Cleeve Hill Golf Course, is one of the best natural golf courses in the South of England and a jewel in the crown for the golfing participants past and hopefully in the future. This golf course MUST be saved.

Brian Harrod (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

This is part of history .... cheltenham/Tewkesbury... Gloucestershire .. one of the biggest sports and growing with kids/juniors in the world .... needs to stay and invest ..and also one of the oldest golf clubs in England /uk ..

Steve Pickering (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

It is a unique course in this area, being links style away from the sea. It is also valuable in being open to the general public which is particularly important at this time when social interactions and leisure opportunities are limited; golf at Cleeve Hill provides a form of healthy activity for people of all ages and abilities. To throw away 125 years of history would be very disappointing.

John Pritchard (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

So its yes to building tens of thousands of houses in nearby Bishops Cleeve and surrounding areas, but no to preserving this wonderful iconic course and its mass of wide open spaces? Shameful decision!

Jeff Cornwell (Southam, 2020-09-09)

#815

I believe this golf course should not be closed.

Cleeve Hill Golf Club is an iconic part of the Cheltenham sporting community, landscape and also attracts visitors to the area

David Fozzard (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

Cleeve Hill is an important golfing venue as it offers an opportunity for improving golfers to play a proper course. It has wide and forgiving fairways ideal for high handicappers, a good variety of holes and generally excellent greens - all at a reasonable price per round.

Mike Smith (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

I'm signing because I have played the course a number of times and as a casual golfer it is accessible. It is a community asset and does no harm to anyone. Why close it?

Mark Bond (Coventry, 2020-09-09)

#820

I was a member there got many years in the past and it’s a scandalous decision that this facility should be lost.

Ciaran Berry (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#823

Its part of the community and serves all who want to play golf.

Kenneth Evans (CHELTENHAM, 2020-09-09)

I was a member there in the 90s and have lots of fond memories.

I am signing this petition because I have played here many times over the last fifteen years though not a member of the club. I don't think courses like this one is getting enough support but would not like to see it close, presumably because the local council sees it as a way to save money.

Stephen Cambridge (Gloucester , 2020-09-09)

Cleeve Hill means a lot to me and my family. My dad got 2 holes in one and Cleeve and his ashes are sprinkled on the hill.

I have played this golf course, both as a member and a casual player, since I moved down into this area 35 years ago. It would be such a shame to see it close

Malcolm Nicklin (Tewkesbury , 2020-09-09)

I’m fed up of our “brown field” land being bought up & built on. The roads on the hill are busy enough now without new houses being built etc

Gillian Higgins (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

There is a long history behind Cleeve Golf Club. It’s a great place to play golf and a wonderful facility for the local community

Keith Filbey (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

It's an established golf club and a facility used by numerous members of public not affiliated to a golf club

I have often played on Cleeve Hill Golf Course and think it's a wonderful facility

David Manook (CHELTENHAM, 2020-09-09)

I have been playing golf on Cleeve Hill for 11 years. It is a unique course & a truly wonderful place to play. It is also an affordable course which stops golf being exclusive to the well off.

Rita New (Winchcombe, 2020-09-09)

#862

This is part of our history of cleeve hill and is still very well used!!

Sarah Taylor (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#867

It’s outrageous that everything becomes about money ! This golf club is part of the area , it serves not just golfers but the wider community at large. Municipal courses and club houses should be part of the community full stop and not for sale to the highest bidder. Where did it all go so wrong 🤷‍♂️🤔

Robert A Yates (Cirencester , 2020-09-09)

I believe Cleeve Cloud golf course is unique and should be retained to provide the wonderful experience for generations to come.

Brian Smith Smith (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

Cleeve is a unique golf course occupying a hilltop location but with a Links feel and a great local history.

Keith Piggott (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

Cleeve Hill golf links is a remarkable golf setting. It is a unique amenity which should be preserved for future generations. I was lucky enough to learn to play golf there over 30 years ago and I wish future generations to have the same opportunity.

Martin Donohue (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

Closing this club, which gives pleasure and health benefits to many is unjust and unwarranted.

Verity Daughtrey (Hereford, 2020-09-09)

#883

Losing Cleeve or any golf course is a retrograde step at any time but since the pandemic golf has proved to be important for physical and social wellbeing for all age groups especially the elderly and vulnerable of our society.

Debbie Griffiths (Drybrook, 2020-09-09)

#884

I want Cleeve Hill Golf Club to remain open as it’s stunning and a real community asset for Cheltenham & the surrounding area. In fact it needs investment and to become an even better course to match it’s incredible location & typography

Rob Powell (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

Robert Wallace (Cinderford, 2020-09-09)

Cleeve Hill provides on of the finest places to play golf and exercise in the county and is open to the general public. What a mean minded action this is at the present time when we all need the solace of nature.

James Irving (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#904

Cleeve Hill Golf course is historically significant, much used and very valuable community asset.

Andrew Oliver (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#905

Cleeve Cloud golf course is a wondrous course, with much history including the longest 1st hole of its day. The decision to close it is most upsetting, indeed disgraceful.

Robin Brown (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#906

A unique Golf Course and Club much enjoyed by so many for so long, it is far to valuable to be allowed to close.

Joanna Stokes (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#908

It’s where I first learnt to play golf. Love playing the course and for me always felt like a real golf course should do. Do the right thing here TBC keep the course alive and well as CHGC.

Gareth Owen (Lincoln Park, 2020-09-09)

#911

As a local of 60 years who was born in Cleeve I feel really strongly about this. TBC are a disgrace who do not listen to local views and ride ruff shot over all resistance objections.

Andrew Marriott (Bishop’s Cleeve , 2020-09-09)

#913

Cleeve Hill Golf Club is part of our local heritage and encourages people of all ages to take up golf which helps contribute to good health and well being. This is particularly important in the current circumstances.

Nick Bates (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#916

Cleeve is a hidden gem. It would be a travesty for this course to go.

Grantley White (Bristol, 2020-09-09)

#917

I have played on your course over a dozen times. As a member at Tewks Park we have had competitions there & have enjoyed the amazing views.

I have had Sunday lunches in your clubhouse with family & friends & have hired your skittle alley to run a social evening for Pittville Court flats where I live.

It would be very sad to see this lovely course closed & I urge Cheltenham to change to change their attitude towards closing this course.

#921

I am a member at Cleeve

David Berry (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#922

I'm signing because I just played the course today, as I normally do a few times a year despite being a member of Lilley Brook. Cleeve is the "mother" course of golf in Cheltenham and is where the precursors of today's Lilley Brook and Cotswold Hills Golf Clubs got their start. It's an excellent example of an "inland links" golf course and is rated very highly by golfers across the country. To lose this course is a terrible blow to the town and the county, at a time when safe, outdoors activities are hard to come by. A small bit of investment would pay huge dividends with a bit of imagination and care. Please save golf on Cleeve Hill!

Taras Ciuriak (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

It is vital to protect such leisure facilities. Golf should be available to all

Dan Fraine (CHELTENHAM, 2020-09-09)

Cleeve Cloud is a beautiful and unique golf course which has been part of the Gloucestershire golfing landscape for over 100 years. We must not allow such an iconic part of our golfing heritage to disappear.

Cleeve Cloud GC is a brilliant course on natural layout. Arguably the best course around - I’ve been playing it for years and would be very sad if it goes. Save this fantastic asset to the area!

I love Cleve Cloud . A real test of golf

jane barrett (Thornbury , 2020-09-09)

Outstanding publically accessible course which should be preserved as a useable social space - one of the most hospitable golf clubs in the UK.

Would be very disappointed to see it close.

Mark Jones (Kenilworth, 2020-09-09)

#967

I learned to play up at Cleeve Hill with a little help from Dave Finch. It was a challenging course at a reasonable price , when many other courses were too expensive or exclusive. It always has been a course where the ordinary working man can enjoy the game and get the best view in Gloucestershire.

Peter Emery (Kelowna, 2020-09-09)

#973

The most fabulous golf course. A great asset to the area. Almost every local golfer started there & the hospitality/refreshments offered golfers & the public walking on the hill has been a credit to Gloucestershire.

I learnt to play golf at Cleeve Hill as a 14 year old. - to deprive future generations the same opportunities is criminal. Cleeve Hill has always been a club for all golfers, not just the elite

I was member there for many years and cannot believe they are thinking of destroying such a historic club
