I believe that young people need a direction and a place to develop and grow and this gym is one of the few places in Beverley for our young people. They are constantly criticised for hanging around on the streets so they must be getting into trouble!! They have no facilities available for them to meet please don’t take another positive club away from them .

Jane Simpson (Beverley , 2019-09-12)

I feel health and fitness is a crucial part of youth development and keeping kids and young adults on a good life path....

There need more places that support both mental and physical health in both adults and children. Boxing in the community is a great way of supporting this.

Kris Metcalfe (Market Weighton , 2019-09-12)

#1222

Beverley needs this type of facility to give the kids a fun and interesting alternative to spending time on the streets! I think this will be a travesty if it closes, as it's teaches kids so many different disciplines.

Sally Groome (Beverley, 2019-09-12)

#1225

I feel that this boxing centre is a great extension of the youth of Beverley s educational and social needs and therefore as the building is an educational one the courses run here are fitting and also educational and could be extended to include more adult classes for the general public to also enjoy

Edwina Jackson (Beverley , 2019-09-12)

#1231

We need more of these places ... not less by closing them down

Mike Stones (Hull, 2019-09-12)

Because a club like this should be supported. It is useful to the local community on so many levels and character building for our young people.

This club is keeping kids and young adults off the streets and keeping them fit, with all the obesity problems this will just add to the problem, really disappointing to hear, shame on the council.

A close friend of mine has a daughter that uses this gym

Daniel Beet (Hull, 2019-09-12)

#1291

There are very few clubs for young people in the town of Beverley. This one is integral and boxing helps young people manage emotional strains and stresses. If we loose it I fear more young people will take to destructive behaviour.

Lindsey Mason (Beverley, 2019-09-12)

#1292

Young people need this

Anne marie Knott (Beverley, 2019-09-12)

#1294

I'm signing this because the gym has delivered a service on the estate that has excelled in expectation and by inviting the young local community in, has kept kids off the streets and has found some raw and upcoming talent.
It is a priceless entity and should not be closed down.

Tom Moore (Beverley , 2019-09-12)

#1296

I love boxing !!!!

James Tudor (Hull, 2019-09-12)

#1300

The community need this facility

Donna Sainsbury (Hull, 2019-09-12)

#1302

This is an excellent resource for children and young people and very much needed locally. It’d be devastating for the local community if it was taken away.

Louise Robinson (Hull, 2019-09-12)

#1304

I’m signing because almost everything in Beverley has been taken away from the younger generation and now this , pretty much the last thing they have to keep them of the streets and getting into trouble, we should be building there future not destroying it ! Think about it hard and how much of an impact this is going to have on the people of Beverley.....

Jessica Cook (Beverley , 2019-09-12)

#1305

this is not only good for hull but the surrounding area to.

Young people need discipline and direction. Sports and boxing are great ways of achieving that.

Kevin Sissons (Cairns , 2019-09-13)

#1315

My grandchildren would have benefited from use of the club.

Cedric Robson (Beverley, 2019-09-13)

#1316

Young people need more role models and structure not less. Why not put some of your hard earned council funds towards the young - the next generation rather than your expenses. Where’s Emma Hardy when you need her??????

Liz Sellers (Driffield , 2019-09-13)

#1317

It's important to keep youth facilities open, especially in Beverley, on the estate where there are very few facilities

Richard Simpson (Beverley , 2019-09-13)

#1318

I think it’s important to support local clubs that mean so much to people

Rebecca Lancaster (Beverley , 2019-09-13)

#1319

I think it’s atrocious that you would even consider closing this amazing organisation down. We are trying to keep kids off the street ... how will closing down a boxing club down help this?

Gillian Russell (Beverley , 2019-09-13)

#1320

This boxing club is instrumental in building confidence , making new friends, team building, keeping fit allowing them to plan a future for themselves in this difficult world!

I feel there is a desperate need for community activity for all ages

#1322

This service is helping combat kids on the street, much needed resource in the community

Ruth Dickson (Beverley , 2019-09-13)

#1325

No boxing club should be shut down. These clubs install discipline and a healthy lifestyle.

Paul French (Middlesbrough , 2019-09-13)

#1328

This is a critical community resource giving young adults the opportunity to develop crucial life skills. The club do great work and I urge ERYC to review and reconsider their decision. St Mary’s ward cannot afford to lose such a valuable resource

Shaun Blencoe (Beverley, 2019-09-13)

#1331

This club is an asset to the community. Not only for fitness but for discipline, respect and self worth.

Zak Pardoe (Beverley, 2019-09-14)

#1338

It is an absurlut discrase that ERYC can’t assist the club to move forward and undermine the outstanding work done by a team of dedicated volunteers.
Hang your head in shame ERYC

Ash Oldfield (Hull, 2019-09-14)

#1345

The loss of the club will be a sad loss to many youngsters. There are limited resources for youngsters in the area so this closure can not be made.

Sally Northen (East Yorkshire , 2019-09-14)

#1348

There is not enough activities in our town for youngsters which benefit health and well-being to so many children currently and in the future.

Emma Lockhart (Beverley , 2019-09-15)

#1349

Kids today need our support more then ever and boxing provides fitness support and a family like unit

Julie Gray (Tunbridge Wells , 2019-09-15)

#1350

Because this is a valuable community based club - that gives young people life skills builds character and channels them in the right direction. Giving them positive role models and would be a massive loss to the town.

Paul Furness (Beverley , 2019-09-15)

#1354

I coach at Kingston BC & know how important clubs like this are in helping the young n the old have a direction n somewhere to get them of the streets or just some where to have a chat

Carl Gregory (Hull, 2019-09-15)

#1356

My great grand children go there & love it

Mary Cowburn (Leeds , 2019-09-15)

Very good facility run by a good team of lads

Daniel Janney (Hull, 2019-09-15)

#1361

Council need to be offering up sport halls at the flemingate gym and supporting local clubs as opposed to franchised zumba classes.

Sam Moore (Hornsea, 2019-09-15)

#1366

I don't agree with taking something away from the kids which they love!

Niall Craven (York , 2019-09-15)

#1367

This centre provides an amazing location for the community to come together and exercise, socialise and get away from the isolating impact of permanently gazing into little screens all day every day.

David Smith (Hornsea , 2019-09-15)

#1370

This is a much needed resource in a town with less and less fur a young people to do. Don't rant about youth roaming the streets when you take away every other option.

Damian Walenta (Beverley, 2019-09-15)

#1372

It would be a disgrace to take this away from local kids!

Jamie Drury (Beverley , 2019-09-15)

#1375

Its a disgrace the council can do this.

Paul Locke (Hull, 2019-09-15)

#1377

kieran appleton (Hull, 2019-09-15)

#1386

So you keep the gym open, things such as these are very important to the community they serve.

Peter Smith (Beverley, 2019-09-15)

#1388

My husband was Beverley boxer Tony Bagshaw and I have seen the positive outcomes for children to learn discipline and have a place to belong. Do not close this resource for kids!!

Janet Bagshaw (Wellington, 2019-09-15)

#1393

This club is needed for the kids and adults. ITS TIME COUNCIL STOPED NOT FUNDING THINGS FOR KIDS THATS WHY WE HAVE SO MANY RUNNING RIOT ROUND THE STREETS.

Katherine Hartley (Beverley, 2019-09-15)

#1394

There aren't enough places for kids or sport as it is... Disgraceful.
I bet if it was a bowls club etc or cricket, tennis they'd be keeping it open. Working classes screwed over again

Kevin Roberts (York, 2019-09-16)

#1398

I love locally, know children who used and benifit greatly from the club. Will be sad to loose yet another great facility on the swinemoore estate

Michaela Needham (Beverley, 2019-09-16)

#1400

Clubs like this help turn young children into mature, well disciplined young men. These clubs are an integral part of the community and help keep people fit and in a good state of health and well being mentally as well as physically. It is important that all boxing clubs should be considered as an essential hub within all communities and should receive maximum support. As I have watched my local boxing club and its coaches support and train young children and adults (including myself) and change their life’s significantly.
