I am a local resident greatly affected by this issue and fear for the safety of my children and other pedestrians

Lucy Parsons (Walsall, 2020-02-24)

I live on the road and I have two young children, I cannot, safely, take both of my children on the pavement without one of them being dangerously close to the road

Lorraine Rose (Aldridge , 2020-02-24)

My 2 daughter's both have houses on this road.

David Bytheway (Walsall, 2020-02-24)

I’ve lived on this road for 34 years and now I have 2 small children of my own. It’s not safe for them to walk down the footpath never mind ride a bike or a scooter as the big lorries are to wide for the road and the footpath is very narrow. It’s very dangerous for pedestrians.

Samantha Gee (Birmingham , 2020-02-24)

#7

Size and speed and emissions of the trucks and lorrys coming down leighswood

Kirstie Pearl (Ws98by , 2020-02-24)

#11

I also love in this area and have seen how dangerous it is for pedestrians

Kelly Tye (Walsall, 2020-02-24)

#15

A lot of elderly people use this road who live in the many retirement apartments recently built on Leighswood road and surrounding areas.

Martin Goodwin (Walsall , 2020-02-24)

#16

Leaving in a road off the leighswood road I am scared to walk both my children and dog on leighswood road due to the careless driving by hgv and other traffic along this road. It is a serious accident waiting to happen and ive seen lorries not stop at the pedestrian crossing and near miss children crossing here.

Nicola Small (Birmingham , 2020-02-24)

#18

I live on Leighswood Road and this is a real issue. I'm aware we live near industrial estates but surely safety should be paramount.

Victoria Nunn (Aldridge , 2020-02-24)

#20

I live just off this road and it is extremely dangerous to walk along.

Louise Williams (Walsall, 2020-02-24)

#29

It's too dangerous not to

Vicky Goodwin (Walsall, 2020-02-24)

#30

The Rd is narrow with already heavy traffic including HGV’s this needs to stop before it becomes more dangerous

Diana Coonagh (Aldridge, 2020-02-24)

#31

Children are not safe

Sarah Cale (Walsall, 2020-02-24)

#32

It is a residential road, I have friends with children on this road too! Far too narrow & close to houses for Heavy goods vehicles!

Dave Page (Aldridge, 2020-02-24)

#33

I live on Leighswood Road and the size of the lorries that go up and down at all times of the day and night are huge, very frightening for all ages walking to school, shops or going to work!

Mary clare Perry (Walsall , 2020-02-24)

#34

There are too many vehicles and HGV in particular travelling through Aldridge, damaging footpaths and causing pollution.

Gill Sutton (Aldridge, 2020-02-24)

#36

Do we need to wait for a fatal accident to happen, before this is addressed?

When pushing a child in a pram, going towards the shops, I often see the fear in the faces of the oncoming drivers at how close they are forced to be.
Once on the road, they have no option.

I've seen HGV drivers clip wing mirrors, mount kerbs and have various near misses.

Walsall Council have clearly identified it's not a suitable road for double-decker buses; it's absolutely time to review the use of HGVs.

A council official spending 5 minutes on the road, at any time of day, will clearly see the issue. The question for them would be. "Would I want to walk down this road with my child?"

Avoiding Leighswood road entirely would add about 2 minutes to a journey and make it much safer for both drivers and pedestrians.

Matt Rose (Aldridge, 2020-02-24)

#37

Pedestrians whether they be able bodied or not should be able to go anywhere safely and without fear of accidents occurring. I also walk along this way way with my dog and always put her on the inside leaving me more vulnerable to passing traffic.

June Pegler (Walsall, 2020-02-24)

My children attend the school and it is so very dangerous to walk and drive on the road

Kirsty Hughes (Aldridge , 2020-02-25)

#42

I live on Lingmoor grove ,an estate just off Leighswood road. My children walk to Aldridge secondary school on their own on Leighswood road and I am concerned about their safely .

Emma Powls (Aldridge , 2020-02-25)

#44

The road and its traffic is very dangerous. Lorries (and other vehicles) thunder down this road. On parts of the footpath you can practically be blown by the turbulence that is often created.

Mo Byrheway (Walsall, 2020-02-25)

#47

My parents in law live on Leighswood Road and I am concerned about their safety and the safety of visiting family members including my two young daughters

Kimberley OReilly (Walsall, 2020-02-25)

#48

As a non driver I walk up and down the road several times a day often with my children, it is so very dangerous, the speed at which dome of the lorrys and trucks come up is unacceptable. In addition the poor drainage means if it has been raining as a pedestrian you get completely soaked when lorrys drive at speed through the horrendous surface water at the junction of leighswood drive. Me and my kids have been drenched from head to foot on numerous occasions.

Emma Buskin (Walsall , 2020-02-25)

#49

Leighswood road has always been a dangerous road

Sngela Jewkes (Walsall, 2020-02-25)

#50

Road is dangerous.

Ruth Jay (Aldridge , 2020-02-25)

#51

I'm in total agreement with the publisher of this petition as I have used this road and have walked down it too with small children. This road is extremely dangerous especially during peak hours, I feel that some precautions must be taken soon before any accidents happen.

Jon Done (Aldridge, 2020-02-25)

#59

I would like to help protect the safety of residents in and around Leighswood Road.

Sarbjit Patel (Walsall , 2020-02-25)

I used to love on Leighswood road and it is too small to accommodate the Hgv’s

Jennifer Beaumont (Walsall, 2020-02-26)

#66

People whose lives, health and well-being I care about are having to live with intolerable levels of traffic wholly unsuited to this road.

Steve Thomson (Chichester, 2020-02-26)

#69

I have friends with young children living on this road.

Gill Grahame (Walsall , 2020-02-26)

#71

Im signing this petition because I use this road to walk to the shops. I live the same side as the narrow footpath and it is very scary. Lorry extremely close and traffic very fast. To cross to the other side we have no pedestrian crossing other than when you have passed the narrow path.

Glynis Done (Walsalĺ, 2020-02-26)

#72

Higher safety measures need to be a priority and banning hgvs is a must

Shirley Nicholls (Aldridge, 2020-02-26)

#75

I live in next road and agree road is dangerous

Pat Oliver (Walsall, 2020-02-27)

Andrew Benton (Aldridge, 2020-02-28)

#77

The danger on this road needs to be addressed and resolved.

Abbie Poulton (Sutton Coldfield , 2020-02-29)

#79

I live locally and I can understand the need for this. The road is narrow even for two cars to pass.

claire parker (WALSALL, 2020-11-18)

#82

I live on Leighswood Road with two small children. The speed at which and the size of the vehicles that come up and down the road are terribly dangerous. The road is too narrow to allow such large vehicles to travel on it safely. There are industrial areas that could be used as alternative routes.

Lorraine Rose (Aldridge , 2020-11-18)

#89

There is a major problem with the heavy goods vehicles driving on pavements, bouncing their vehicles off pavements down Kerbs, and it is only a matter of time before there is a serious accident, or even worse. Action must be taken NOW.

Darren Nunn (Aldridge, 2020-11-18)

#93

I know this road is used as a cut through by big lorries who should keep to the a roads

Wendy Anson (Walsall, 2020-11-18)

#97

I use this road regularly and agree with the statements in the very well presented petition

Pearl Challis (Walsall , 2020-11-18)

Child safety and preserving lives is paramount

Luke Trueman (Lichfield , 2020-11-18)

I walk this road daily and it’s only a matter of time before there’s a fatality.

Chris Dawson (Aldridge , 2020-11-18)

#109

To protect the safety of the Leighswood Road residents and all that use it by banning or at least restricting HGV's.

Sharon Wright (Walsall, 2020-11-18)

#110

As a resident of Aldridge I am concerned about the dangers posed by heavy traffic on Leighswood Road and the loss of amenity to all village residents by heavy traffic on this narrow road.

Anne Wright (Aldridge , 2020-11-18)

#113

The road is unsuitable for heavy goods traffic. The large vehicles make it unacceptably dangerous.Thete is also the question of heavy fuel fume pollution to the nearby houses

John Ecclestone (Aldridge, 2020-11-18)

#115

This stretch of road is lethal in the day because of hgvs, and lethal in the night because of boy racers. For many years walsall MBC has ignored the dangers reported by many including myself. Hopefully this will force action.

Chris King (Walsall, 2020-11-18)

#116

Can be dangerous

Susan Tester (Lichfield, 2020-11-18)

#121

I fear its a matter of time before somebody is seriously injured on this road. There is an alternative option for heavy goods vehicles.

jane soden (walsall, 2020-11-18)

#123

I have family in the area

Andrew Woodall (Watford, 2020-11-18)

#124

This road is far too narrow to safely allow such large lorries.

Joyce Peel (Aldridge, 2020-11-18)

#127

The road is very busy and a main walking route to local schools

Amanda Bull (Walsall , 2020-11-18)

#129

I fully agree with the statements made in the petition.

Colin Flenley (Walsall, 2020-11-19)

#132

My friend lives there and it's a nightmare to even visit them. Crossing the road takes ages and is very dangerous.

Simone Lockyer (SUTTON COLDFIELD, 2020-11-19)

#133

The information in this petition is correct. The road is always extremely busy with heavy goods vehicles making up a large percentage of all traffic. Many vehicles drive too fast and whilst this is a concern on any road the width of the road and pavement on certain parts of Leighswood Rd make for extra cause for concern. I would support signs (as per Leighswood ave) showing no entry (except for loading) to larger vehicles and traffic calming for all. HGV could reroute along Middlemore Lane (mostly industrial) thereby offering some relief to traffic problems along the thinnest parts of Leighswood Rd without impacting on residential and pedestrian routes to and from Aldridge.

Matthew Davies (Walsall, 2020-11-19)

#134

Im signing because the noise of a lorry steaming past my house has become too much, as well as this, because of a drain located outside of our house, a speeding lorry always shakes the whole house.

Tom Taddei-Davies (Birmingham , 2020-11-19)

#139

Such a busy road, when I’m cycling along that road it’s dangerous with heavy goods traffic...it’s a narrow road not safe at all even when crossing it..

Karen Waple (Walsall, 2020-11-19)

#140

I live on Leighswood Road and witness first-hand the volume of heavy traffic passing by, not to mention the volume of sound they make!
My children use Leighswood Road, and there are many elderly residents walking from the apartments to the centre. Some of the footpaths are narrow.

Paul Hughes (Walsall, 2020-11-19)

#144

The amount of HGVs along Leighswood and Stubbers Green Road is now overwhelming and is a great danger and health hazard to local residents. The pavements are narrow and are not conducive to walking into Aldridge. The crossing of the road is extremely dangerous.

Raymond Humes (Walsall , 2020-11-19)

#147

This road is totally inadequate for HGV,s

Christine Evans (West Midlands, 2020-11-19)

#148

I knew a work colleague who was caught up on a hgv vehicle and dragged into the road breaking his collar bone back in 1997.

Adam Dilloway (Walsall , 2020-11-19)

#150

Very dangerous road no space.

Sylvia Bashford (Walsall, 2020-11-19)

#151

I agree with Lucy that this road is unsuitable for large vehicles, especially when they are passing one another in opposite directions and turning into and out of Middlemore lane. Having regularly cycled with my children from our home in Shelfield into Aldridge, during lockdown, I wouldn't dream of doing this now that the traffic is back on the road. I was nearly clipped in my car only this morning as a lorry travelling in the opposite direction decided to overtake a cyclist, thus coming onto my side of the road and I had nowhere to go. It was very close and I wasn't far from mounting the kerb myself to avoid them. Thankfully there weren't any pedestrians that i could have clipped myself. This road feels an accident waiting to happen

Hannah Evans (Walsall, 2020-11-19)

#154

There is too many tips in Aldridge
already

Phillipa Denning (West mudlands, 2020-11-20)

#155

Too many heavy vehicles, also people drive too fast on this residential road.

Daniela Taddei (Walsal, 2020-11-20)

#159

Look how dangerous it is. Something needs to be done before it’s too late!!!

MIS Ramsey (WALSALL, 2020-11-21)

#160

There an accident waiting to happen!

Barbara King (Walsall, 2020-11-22)

#162

It’s only a matter of time! The danger is obvious, the alternative routes are possible, the safety of people comes first!

Debra Meftah (Walsall , 2020-11-24)

#163

It is frightening to walk on the pavement on this road as it is so busy with enormous trucks and juggernauts speeding along just inches from you. A lot of the houses along that road are only yards from the roadside and are covered in dust and grime thrown up from the road by the traffic.
