Huntingdonshire District Council Parking Fees

Comments

#801

I am signing because the new parking prices are expensive and frankly stupid

Kathryn Smythe (Huntingdon, 2019-08-13)

#804

We have been mislead. Residents were told parking will be more affordable as you will only pay in 15min blocks. This is a lie, there is a minimum of 2 hours before this kicks in, also many car parks are loosing the rate for 1 hour meaning an increase of 300% in some car parks, all done and got through by changing a some from
Short stay to long stay. Residents were completely mislead during consultation.

Sarah Hammonds (Huntingdon , 2019-08-13)

#805

Parking fees are destroying our town centres

Jeanette Eddy (Eaton Socon, 2019-08-14)

#806

I think the price hike is too much and would like to see the high street survive, not die.

Jules Shelley (Huntingdon , 2019-08-14)

#811

There should only be multiples of £1 per hour as a fee.
1hr = £1
2hr = £2
3hrs = £3....etc

Mark Sheridan (Huntingdon , 2019-08-14)

#812

This is a retrograde step which will damage our Town Centre, please reinstate the one hour slot and reduce the charge to encourage visitors

Mike Truswell (St Neots, 2019-08-14)

#813

We need to encourage people to visit our town, and have an enjoyable stay - they may even come back and visit again. Doubling the car park charges will discourage people from visiting. Additionally it will encourage visitors to street park in areas that do not have parking restrictions - thus clogging up the already overcrowded back streets.

Alan Hurst (St. Neots, 2019-08-14)

#814

I am signing because this will further discourage visits to the town

Larry Fitch (St Neots , 2019-08-14)

#815

I'm signing because increased parking fees will drive people away from the St Neots Town Centre, just when we need more footfall to support High St retail.

Bob Silverthorne (St Neots, 2019-08-14)

#816

Because I disagree with the the removal of the 1hr option

Mike Andrews (St Neots, 2019-08-14)

#820

The decision will damage an already failing town centres in Huntingdonshire.

Richard Shaw (St Neots , 2019-08-14)

#821

What a good way to destroy the High Street. I feel sorry for the traders.

Sue Shaw (St Neots, 2019-08-14)

#825

This increase will drive people away from the high street to out of town, free parking shopping areas.

Barbara Silverthorne (St Neots, 2019-08-14)

#826

Because of the crass decision made by the HDC to increase parking charges by 100% in the most used car park!

Tony Oliver (St Neots, 2019-08-14)

#827

Increasing parking charges as proposed is another nail in the coffin of town centres

Martin Kamper (Eltisley, 2019-08-14)

#829

I don’t agree with the charge changes I often pop into towns for quick things like paying in a cheque or dental appointments and I don’t want to pay for 2 hours!

Heidi Louise fisher (Sawtry, 2019-08-14)

#830

Because the cost of parking is becoming far too expensive for ordinary working people, and you the Council are killing off the High Street through greed

Elizabeth Plumb (Godmanchester, 2019-08-14)

#832

It angers me that hdc want to change the car park prices it's hard enough to find somewhere to park where I can afford the parking fee and find a space to park near town as it is now they make the riverside a long stay so they can put a 300 per cent increase on the parking fee rediculous they moan that the town shops are being pushed out of business by the internet so what they do is help by increasing the parking fees around town to extortionate amounts x

Kimberley Goodes (Alconbury, 2019-08-14)

#834

Reduced costs for parking and the I hour option encourage people to visit the town more frequently

William Waters (St Neots, 2019-08-14)

#835

I live in St Neots and this will have a detrimental affect on our town centre and independent shops.

Richard Bream (St. Neots, 2019-08-14)

#838

because I think this is a backwards step in creating thriving towns. we should be welcoming people not penalizing them for a quick trip to the barber's nail bar ect higher prices less foot fall and as a villager who has to drive it's making me consider not entering the town's at all as I can find my needs in other areas.. this means cancelling my gym membership also

Amber Manfroi-Lynn (huntingdon, 2019-08-14)

#842

I’m a life long resident of St Neots. I do not park in the town very often but if I do it’s only for one hour. These parking changes will affect people’s choices about using the town centre parking. I believe it is unnecessary and a bad decision for the future of St Neots town centre.

Rebecca Betts (St Neots, 2019-08-14)

#846

I'm signing this petition because I believe this huge, way above inflation increase will adversely affect businesses in the town.

Michael Matthews (St Neots, 2019-08-14)

#850

It will devistate the town. No more just popping in to get something. No more free blue badge parking. No more free parking after 6.00pm for people dining out. No more free Sunday parking to got out as a family to enjoy Sunday roast look round shops and riverside. Instead of doing all will have to make it a once a week trip. Food for the family v parking charges? Food for family wins everytime. Paying high council and road tax is bad enough.

Margaret Howell (St Neots, 2019-08-15)

#855

I think it is very important to have a cheap, or preferably, short term parking option. Otherwise people will use out of town supermarkets that offer free parking.

John Daniels (St Neots, 2019-08-15)

#857

Even though I am a disabled badge holder and I don't pay it is unfair. People just pop into for a few bits and out again but not now x

Andrea Goldfinch (St.neots , 2019-08-15)

#863

We need encourage people into the town and cater for those who want to only pop into town for a brief visit.

Darren Coffey (St Neots , 2019-08-15)

#867

I completely disagree with these proposed increases in parking charges in St Neots - another nail in the coffin of high street trading!

Jonathan Lamb (St Neots, 2019-08-15)

#868

I believe that the huge increase in charges will have a negative effect on retail outlets within our town centre. We often go into the town centre to meet for coffee, library and shopping trips. A small charge is something we can and do accept, however a large jump in the cost of parking will make me less likely to travel into town. We try to support British owned businesses but may be forced to use foreign competitors who have free parking on retail parks nearer to our residence.

Stephen Bailey (St. Neots, 2019-08-15)

#869

It is wrong to force peole to pay double what most would and will only be parked for less an hour. It will deter shoppers and local traders will see a dip in sales as folk boycott parking.

Owen Gallagher (St Neots, 2019-08-15)

#872

Because this will reduce footfall in the town & impact adversely on local businesses and amenities. More people paying less for parking is far better for the town than fewer paying more!

Jennifer Martin (St Neots, 2019-08-15)

#875

Free parking!! Not more cost!!

Abby Red (St Neots , 2019-08-15)

#877

The consultation didn't make it clear that the car parks would be re-designated from short to long stag and the minimum stay times/fees increased.
It is unfair to increase the minimum stay with some visits to important local services only requiring a few minutes (ie post office, bank, doctors and dentist).

A Lane (St Neots, 2019-08-16)

#884

I do not agree with scraping the hour parking fee or increasing the parking fee as this will be detrimental to the shops in the town.

Jeannette Hooker (St. Neots, 2019-08-16)

#889

total disregard for local peoples and businesses views etc also no mention disabled parking etc and access there off that i am aware of

Sidney Smith (ST NEOTS CAMBS, 2019-08-17)

#890

By getting rid of the hour charge you will stop people shopping in town. Another knife in the death of the town high street.. even though I do not like Tesco at least the parking if free and that should be the case everywhere. We already pay enough to own a car

Robertt harding (St Neots, 2019-08-17)

#891

I’m signing this petition because the district council doesn’t seem to listen to the people that they are working for! The footfall in St.Neots is in decline and yet they think increasing the parking charges will help to rectify this. All it will do is drive people away from town instead of encouraging them to come in and use our facilities. Adding increments of 15 minutes to parking is a great idea , but only from the minimum one hour stay, which we are used to paying already. Where as now we rush to get back within the hour, or two, paying for what you use., over and above makes sense to me.
Everyone is happy, locals, because they get what they pay for, and the council get more money!!

Fiona Harding (St neots, 2019-08-17)

#892

The 1 hour facility should be kept
Using Tebbuts road car park this week took me mins; why should I pay for 2 hours

Cliff Hall (St Neots, 2019-08-17)

#893

This increase defies all logic. It will reduce footfall in the High street as people will opt to go to out of town sites where parking is free. Like many, I will think twice about parking in town for my visits which are now going to cost me double. Well done for driving another nail into the High Street coffin!

Ron Wallace (St Neots, 2019-08-17)

#894

I use the car parks in town most weekends for little errands or appointments however I object to having to pay for 2 hours parking when I am mostly under the hour. This will put a lot of people off going into town.

Teresa Wolstencroft (St neots, 2019-08-17)

#895

There should be a one hour option on all car parks and we do not need an increase in the charges.

Lynda Cooper (St Neots, 2019-08-17)

#898

I am signing this petition because I believe that increasing the minimum parking time to two hours and increasing the fess will have a seriously detrimental effect on the town centre of St Neots. We need to support the shops not make it more difficult for them to survive.

Ian Edwards (St Neots, 2019-08-18)

#900

To increase the charge will be the death of the town. We already struggle as the poor relation with Huntingdon having all the best shops, so to make it too expensive for people to park here means that nobody will come and soon the High Street will be full of empty units. Surely if an upgrade is needed it should be more like the Luke Street carpark in Bedford where your registration is electronically collected as you go in and is charged at the machine in the way out in small increments according to the length of your stay? That’s truly ‘pay what you use’ parking not this poor excuse for gathering money to prop up the council’s budget!!

Mary Stealey (St Neots, 2019-08-18)

#905

I'm signing because many local residents will not need two hours of parking. I would support 1 hour minimum

Marjorie Chapple (ST. NEOTS, 2019-08-18)

#906

Many visitors to St neots will NOT need 2 hours parking. I would support 1 hour

David Chapple (St Neots, 2019-08-18)

#907

During consultation it was never made clear that 1 hour parking would be axed.

Also in St Neots the Tebbuts Road has now been deemed a long stay car park, despite historically being a short stay car park (which had a separate long stay parking area at the back). At least a 90 minute parking option for 'long stay' car parks would be a compromise. At present the change is likely to discourage people from shopping in town, at a time when High Street shops are already struggling.

Keith Moss (St Neots, 2019-08-18)

#908

I'm signing because I believe that the changes will have a detrimental impact on visitor numbers to the town.

Andrew Wright (St. Neots, 2019-08-19)

#913

I use the town centre and Riverside car parks regularly and as a pensioner do not need the extra costs.

John McMurrugh (St Neots, 2019-08-19)

#915

I use the car parks in St Neots at least 3 times a week, and each visit lasts less the 1 hour.
If these new charges are introduced I will avoid the town centre as everything I need can be found at Tesco, Aldi, etc.

David March (St Neots, 2019-08-20)

#916

I am totally opposed to the parking charges imposed by HDC on car parks in our town.

Sandie Giles (St Neots, 2019-08-22)

#917

I fail to comprehend the logic behind decisions like this. There are a number of occasions when I just want to go into town for a very short period of time (eg - pick up a prescription). If this mean minded upgrade goes ahead I will be making other arrangements. Who loses out - the town & the High Street. Barmy!

Peter Hay (St. Neots, 2019-08-23)

#918

The removal of the one hour option is crazy, I do realise prices do have to rise occasionally but to over double the cost of short stay is insane.

Ian Percy (St Ives , 2019-08-24)

#919

It is ludicrous that you are no longer able to park for one hour in the car parks around Huntingdonshire.

Jane Percy (Houghton, Huntingdon, 2019-08-24)

#920

This will damage the income of local traders who are currently under pressure from online traders.

Graham Wright (St Neots, 2019-08-25)

#921

Most Huntingdonshire towns do not have enough shops to warrant more than 1 hour.

Alison McCaul (Cambridgeshire, 2019-08-29)

#922

Car parking charges are killing the town centre

David Clancey (St Neots, 2019-08-29)

#927

Totally detrimental to the town centre.

Susan Hazard (Eaton Socon, Saint Neots, UK, 2019-08-30)

#929

Bring back one hour charge

Colin Glen (Bluntisham, 2019-08-30)

#931

I used the 1 or 2 hr short stay at Riverside in Huntingdon costing 40 or 60p but now have to pay £1.60 that is unacceptable.

Gary Jennings (Huntingdon, 2019-08-30)

#935

I feel these increased charges will further damage the economy of the town centre and the use of areas like the riverside.

Andrew Grantham (St Neots, 2019-08-30)

#936

Removing the 1 Hour parking is just plain stupid, it will just drive people away from the town.

Nick Sharp (Eynesbury. St Neots, 2019-09-04)

#937

I’m signing as this is obviously wrong, as is having machines that do not give change, and charge obscure amounts so you end up paying more...

Carl Howkins (St Neots, 2019-09-04)

#939

I park every day in town, which costs me £25 per week. I’m so sick of the lack of decent long stay parking near to my office , I’m now considering moving our business away from Huntingdon town centre.

susan Roberts (Huntingdon, 2019-09-10)

#940

It's a scam

Jordan Markham (St Neots, 2019-09-10)

#941

I think it will keep out of what are already struggling towns eg St Neots esp given lack of public transport

Sheila Brighton (HUntingdon, 2019-09-11)

#945

I often pop into the town for less than 1 hour and to remove that option means I shall now go out of town where there is free parking more often.

Sue Jarrett (St Neots, 2019-09-12)

#946

To support local business and park users

D White (St Neots, 2019-09-12)

#948

I'm disgusted at such a price home for car parking charges. This will affect parents with children during school holidays wanting to take their children to a free park!!! If you want to encourage people to shop in the high street then make the parking cheap or free parking.

Pauline Eastoe (St Neots, 2019-09-13)

#949

A two hour minimum fee is ridiculous. If you are going to pick up a prescription or pop to the Dentist, you want a one hour fee

Michelle Laing (ST. IVES, 2019-09-14)

#964

I am outraged and saddened at the latest attempt to drive people away from our amazing town. Prior to the charges being raised, Riverside car park was almost empty whenever I visited. What do the authorities think is going to happen now? It will kill our town. I shall not be using the parking facilities in town now. If I need to buy anything now I shall visit the out of town supermarkets where parking is free. I can only assume this latest nail in the coffin has been provided by Huntingdon who have always envied our beautiful town.

Maureen Bunting (St neots, 2019-09-14)

#968

This is not the way to help the fortunes of the High Street. It is also complicated and will deter some people from using the car parks so they may go elsewhere

Susan Winton (St Neots, 2019-09-14)

#970

The increase will drive away business and customers from the area. It is unreasonable and not everyone will need 2 hours parking. Feels like the people who use the car parks are being ripped off.

Keith Martin (St Neots, 2019-09-14)

#976

I never use car parks because I live centrally and walk everywhere. However, a lot of people I know are finding the charge difficult AND are looking for other places to park. This will cause widespread problems .

Lottie Taylor (St. Neots, 2019-09-14)

#980

It’s ridiculous ! You are driving people away from the high street!

Ann Walsh (Cambs, 2019-09-14)

#985

I object to the rise in parking charges which should be free to all St Neots residents and visitors to the town

Clive Cole (St Neots, 2019-09-14)

#986

With the current online shopping boom these increases will totally kill the retail offering in St. Neots. Yes you will see an increase in revenue for a short time but long term it will seriously affect the town's prosperity. Isn't it James Palmer the major who wants to build and encourage St Neots and other towns in the county this I'm afraid will have a detrimental effect. Please reconsider

Angela Ellmer (St Neots , 2019-09-14)

#990

I would love to see the town encouraging more people to use the facilities it has to offer, and in turn support local businesses.

Reducing charges and or removing any for a quick pop in to a shop, would surely help deter people from using multinational chains free car parks, or stop people parking badly/illegally on the side of roads which cause a lot of congestion and is dangerous for both those in vehicles and pedestrians.

Katie Kitson (Hail Weston, 2019-09-14)

#993

I’m signing this because I want to support local traders in the town, but am unable to regularly come into town to park as the fees are too high. I am limited to once every two weeks and would like to see a return to lower fees

Carol Fenner (St Neots , 2019-09-14)

#994

Removing the 1 hour option is ridiculous and forces people to pay double , most of the time i only spend less than 1 hour , this is just robbery and HDC know that

Paul Colquitt (Little Paxton, St. Neots, 2019-09-14)

#996

I feel it's pure greed to bike up the car parking charges , and a death wish to the shops of St.Neots.

Ali Collins (St.Neots, 2019-09-14)

#999

Why pay to visit a dead shopping area when we can go to Biggleswade or Bedford Retail Outlets and park for free.

Susan Pateman (St.Neots, 2019-09-15)
