I'm signing because the current cast of York Pantomime have been INSTRUMENTAL in carrying through successfully this tradition for more than forty years and they are at least 50% of the reason why so many people go to the York Pantomime every year.

James Cook (Harrogate, 2020-01-12)

#803

The Panto was part of my Christmas life in the 1950's and introduced me to theatre. I went again in 2012 and it was the same magical experience. You have no idea what panto does for he growing mind of a child. All this will be lost if the panto is cancelled.

Ian Ramsden (Colombo, 2020-01-12)

#805

This panto is the reason a lot of us come to the theatre year after year. Whilst Berwick retiring is a sad loss, keeping true to the panto's much loved roots is key to giving the audience what they want and what they have come to expect and love.

James Cooper (York , 2020-01-12)

#806

The York Theatre Royal pantomime is a unique, precious and dearly loved cultural phenomenon.

Rhona Graham (Leeds, 2020-01-12)

#811

My first pantomime with the YTR was over 30 years ago. I've never lived in York, but have travelled from home, even when home was overseas, to see each year. I've seen cast come, go, come back, go again. It's a family and it will change as we grow old and we bring the next generation to see it. But please, YTR, don't kick out it's heart and soul by kicking out Martin, Suzy, AJ and David. Let it grow and evolve, and stay true it's heart. Keep the cast, keep the spirit and keep your biggest earner!

Libby Jackson (Swindon, 2020-01-12)

#813

The Theatre Royal Panto is unique and part of my family’s Christmas traditions. It isn’t commercialize with so called famous people, it’s part of ’York’. Please don’t take it away.

Debbie Todd (York, 2020-01-12)

#815

There’s no other Panto like York theatre royals, I’ve worked in theatre for 30 years and this is the best of the best.

Steve Athey (Barnsley, 2020-01-12)

#816

I'm signing because our family attend every year and we don't want to lose this valuable part of our Christmas tradition

Maxine Taylor (York, 2020-01-12)

#821

We have enjoyed this pantomime for a long time and it is always something to look forward to. Yes Berwick has been missed as he is such a big personality, but David Leonard and Martin Barras and Susie Cooperhave done a brilliant job. All the cast are brilliant and know their audience well. Don't try to mend something that isn't broken. If we wanted big 'celebrities' we'd go to a different pantomime. If it's changed we just won't come.

Helen Tabert (York, 2020-01-12)

#822

i have been to the panto for the best part of 35 years and have loved every minute, its just fantastic entertainment, our 10 year old son has enjoyed the last nine years and looks forward to many more visits.

RICHARD BURTON (Tadcaster, 2020-01-12)

#823

I'm signing because we attend York theatre royal panto every year it's a family tradition of ours. We would be devastated if it was axed. We are now starting to bring our children to enjoy the show just as much as we do.

Joanne Flinton (Malton , 2020-01-12)

#825

I have supported the Pantomime every ear since Berwick started 41 years ago, many times twice. Now attend with three generations....

Keith Meadley (York, 2020-01-12)

#827

The pantomime at York Theatre Royal is a vital and traditional link to the community, and has opened up this beautiful theatre and theatre in general to generations of families .

Ian Copperwheat (York, 2020-01-12)

#830

We have regularly attended and enjoyed this fabulous show for over 20 years.

David Brewer (York, 2020-01-12)

#831

The panto is amazing
Berwick should come back as they all work so well together And I love the laughter and banter they have together
My fave is the baddie David Leonard
He is incredible and I could enjoy watching him in his own panto
He makes the show for me

Donna Tasker (York, 2020-01-12)

#833

I’ve have grown up with the panto and would one day if I have children love them to grow up with it as well. I love it.

Sarah Wiles (Blackburn , 2020-01-12)

#840

It just needs to find it’s feet without Berwick

Sarah Coggins (York, 2020-01-12)

#843

This show is the very reason I am now a stage manager in the west end. Inspired me to go out and work hard for a degree in theatre.

Ben Eddon-carruthers (London, 2020-01-12)

#846

The pantomime at York is part of our Christmas every year and as been for a lot of years.

Paula Jessop (York, 2020-01-12)

#851

The Theatre Royal Panto is not only a great tradition which brings generations of families together at Christmas it is also very specific to York and yet people travel from all across the country to see it. It is not a museum piece, it’s a fantastic, living and meaningful show which is as relevant today as it has been for the past 40 years!

Christopher Madin (London, 2020-01-12)

#853

This Panto and cast must be saved.

Andrew Smith (York, 2020-01-12)

#856

Enjoy the panto. It was as good as always

Serina Appleyard (York, 2020-01-12)

#858

These pantos are great, and it would truly be a shame if they were to be cancelled. I no longer live in York, but still make sure I go to this panto every year

Mark Bradley (Leeds, 2020-01-12)

#859

This pantomime is what myself and my family look forward to every year at Xmas. Without it, it would not feel like Xmas what so ever. We have been coming for over 20 years and it never disappoints. The cast and crew are one of the best in the business.

Tom James (York, 2020-01-12)

#862

It is the best panto anywhere and it would a great lose to York and what could you replace it with

Katherine Robertson (York, 2020-01-12)

#863

This is and has been the best pantomime for my whole life

Francesca Sims (Harrogate , 2020-01-12)

#867

It’s the best panto there is! We have been coming to see this rubbish for about 24years and each year our group gets bigger as our children bring their partners and now our 2 grandsons have been. We want to keep the tradition going for many more years to come.

Nikki Nelson (York, 2020-01-12)

#868

Hundreds of people look forward to seeing this cast year after year. It makes a fortune for the theatre they has no commerciality to axe it

Andrea Warner (Selby, 2020-01-12)

#872

I've been living in york for eight years now and me and my partner have been every year. We love this panto and would hate to see it go because of one difficult year as it makes one of the biggest changes it will face in a long time. It needs another year to find its swing and its years of fantastic shows should be enough for it to get that chance.

Penny Rainford (York, 2020-01-12)

#888

This year's show was appalling. Rowntree players was a much more professional production. This panto has been s family tradition for 37 years with 3rd generation now attending. There may be more cheap sests this year but premium seats were heavily increased in price and that was before we knew format of new show

Carol Hugill (York, 2020-01-12)

#891

Iv grown up with this cast, it’s tradition to go see this amazing cast and watch “the same old rubbish” every year. From being a kid, this panto cast has made my Christmas and new year, I go to see them , for there rubbish plot and comedic value. Id they left to set up elsewhere, I would 100% follow them , no matter the location !!!!! Plus bring Derek back , he was comedic gold .

Laura Quinn (Goole , 2020-01-12)

#892

I have been going to The Panto since I was a babby in years. It allows me to continue being a babby in spirit (aged 57)

Janet Ahlberg (Uppsala, 2020-01-12)

#894

I believe the decision is short sighted.
The panto is an institution which provides a large portion of the theatres income. It also brings generations of families together in one place from many miles away.
It is so much more than just a panto with so many people looking forward to seeing the actors they love being an annual event

Paul Forth (York, 2020-01-12)

#897

The cast deserve a chance to keep this panto going with a new Dame!

Liz Greatrix (Selby, 2020-01-12)

#900

I have been going to the pantomime since I was a toddler am now forty and this panto as been the main stay of York for years a proper traditional panto and should be that way for years to come. Bring back Berwick

Richard Massey (York, 2020-01-12)

#901

This pantomime is unlike any other, its appeal to the people of York is the fact its filled seats (the most uncomfortable no leg room and hard)for 40 years.I and members of my family have enjoyed it for 30+,is this the way to treat loyalty of cast etc and audience??I do remember the utter dross before Berwick!

Paul Rogers (York, 2020-01-12)

#904

After seeing and appearing in other Panto’s around the UK I find it sad that the best Panto in the land has to come to an end! I enjoyed many years sharing the stage with this cast! I’m sure that not producing a BK written Panto with the cast for YTR will have a huge detrimental effect on the future financial situation of YTR as well as the respect it has gained throughout the years! This is so saddening!

Michael Joseph (London, 2020-01-12)

#905

Its a family tradition going to see the cast in this pantomime every January

Carol Hotchkies (York, 2020-01-12)

#906

The pantomime with the well known cast is a lifelong family tradition

Angela Maine (Derby, 2020-01-12)

#910

Love the cast, don't mess with the formula.

Pawel Leszczynski (Sheffield, 2020-01-12)

#911

THIS panto is my FAMILY TRADITION, we travel to see it every year. Wouldn’t come for ANY other cast

Lisa Quinn (Goole, 2020-01-12)

#912

It's a brilliant pantomime and should carry on.

Mads Christine (Sheffield, 2020-01-12)

#914

I have been coming with my famil for over twentyfive years after being introduced to the York Panto by my wife who originated in York

John Maine (Derby, 2020-01-12)

#915

The York theatre royal pantomime is unique in that is full of talented performers, not just mediocre celebrities like most other venues/cities use! It would be awful to lose what is a valued tradition for not only our family but many others...

Laura Logue (York , 2020-01-12)

#920

The pantomime displays the best of theatrical tradition from the commedia dell arte to contemporary drama. It has delighted generations and never fallen for the false hype of using TV stars but rather created it's own who are very dear to the audiences.

Catherine Griffiths (Malton , 2020-01-12)

#921

I love York panto and have attended (often more than once per show) for over 10 years

Caroline Elsey (Leigh-on-Sea, 2020-01-12)

#923

Christmas wouldn’t be the same without our mad crazy panto

Julie Douglas (York, 2020-01-12)

#927

My friend and all her family have been going to this for years and make a special trip from Derby back to York her home town to watch this. She has been taking her children for years and was hoping to be able to carry on the tradition of taking her future grandchildren. She always talks about it and is full of praise for all involved.

Tess Bull (Derby, 2020-01-12)

#932

This is a fantastic panto why fix something which isn't broken. But does seem to be the way YTR is going on many levels.

Dorothy Prescott (Driffield, 2020-01-12)

#934

This pantom belongs to York.

Judith Hall (York, 2020-01-12)

#935

I'm signing because I've been going to the Theatre Royal pantomime on and off for more than 60 years. It was obvious that Berwick was a hard act to follow, but the format without celebs with incredible timing and lovely dancing, singing, costumes and sets has always been a winner.

Judith Jones (London , 2020-01-12)

#940

I'm signing because I've been to the last 31 years of pantomime at the Theatre Royal, it's part of my life, management need to be aware the last time they tried this it nearly ended in the theatre closing down, get rid of the set designer (and the front cloths), not the pantomime!

Brian McGregor (York, 2020-01-12)

#941

We have been coming to this panto for many years, we don’t want to lose our regular panto stars. Just bring in a new dame, we’ll get used to it!

Victoria Dibbs (York, 2020-01-12)

#950

this pantomime is a national treasure - please keep it as it is

barry tordoff (york, 2020-01-12)

#953

You cannot axe such a wonderful family Christmas event! This year will be my family’s 30th Panto! Christmas won’t be the same without this wonderful production. Do not scrap this wonderful Panto!

Paul Yeoman (Scarborough, 2020-01-12)

#954

The panto is part of York's history and yes it will be different without Berwick but in its own right it was still a good panto

Jemma Brown (Nottinghamshire, 2020-01-12)

#958

I’ve been going to the panto for the last 30 plus years. Its the only one my family have ever been too. The cast are absolutely brilliant. Berwick’s legacy has to live on xx

Elizabeth Skelland (York , 2020-01-12)

#962

It's a family tradition since I was young and now with my children to go to the panto yearly with will be a devastating loss to ax the panto for everyone

Heather Anderson (York, 2020-01-12)

#964

It’s an institution which is part of our family Christmas in York

Iain Anderson (York, 2020-01-12)

Lynda Hart (Birmingham , 2020-01-12)

#971

I have been travelling to York for 12 years to see this panto. I know there are many who have been going for a lot longer. It's a wonderful panto and the amazing cast are a testament to its continued success. The festive season just won't be the same without our annual trip to York.

Nina Flash (Dudley , 2020-01-12)

#974

My husband and I have been to every show, it has been a part of our Christmas for years,. We have introduced a number of family member to it and they all still attend to this day.

Janet Goodyer (York, 2020-01-12)

#975

I'm signing because this annual rubbish is the best panto in the world. The cast and crew are like a big family and always show so much love. Four generations of our family have loved coming for decades.

Rachel Pena Harran (York, 2020-01-12)

#976

I adore York panto,it almost feels as if it’s personal to every person in the audience. I’ve taken my children to every panto that Berwick has ever been in,plus quite a few before. I couldn’t imagine York without one.

Maxine Fearn (York, 2020-01-12)

#977

Pantomimes are the brliiant introduction to live theate. Its vital that each local town and village should retain the Panto for the benefit of our children's futures

Andrew Halden (Stafford , 2020-01-12)

#986

I love this pantomime, have been for the last 12 years and would miss it if it went.. I DO NOT enjoy the 'celebrity' style pantos, especially with z star cast, York would be lost without this traditional panto

Gill Crook (York, 2020-01-12)

#987

The pantomime provides a wonderful theatre experience for all generations to enjoy together.

Graham Horsman (GOOLE, 2020-01-12)

#989

The ticket prices this year were greatly increased and therefore we didn’t attend. Not because Berwick wasn’t there as we would still have supported the cast but not supporting theatre royal for exploiting customers

JuliA Horsman (Howden, 2020-01-12)

#991

I love this Panto and I want to see it continue for many many years

Kath Robson (York, 2020-01-12)

#993

I would hate to see this great tradition discontinued, this York pantomime is unique.

Julie Buxton (Contin, 2020-01-12)

#994

It's a part of York Christmas now, retaining the same cast makes it very special.

Chris Buxton (Contin, 2020-01-12)

Grant Johnson (Leeds, 2020-01-12)
