Huntingdonshire District Council Parking Fees

Comments

#404

The parking is already ridiculous. The parking fees are damaging our towns

Joely Mestler (Huntingdon, 2019-08-08)

#415

2 hours is not what I want or need when I just pop into town. If this is not reversed I will shop on line or elsewhere

Ian Smith (Huntingdon , 2019-08-08)

#416

Of there greed

Frederick Read (St Neots, 2019-08-08)

#418

I often pop into town just to pick up a prescription so do not want to pay for two hours parking when I’m only using the car park for 20 minutes.

Lisa Howells (Little Paxton, 2019-08-08)

#419

Increasing the 2 hour charge from £1.20 to £1.60 is totally unjustifiable, particularly when there is no 1 hour option availabe

Kurt Cambridge (Wyton, 2019-08-08)

#422

I don’t always need 2 hrs for parking in my local towns. It’s unfair to increase the rates

Michele Sidwell (Houghton, 2019-08-08)

#424

I like 1hr parking for appointments and doing banking

Sylvia Radley (St Neots , 2019-08-08)

#425

I am apalled that the 1 hour parking option has been withdrawn...St neots is a small town and I regularly shop there for under an hour.

gillian butt (little paxton, 2019-08-08)

#426

I have just moved away from an area where the council have done the same thing and it has stopped people going to the high street. Have always been impressed with the parking charges here in comparison

Alison Holmes (Houghton , 2019-08-08)

#429

I regularly use Tebbetts Road car park for less than an hour and do not wish to pay double the fee to park for just twenty minutes!

Hannah Barber (St neots , 2019-08-08)

#432

It is just not fair, another stealth tax

Sue Rodwell Smith (Huntingdon , 2019-08-08)

#433

Far too expensive for a small market town. People won't want to come into the town centre or stay all day affecting already stretched local businesses.

Julie Robinson (St ives, 2019-08-08)

#436

I strongly believe that the proposed changes will mean that there is a lack of short term parking available in St Neots. Personally (and I know I am not the only one) I go into St Neots for approx 20 - 40 mins max and these changes will put me off doing this.
I believe making the Tebbotts road car park to a min of 2 hr charge, will reduce the number of people using St Neots high street

Dawn Greenhalgh (Little Paxton, 2019-08-08)

#440

This is very poorly thought out by HDC. The tebbuts road car park is the closest parking to 2 drs and 2/3 dentists. It is very unfair that people will have to pay the 100% increase to get to a ten minute medical appointment.

Kerry Walsh (St Neots , 2019-08-08)

#452

More money for less time. Dick Turpin wore a mask. This lot don’t.

Lynne Brittany (Huntingdon , 2019-08-08)

#454

A quick pop in to the town is fine when its 80p for 1 hour, even if its a 10-20 min stop
Now that 10-20 mins will cost me more as I have to take out 2 hours parking at £1.60
Now i will have look else where to shop (out of town ) with free parking

Richard Cooper (St. Ives, 2019-08-08)

#455

St.Ives has fewer reasons to visit town centre year on year and aside from visitors most people only want to visit town to bank or visit the doctors or dentists. That is a 1 hour requirement. I will never pay to park in town and have, on occasion circled for 15 minutes before realising I'd be better off going out of town to help my cause rather than pay extra fees on top of my road and council taxes.

Neil Whitaker (Hemingford Grey , 2019-08-08)

#456

I use one particular car park frequently as I’ve been unwell since December and require frequent trips to the drs for bloods or prescriptions. I’m never an hour, but 80p is 80p. Now I have to pay £1.60 for the privilege of being sick.

Alexandra Swales (St Ives, 2019-08-08)

#463

This is a very short sighted attitude, which could have serious consequences for the retailers and other businesses in the town

David Ebdale (Houghton , 2019-08-08)

#468

I don't want to see our town become a ghost town. We need to support our local shops not push shoppers out of the town.

Tracy Searle (St Neots, 2019-08-08)

#475

I rarely go in for over an hour I object to having to pay for 2 hours worth of parking. More amazon shopping it is!

Victoria Neale (Bluntisham , 2019-08-08)

#476

I'm signing because I often use the car park in Tebbutts Road for an hour or less when I have short appointments at the dentist or have short visits to shops. Now I am encouraged to use other car parks with more flexible parking arrangements.

Sally Anne Avery (St Neots, 2019-08-08)

#480

As a regular user of the affected car park, I’m hugely frustrated and disappointed at the removal of 1 hour parking. I don’t see how this can be justified as beneficial to our town. This is the biggest car park in the town centre and it seems to me it’s just a massive money making excercise and in no way representing the needs of the users. I’d be interested to know if there has been any kind of survey carried out to determine how people use the car park and how long for.

Samantha Claussen (St Neots , 2019-08-08)

#481

This is grossly unfair and will have an adverse effect on town businesses and will increase the likelihood of illegal short term parking. It's blindingly obvious that you should be considering actually REDUCING the minimum time to half an hour.

robert hargreaves (huntingdon, 2019-08-08)

#484

I'm against these ridiculous parking charges!

Ashling Jones (Huntingdon , 2019-08-08)

#490

Our council should be supporting its residents return to the high street

Hayley Coulson (St Neots, 2019-08-08)

#492

It’s daylight robbery. For people who have to pop into town as they have little babies for appointments and for essentials it’s ridiculous

Stephanie Baker-Wilmot (St Neots , 2019-08-08)

#493

This affects everyone, and is a 33% increase on people working a full day with no choice but to pay

Frea Richardson (St neots, 2019-08-08)

#495

The increases are not in any way beneficial to the town and are very detrimental

Ray Elmore (Saigon, 2019-08-09)

#497

This is another nail in the coffin for our high streets. We are being forced to pay nearly £2 for what could be a 10 minute “pop into town”. Not all of us have two hours lunch’s to justify the parking charge through the week

Jo Dobson (St Ives, 2019-08-09)

#502

It bad enough now having to find cash to park when you only want to nip to one shop! Please do not remove the one hour parking option

Karen Froment (Cambridge , 2019-08-09)

#503

The town centre is dying because of the charges for parking. It should be free for an hour so people can go in quickly and support the local businesses

David Bell (St neots, 2019-08-09)

#504

Increasing the charges will force people to shop elsewhere, it will not help trade within the town.

Sara Earle (St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#506

We need to encourage people to use our town, the cost of parking will just drive more people to use the out of town retail parks which are free.

Sarah Pankhurst (St neots, 2019-08-09)

#508

I'm signing because I accept that prices increase, but a one hour option has to be included to prevent putting off visitors coming in for a quick shop.

Ed Goodman (St Ives, 2019-08-09)

#511

This will have devastating consequences to town centres and cause irresponsible parking as people look to avoid designated car parks and these fees.

Theresa McCaskie (Cambridgeshire, 2019-08-09)

#512

The charges should remain as they are. Increasing will have a negative affect on St Neots shops

Paul Nicol (St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#514

Please reinstate the one hour parking

Margatey Donalf (St neots, 2019-08-09)

#520

People need to visit the post office, doctor or dentist in town, but they do not need 2 hrs.
Make 1 hr /£1. Easier to get change for that.

Janet Young (St. Neots, 2019-08-09)

#525

The increase in charges are a backwards movement for the town and poorly though out. People now wanting to see a Dr or Nurse at the walk in centre will now has to pay a min. 2 hour charge, is this fair?
The loss of the one hour option in Tebbetts Road must be put back.
HDC should look into and follow examples of other towns that offer free parking for two hours to encourage footfall in the twin centres, all HDC are doing is turning people away.

Ian Payne (St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#528

We need more people visiting our town, putting up the parking fees will drive people away to towns like Bedford where parking is free at weekend

Susan Barker (St Neots , 2019-08-09)

#529

I use to live in st.neots and was born and breed there. Instead of the 1 hour parking being replaced with a min stay of 2 hours. Being back the 1hour and reduce the fee.

Claire Killer (Barton-upon-Humber , 2019-08-09)

#530

I want the option with 1 hour payment !

Alexandru Barbarasa (St.Neots , 2019-08-09)

#532

I’m signing because many people only need a 1 hour slot and a minimum charge of £1.60 is too much. Indeed free parking would be much more of a boost for St Ives. The requirement to enter the number plate is cumbersome and difficult for some people and may induce reluctance to go.

Rosemary Waddingham (Huntingdon , 2019-08-09)

#535

Sometimes popping into town for a few bits, is all I want to do. I don’t want to park - or pay for 2 hours

Carol Hooper (Huntingdon , 2019-08-09)

#536

I am both angry and sad in equal measures that you have seen fit to remove the 1 hour option. This will be yet another nail in the coffin of our high street trading in St Neots. We have just had a new fabulous butchers opened in New Street jyst around the corner from the car part you have just made a minimum of 2 hours parking charge. It is going to make popping to town for fresh meat and bread at the weekend an expensive option. I for one will probably now go elsewhere. How sad I have made thus decision after living here all my life. You will kill our town before you are finished HDC. Shame on you.

Pamela Rook (St neots, 2019-08-09)

#538

At a time when town centres struggle to survive this mean spirited, un-British, action deals another blow to local businesses and wastes yet more taxpayers money. Like many men I do not go into town for long and two hours charges for a few minutes parking, with no refund for unused time, is solved by no visit at all. I am stunned by the wrong headed action of the council. Think again!

Richard Waddingham (Houghton, 2019-08-09)

#540

The people that make these crazy money grabbing descisions please take your heads out of your Arsxs, and look over the parapet, can you really not see this Town is dying in its feet, spend more time thinking of ways to help get footfall into the town, and not the opposite.

Ian Lawes (St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#543

I believe free parking in all town centres will encourage more visitors, who stay longer and visit more often and therefore stimulate a healthy, growing town centre.

Jilly Mole (St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#545

It’s absolutely disgusting charging that amount to park and I never want to go into town for 2 hours all there is are charity shops hairdressers and coffee shops

Vicky Hambleton (Huntingdon, 2019-08-09)

#546

Probably the most counter productive action HDC has ever taken. This will only increase anti-social parking and will cause yet more damage to local traders.

Christine hargreaves (huntingdon, 2019-08-09)

#547

I pop into town for less than an hour and do not wish to pay for more than that! Paying more will only reduce the times I will visit St Ives and Huntingdon.

Helen Jacklin (Huntingdonshire, 2019-08-09)

#551

As well as longer visits into St Neots town for shopping I often pop in for a quick visit to dentist, doctors (as 3 have merged now so are forced to use town centre one), or the bank. To have to pay for 2 hours parking now is outrageous for a 15 min visit and will not encourage me to stay longer on these occasions. This means I will have to park much further away at short stay carparks or drive round trying to find a free place to park.

Susan Mason (Cambridgeshire, 2019-08-09)

#553

You need to encourage footfall in the town, not drive them away.

Hazel Pateman (Eaton socon, 2019-08-09)

#555

I own a shop on the High street and this will affect us very badly. The council appears to be out of touch and in denial of just how bad the High street needs support and FREE parking, not increase in charges.

antoniya norman (St. Neots, 2019-08-09)

#558

Our local town is important to the community it brings people together we should be supporting local retails this will have an impact on visitors their has to be more than just making money

lesley milner (Huntingdon , 2019-08-09)

#563

I think we should not charge more for parking. Shops are already suffering.

Mary Cody (Huntington, 2019-08-09)

#566

Should not have to pay for 2 Hours if you only want to stay for a short time, why not give first 39 minutes free

Sue Chandler (St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#569

I think it is just a con to raise more money - i often pop into town but mainly only use the 1 hour option, might not bother now, along with many others I would think. This could mean shop closures which would equal less revenue in rates!!!!!!!

Alan Barnett (St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#571

Bring back 1hr parking. I’m Disappointed that hunt town council is not doing more to attract people to our Beautiful town. This is in my opinion is a stupid thing to do.

Marie Fairweather (Cambs, 2019-08-09)

#572

The hours parking encourages people to pop into town to go to the bank and other shops, whist not needing to spend longer than they need too. Also encourages people to pay for an hour instead of parking illegally

Joanne Kirkham (St. Neots, 2019-08-09)

#573

The proposed new charges are not well thought through, and will have a grave effect on the plight of small businesses in the town.

Tim Lovett (St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#574

Please reinstate the 1 hour parking . It is ridiculous to try to kill the high street . People will just stay away

Sharon Thompson (St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#582

I use St Neots town car parks regularly but seldom stay more than an hour and so don't use all the time 8ve paid at present.

These changes mean I would have to spend double for the same length of time and so I will stop using he town centre

Ian Worsfold (St Neots, 2019-08-09)

#587

I think the removal of the 1 hour parking stay should be reversed

Fiona Fisher (St.neots, 2019-08-09)

#589

I think the charges are way too expensive, considering St.Ives and Ely have free parking. Free parking or a lower charge would bring people into our town to use our cinema and shops and restaurants. It's disgraceful that our beautiful town is turning into a ghost town with all our shops going elsewhere, with these parking charges no-one will want to come !!

Dawn George (Cambridgeshire, 2019-08-09)

#591

I frequently use the doctors and do not want to pay for two hours of parking for a 10 minute appointment.

Jackie Baines (At neots, 2019-08-09)

#592

It is ridiculous that we can’t have the option if parking for an hour anymore. No wonder people shop online or out of town where shopping is free.

Melica Cutbush (St ives , 2019-08-09)

#593

I'm signing because we have been pushed too far by a pseudo-despotic council that is out of touch with reality. This will be the death knell of St Neots Town Centre.

Andrew Wilson (St. Neots , 2019-08-09)

#595

This is going to kill our town centre even more. Parking charges put people off already, let alone having to pay more!!!!

Kate Coleman (Little Paxton , 2019-08-09)

#596

It's a joke greedy council once again

Sam Argyle (St neots, 2019-08-09)

#598

Its rediculous

Antony Leech (St neots , 2019-08-09)

#599

I disagree with the increase in parking fees high streets are already struggling to survive!

Lorraine Moth (ST. IVES, 2019-08-09)
