I object against aldi being built on an housing estate when there are three supermarkets within a mile .. walking distance of the estate

Aldi is just trying to profiteer but it wont be a success since we already have decent shops nearby. We don't want any extra ruckus or traffic here anymore - already busy and dangerous with idiot drivers as it is!

I dont want tge 3xtra traffic passing my home.

This supermarket is not needed and is way to close to private houses. There are numerous empty commercial units available in the close vicinity that would be far more appropriate.

The junction where the store is being proposed to be built will add more traffic to a very busy junction.
And the noise from HGVs delivering in the night using fridge trailers will be very noisy.

I dont think we need yet ANOTHER food store within so close proximity of all the others already around us at present and certainly not at the site where they want to build this one so close to houses . If there really must be something built there make it more houses ,as its not as if the area dont need more houses .

We already have 2x Aldi's 2x Asda 2x Tesco 2x Lidl (soon to be 3) a Sainsb... You get the point.
Why would we need another supermarket?

The road going through Mon bank is already bad enough with traffic.

Laura Herbert (Newport, 2020-08-16)

I do not feel we need yet another supermarket or grocery shop in the area as the area is saturated by food shops already. I have major concerns for the traffic this will attract to Mon Bank area

The roundabout by the planned development nearly has accidents on a daily basis. The added traffic from that direction will definitely lead to accidents occurring on a regular basis.

Shaun Biggs (Newport, 2020-08-17)

I agree with all the points highlighted in the petition. The roundabout near the proposed site already has near accidents on a daily basis, an increase in traffic will only exacerbate this.

Sarah Fletcher (Newport, 2020-08-17)

There is numerous options already in the area.

I agree with all the comment's put forward already. I have relatives living there. Mon Bank it is a lovely estate. All the residents wish to keep it that way and safe for their family.

The is no need for another new, purpose-built supermarket in this area, given the quantity of supermarkets within a 1 mile radius. Traffic on the estate of Mon Bank is already an issue, especially around holiday periods, and would only be worsened if this store were to be built. If Aldi wish to have a presence then they ought to occupy one of the many vacant stores/lots around 28 east retail park.

I feel that this is an unnecessary and unwanted super market that will destroy one of the few green spaces in the area.

Thomas Tyrell (Newport, 2020-08-18)

The increase of traffic through an already to busy road through the estate!
The planning usually refuse a lot of plans, saying it is not in keeping with the surrounding area!
This is definitely the case, in will stick out like a sore thumb!
No No NO!

No more supermarkets no more traffic congestion no to aldi

Tracey Sutton (Newport , 2020-09-06)

I live close to the proposed store and am very worried about the level of traffic

James Marsh (Newport, 2020-09-06)

The traffic along the road there is so busy with the hospital being so close. Several supermarkets already here within a mile seems pointless

Nicola Evans (Newport , 2020-09-07)

I live in maesglas and I have seen the disruption building work us causing. Also as stated use one of the many empty units available.

It’s a shambles of a decision, complete disregard for the residents. Aldi trying to move into a place with maximum competition nearby, and in an area where there will be continual opposition. Claiming new jobs will be a benefit, yet ignoring the knock on effect of other local competition. Traffic and congestion, as well as the development process will cause nothing but chaos around the area, especially once things calm down from the Coronavirus. It is a route which is usually busy around post work hours and with a supermarket nearby, this will only escalate. I’m sure there are other areas that they can potentially look at.

Taylor Norton (Newport , 2020-09-09)

There is no need for an aldi on the site.
There are too many stores locally.
Increased traffic.
Safety of children on the site.
Noise pollution

There’s to many empty units use them please

Ariane Powell (Newport, 2020-09-10)

I don’t want Aldi’s by my house it will be to
Much traffic and already it is a busy road for a new estate

Kirsty Phillips (Np202qs , 2020-09-10)

We DONT Need another Aldi

Lisa Jones (Newport, 2020-09-10)

#274

Because tlof the disturbance that s will cause to local residents, and we don't need another supermarket close by there are already far more than is absolutely necessary.

I really don't believe an Aldi on Mon bank estate should be given the go ahead it will bring noise and traffic pollution.. I think there are plenty of other spaces locally which would be perfect but right on the front of a new housing estate is not the place.
