the M4 protect against traffic noise and pollution. They are a valuable resource which must be protected.
This particular location is highly unsuitable for development. It will result in dangerous traffic conditions wherever the developer chooses to put the entrance.
There are sufficient supermarkets in this area. No need for another.

Robert Thompson (Reading, 2021-01-21)

#1321

I'm signing as I feel that we do not need any more housing and a Lidl shop on what was a fantastic green space for wildlife and the enjoyment of the public since the 1980's when the Lower Earley estate started

Claire Giles (Lower Earley, 2021-01-21)

#1324

I totally disagree with this proposal.

Audrey Wagstaff (Reading, 2021-01-21)

#1333

I’m signing because Lower Earley is already overdeveloped
Also the area contains footpaths used by local residents for more than 40 years

John Harrison (Reading, 2021-01-21)

#1338

I'm signing for a number of reasons:
1) we need to preserve all green spaces for the health of the planet and of local people
2) this land is low-lying and gets very wet and is not suitabkle for building
3) the planned 40 houses on this site will house approximately 60 children - the local schools are all full and in my capacity on the Educational Appeals Panel I see too many children already having to go to schools outside Earley, with littleor no publlic transport to get to them
4) we do not need a Lidl store, there are plenty of other stores in the area

Ann Munday (Earley, 2021-01-22)

#1342

Green spaces are a very valuable asset, and the green space under consideration here should remain available for local people to enjoy.

Brian Wiggett (Wokingham, 2021-01-22)

#1343

Unnecessary development destroying wild habitat/green space

Keith Miller (Lower Earley, 2021-01-22)

#1346

I believe it should be left as open green space. We do not need another supermarket.

Janice Frances (Lower Earley, 2021-01-22)

#1348

I want this area kept as open space as it has been used for decades. Our green space is important for everyone and everything that used it. We need to protect natural habitats to stop the decline in wildlife. There are more than enough houses around here already. If we force wildlife out then we will all regret it.

Claire Way (Reading, 2021-01-22)

#1354

The developers are no morals

Rachel Newland (Reading, 2021-01-23)

#1355

I am a local resident who would like the little green space we have left for animals protected

Katrina McDonnell (Reading , 2021-01-23)

#1359

There has been far too much development in this area. We have more than enough supermarkets locally and do not need another. However, we do need open undeveloped spaces for our physical and mental well-being. It is more than time that councillors realised this because there is very little space like this left now. Stop before it is too late!!

Clive Arnold (Reading, 2021-01-23)

#1360

We need to protect the remaining green spaces in Lower Earley and not increase the amount of traffic.

Gareth Rutherford (Reading, 2021-01-23)

#1361

I'm so angry that our lovely green space which is enjoyed by so many local residents could be a tacky unwanted Lidl supermarket bringing thousands of cars and congestion

Carl Greenwood (Lower Earley, 2021-01-23)

#1362

There is already an unprecedented amount of house building in this area with no thought or plans as to infrastructure to support it, no extra doctors surgeries, school places, or extra roads to support the amount of people moving to the area, the roads are extremely busy and we are in lockdown and rumours of a Lidl supermarket being pu on this site too would only increase the amount of traffic

James Mcdowall (Lower Earley, 2021-01-23)

#1365

Area is overdeveloped already!

Geoffrey Jalland (Reading, 2021-01-23)

#1366

Too much over development and traffic congestion.

Alan Glenister (Reading, 2021-01-24)

#1367

As a resident of Lower Earley I feel that we already have enough houses and shopping. The destruction of the natural habitat of many different species is both unnecessary and unwanted by local residents.

Neil Warwick (Reading, 2021-01-24)

#1368

I want this area to remain the home to the many wild animals that inhabit this land,. The local people need more.not less, green spaces and areas where trees and nature take precedent. We also don't need or want any more supermarkets or any developments that destroy the environment.

Alistair Campbell (Reading, 2021-01-24)

#1369

I'm signing because I believe the nature of the land should be preserved for the animals that used too live there. Aside from being more aesthetically pleasing, we need more nature around us as the issue of global warming is continuously on the rise and this is one way to mitigate that. The animals and nature should come first in this case. I am appalled by the site of the land that has been laid to waste and all the destruction of the natural land. I strongly urge the council to instead re plant the trees and plant life that has been destroyed and allow nature to reclaim this plot of land.

Andrzej Peplinski (Lower Earley, Earley, Reading, 2021-01-24)

#1370

I'm signing this because we don't need more house and a supermarket on this green space

Ray Coates (Reading, 2021-01-24)

#1371

Lower Earley has given enough to local housing and development and the people of area need to retain green spaces for their health and wellbeing.

Neil Thompson (Lower Earley, 2021-01-25)

#1372

There simply cannot be any further destruction of the woodland areas around Lower Earley. There are becoming too few area for wildlife to survive natural vegetation to grow and we need this to be preserved. There is already too many areas of development around Lower Earley!

Richard Kendall (Reading, 2021-01-25)

#1373

Having lived in Lower Earley for over 35 years I have seen the continuous reduction in open green space. This is another major section of the designated green space being built on.

Joanne Booth (Reading, 2021-01-25)

#1374

Overuse of area for building, loss of environmentally friendly and useful area for wildlife impacting on local biodiversity. Also, angry at the aggressive and irresponsible policy of land owners in devastating green space with no good reason, other than a probable intent to gain building permission since no trees and vegetation now exist!

D Harries (Reading, 2021-01-25)

#1375

I am signing because this area was part of the Lower Earley Wood which stretches for 3 miles along the border of Lower Earley Way.
It is a very important and well used area for the community.

Jane Sellwood (Reading, 2021-01-25)

#1376

In this overdeveloped part of Berkshire it is essential to preserve all remaining wildlife corridors and to protect open spaces where local residents can enjoy exercise and fresh air. The pandemic has shown us just how important this is as far more people are now walking locally and discovering places they hadn't known about previously.

Lilian Waites (Reading, 2021-01-25)

#1380

I do not want a supermarket on the greenbelt which had been used by wildlife and walkers the 15 years I have lived here.

Christine Castle (Lower Earley, 2021-01-26)

#1381

I'm signing because I want to keep the remaining green spaces in Lower Earley. Stop the building on our green spaces.

Ray Gibbin (Reading, 2021-01-26)

#1382

I am signing this to stop further building on the green spaces still left in Lower Earley. Enough is enough.

Gillian Gibbin (Reading, 2021-01-26)

#1383

I’m signing because there is no need for another supermarket on green space! There is plenty of brown field nearby which should be considered a more likely option 1st before green space is built on! The AutoTrader site is much closer to M4 junction and is free to be built on! The Lidi can be relocated just down the road! This site disrupts the green space along the Lower Earley way! This has been helpful for mental health and fitness of local residents during the pandemic.

Tina Shepherd (Reading, 2021-01-26)

#1389

I disagree with the removal of the few green spaces and wildlife habitats we have left in Lower Earley. We do not need another shop nor the extra traffic, and the increased housing with no school spaces is also ill thought through!

Liz Gorringe (Lower Earley, 2021-01-26)

#1391

I am signing this partition for a number of reasons. The local infrastructure does not adiquately support current "normal - non covid lockdown), road useage, and with a number of recent newbuilds established with little to no support to local infrastructure, further new builds and retail outlets are unwise. Additionally, this land has been sold and works carried out under the advise it was necessary grounds upkeep, but as yet no planning has been granted and no official proposals have been seen by any councilors or residents to review and make an informed decision on. This has stripped the protective barrier for the houses that back onto this land and the noise levels have likely increased for them. This is just poor decision making on behalf of the developers.

Finally, there are far better sites that already have buildings that are derelict at the other end of this road, Dane Hill, that would be a much better use of the land, without destroying what little green space is left in the local area. This would also go towards protecting residents from the anual turn over of unwelcome traveller vists as this would be one less site for them to park up on.

Please stop destroying our planet. Reuse what is already destroyed.

Mike Sneddon (Lower Earley, Reading, 2021-01-26)

#1392

I love wildlife

Sachin Dougall (Reading, Berkshire, 2021-01-26)

#1393

I think that the proposal is ridiculous given Lidl's declared interest a site at Shinfiel

Oliver McGuiness (London, 2021-01-26)

#1394

I am signing this petition as this is an unnecessary development that does it support the community and is ruining our wildlife pastures. Footpaths have been blocked off and many have been used for 40 years or more. The building of a Lidl will not provide 100s of jobs as per the biased poll document recently sent out. I cannot support this development.

Beverley Wise (Lower Earlet, 2021-01-26)

#1396

We are losing too many green spaces for housing. The infrastructure cannot take it. Places to walk and enjoy nature have NEVER been more important than now!

Ann Samways (Reading, 2021-01-27)
