This club is a community. It is unique not just due to his location but also to the people, golfers and their families who belong to it and support all the events it puts on. Children are included too for instance at Christmas. It has been part of the culture and tradition of Cleeve Hill for many years. Tewkesbury council should be proud of supporting such a unique club and work harder at finding a solution rather than choose the easy option to eradicate the place. For the good of the people.

Michèle Brook (Cheltenham, 2020-09-08)

This is part of my growing up and the heritage of Cheltenham, what good is it going to be to close this absolute wonderful place. It should be a stepping stone for generations to come.

K Daniels (Gosport , 2020-09-08)

My father is a member and loves the course; he is also able to bring his dog which is a huge benefit.

Chloe Long (Worcestershire, 2020-09-08)

#417

The club has been used by so many over the years. The clubhouse offering a welcome stop to both golfers and walkers alike. The course itself offers fantastic views over Cleeve Cloud, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and the Welsh Mountains. The ground staff do a fantastic job of keeping greens, surrounding scrub and footpaths in great condition for use by golfers, families and the general public to enjoy.

Adrian Cummings-Major (Wokingham, 2020-09-08)

#419

This is one of the most special golf courses in Gloucestershire, and the South West. There’s not great moment that heading out over the back nine with the incredible views over the bordering counties! To see it left to return to arable land would be an absolute travesty

James Smurthwaite (Cheltenham, 2020-09-08)

#422

Cleeve Hill golf course is the only public golf course in the area providing access to a sport that often excludes the less well off.

Clive Rose (Cheltenham, 2020-09-08)

Cleve hill is a beautiful feature of our wonderfull county and as such should have landmarks upon it protected
Its bad enough seeing the council's selling up any green space it can for house developments that arnt needed leave our hill alone

As Lady Captain of Gloucestershire Past Ladies Captains I was horrified to hear about this. The ladies at Cleeve Hill Golf Club thoroughly enjoy their Club and playing the course. It will be a sad loss to golf inGloucestershire

Councils should be supporting recreational sport, especially encouraging access to recreational sport, including golf. For many, Cleeve is a welcoming course to those picking up the game and develop their talents.

Kieran Tompkins (Cheltenham, 2020-09-08)

#456

I have family who use this golf club on a regular basis as well as walking the dogs in this area too.

Play golf at that course/club. Many happy memories of playing and socialising there. Surely there’s a better way

Vicky Darwin (Sale, 2020-09-08)

#463

I have played there. I found it to be one of the most beautiful, interesting and challenging courses I have played.

Tom McCann (Taipa, 2020-09-08)

#464

I think this is preposterous that this facility is being closed. This is used by young and old. There is no need to turn this back into land for walking etc etc, there is 1000 acres of land at Cleeve Hill for everyone to enjoy. This is a very bad decision

Andy Morris (Cheltenham, 2020-09-08)

#467

The golf course is one of the best I've ever played. Its affordable and an amazing part of the community.

This is one of the best and most picturesque courses in the West Midlands

Dave Harris (Cheltenham , 2020-09-08)

#475

The area covered by Tewkesbury Borough Council is suffering from a total lack of care for Green Belt areas. Profligate building is being permitted on greenfield sites without due consideration of the environmental effects.

Patricia Whitfield (Gloucester, 2020-09-08)

#477

The golf course should be saved for all to enjoy as they have done for years!!

Anna Newman (Cheltenham , 2020-09-08)

#486

I’ve played there many times and would be such a shame to lose it

Craig Bone (Pershore , 2020-09-08)

#489

I’m signing because Cleeve Hill is a unique and historic golf course. Having existed over 100 years, it truly is the home of Cheltenham golf, with both Cotswold Hills and Lilly Brook owing their existence from Cleeve Hill. Whilst it is rough around the edges, lacking in investment as a municipal course, it is a challenging and enjoyable course which benefits from great drainage and difficult winds. So many players first experience is here, and as it is not privately owned, should be preserved for the many players who love it so much.

Simon Smith (Cheltenham , 2020-09-08)

#490

Somethings are too precious to be allowed to fade away. Golf at the Wonderful Cleeve Hill is one of them.

I have lived on Cleeve Hill for over 30 years and use the hill and club house frequently. This is a vital community asset and should be protected.

Suzanne Deackes (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#499

I have played a number of times on this beautiful course. It has a great history and should be kept open for golfing opportunities in the Cotswolds.

Mike F Jones (Winchcombe, 2020-09-09)

#502

I’ve always lived in Bishops Cleeve and as a child would go up to the golf course with my Dad on Sunday’s and walk round while he played golf with his friends. It is a wonderful place and will be a huge loss if other generations can’t experience what I did.

Angela Maguire (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#504

This is a really bad idea. Golf on Cleeve Hill has been part of the area for yonks.
Beautiful scenery and a real draw card.
A boost and attraction for Tourism. Must be promoted and made viable.
Do not give up on this.

Rosamond Mohacsi (Bowral, 2020-09-09)

#525

It’s a massive part of our community and greedy council are as per usual are ripping the heart out of the community for money once again and they need to be stopped

Marie Jackson (Winchcombe , 2020-09-09)

#533

This is a local treasure that should be for the people, who cannot aford the big club membership. It has history and needs new people to bring in new ideas.

John Hunt (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#534

The golf course That is well used should not not be closed just because of the greed of tbc and developers . There is a need for this course and the management of the Common benefits from its existence.

Caroline Lindsell (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#539

It keeps people fit! It’s got a long heritage!

John Pickup (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#540

I have grown up around golf my whole life. This golf course I have played on my time before. Really don’t think it should go!

Ashleigh Jackson (Gloucestershire, 2020-09-09)

#545

I feel that it makes golf affordable to a great proportion of the public and we should be encouraged more people to get out, exercise and play sport on a regular basis.

Neil Piercy (Wormington, Nr Broadway , 2020-09-09)

#546

With its history and setting, there is no legitimate reason for closing this course at all......

Simon Thornley (Wem, 2020-09-09)

#547

I believe CLEEVE hill municipal golf course should survive it’s not just about golf it is also a social outlet for all ages to meet on a regular basis

Ian Henderson (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#548

I have been walking across Cleeve hill and common for over 20 years in all weathers and have happy memories of popping into the golf house for a quick coffee. I’d be devastated if the closure of the golf club and proposed development restricted walkers from that side of the fill

Steph Lane (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#552

This is an iconic GloucesterShire gold club and should be saved !!!

Chris Ellis (Gloucester, 2020-09-09)

#554

I'm signing as a lifelong Cleeve golfer who also loves the other available activities at Cleeve. I can see all suffering but the golf especially. The loss would deprive the area of a vital recreational amenity and should be developed for the future for all users not just idly thrown away.

Jonathan Mercer (Bredon, 2020-09-09)

#558

This is my local course

John Lewis (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#562

This is an important issue and saving the Club benefits more than just its members.

Simon Riordan (Gloucester , 2020-09-09)

#564

This is an invaluable facility for local people, as well as an attraction to golfers and walkers from all round the country. It is the only municipal and affordable golf course in the area. Why is TBC being allowed to close down such an obvious asset to health and welfare, ignoring long term benefits for a short term financial gain!

Susan Malt (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#565

This facility is important to the local people who enjoy a game of golf and and for social interaction

Douglas Allen (Tewkesbury , 2020-09-09)

#566

I'm signing this petition to ensure the future of the golf course. It is an outrage to stop providing sporting facilities.

Colin Gabb (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#568

It’s a hill, it shouldn’t be developed on and I love a round of golf up there after work.

Daniel Willis (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#570

I'm horrified that such a well established course, and piece of Gloucestershire history, would disappear forever. I walked this course as a youth, and my brother played there seriously as a youngster. Good luck in your crusade!

Davе Mitchell (BURGAS, 2020-09-09)

#571

The golf club has huge sentimental value to myself and family, we spent many afternoons here with my grandfather Maurice Widdows and my father Neil widdows. It holds great community spirit and is a place that many residents use as their social dwelling.

Naomi Widdows (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#572

Cleeve offers both an accessibility to Golf and a challenging match for the more experienced golfer that you won’t find in many towns.

Nick Harwood (Bredon, 2020-09-09)

#573

Don’t want to see the course closed as I love playing there and my family loves it up there. Also feel the council as others agendas the way this has been handled.

Craig Collins (Bishops Cleeve, 2020-09-09)

#574

It is such a pity to see a great facility lost to the community, Cleeve Hill golf club has been host to so many people over the years it is unique and can be a joy to play, it is possible to see all seasons in one round, the views are incredible, one does require lots of patience or an ability to play straight and keep on the fairway!!!! Once closed this would be lost forever, definitely worth saving this wonderful facility for future generations to enjoy 👍👏👏👏

Liz Finch (Gloucester , 2020-09-09)

#575

It's a fantastic golf course and a brilliant facility. There's no way that this should be closing. It's just wrong. Some of the money coming in from the thousands of houses built around Bishop's Cleeve must be diverted to maintaining this amenity, it's part of the reason people want to come and live here!

Frank Rimmer (Bishop's Cleeve, 2020-09-09)

#576

The Golf club provides enjoyment to many people. It's one of the only pay and play courses in Gloucestershire. Plus the only catering and toilet facilities for everyone who walks, runs and rides on the hill.

Anthony Gill (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#577

I would like golf to continue on Cleeve Hill

Steve Crisp (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#579

This golf course and clubhouse holds special memories for our family alongside thousands of local people. TBC should be investing in it not selling off to developers with the risk that it becomes a hotel/private venue and limits the ability of people from all walks of life to visit and enjoy the facilities and natural beauty the surroundings offer.

Carla Stanton (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#581

The golf course is an asset for the community we are all encouraged to keep fit and golf is an excellent way to keep fit especially as it’s a municipal golf course

Jeff Grinnell (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#583

Loved playing the course even though the walkers were ignorant and angry

Andrew Pepperell (Gloucezter, 2020-09-09)

#585

this is a rare facility and if closed will have a negative impact on everyone in the area not just the golfers.

Caroline Kean (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#590

It’s an historic golf course and no matter what your ability it’s a very unique landscape.

Michael Jackson (Cheltenham , 2020-09-09)

#593

My father and mother were steward and stewardess in the late 1950's when it was Cotswold Hills Golf Club. The clubhouse was our family home for 3-4 years. It has been open to the public for a number of years and is a great place to meet for a coffee or a bite to eat after a walk or a game of golf. It is dog-friendly and everyone can meet someone they know there. It will be a sad day indeed if this proposed redevelopment goes ahead

Marilyn Hay (Swindon Village, Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#595

This course shouldn’t not be closed

Brad Marks (Cheltenham, 2020-09-09)

#598

I was a member for years
