Its safe sensible and life saving

(Forres, 2017-01-05)

#5

I previously lived in and still work there, and know how dangerous this stretch of road is.

(Elgin, 2017-01-05)

#8

This busy trunk road separates the town of Forres from its railway station, its industrial estate and various homes on the north of the A96

(Forres, 2017-01-05)

#9

Forres was home before I joined forces, it needs keeping safe

(Ripon, 2017-01-05)

#10

I live in a wheelchair ,have crossed the road many times putting myself in danger every time

(Forres, 2017-01-05)

#12

To invest so much on a new railway station which people can not cross safely to is ridiculous. How are the visually impaired meant to get there safely?

(Forres, 2017-01-05)

#13

I visit forres at least 6 times a year with my family and a croos over the A96 all the time. It really needs a cross between station and the town for people's to get across road safe and sound

(Glasgow, 2017-01-05)

#14

WE have been asking for this for many years it is essential.

(Forres, 2017-01-05)

#17

We should be encouraging the use of public transport so to have a dangerous crossing in the way of accessing Forres train station is ludicrous. A safe controlled crossing point is much needed please.

(Forres, 2017-01-05)

#20

Its a matter of life n death, its that simple. A safe crossing of a major trunk road is essential

(Forres, 2017-01-05)

#23

To encourage more people to use the station and railway with a new station and increased journeys is fantastic. To do so asking them to cross the increasingly busy A96 is silly. Elderly, infirm, disabled and drunk people get on and off the train at Forres every day.

(Forres, 2017-01-05)

#24

this controlled pedestrian crossing is vital for safe access to Forres

(Forres, 2017-01-05)

#25

I travel past that area on a regular basis. It is currently dangerous for people to cross but when the new station is built and passenger levels reach predictions then more people will be put at risk. Why take the chance of people being killed? Doesm
n't it make better sense to alleviate that possibility?

(Elgin, 2017-01-05)

#26

The by-pass was built when i was at school in Forres, and still visit regularly. That is, and always was, a dangerous road to cross as a pedestrian. Deliberately trying to increase pedestrian access by upgrading the station and rail links without upgrading the safety of those pedestrians is a missed opportunity. Build the crossing, please. Don't wait for the inevitable accident to happen first.

(Santpoort Noord, 2017-01-05)

#27

I'd like to be able to catch a train without dodging traffic as I have to now.

(Forres, 2017-01-05)

#28

My parents and my partners children live in Forres. I worry about them crossing this road not only to get to the train station but to get to Lidle and Mackenzie and cruickshanks. This is a very busy road and it is only going to get busier.

(Elgin, 2017-01-06)

#31

I am concerned for the safety of all.

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#32

I feel that a controlled crossing is required on the a96 for the Forres station as this is an extremely busy road, with fast moving traffic. Pedestrians (including the elderly and unnacompanied older children) require a safe point to cross the carriageway. According to ROSPA 'An analysis of vehicle speed in pedestrian fatalities in Great Britain found that 85% of pedestrians killed when struck by cars or car-derived vans, died in collision that occurred at impact speeds below 40mph'. Surely it is unacceptable to wait until there is a fatality or serious injury at the current crossing point before there is a controlled crossing or bridge put in place. Considering the projected increase in pedestrian activity which the new station will attract I think a controlled crossing is essential.

(Findhorn, 2017-01-06)

#34

It needs done!

(Fife, 2017-01-06)

#36

this crossing has been needed since the bypass cut the route to the station on it's construction. As the rail usage increases so will the inherent problem of a fatality

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#37

It's important to have a safe option for pedestrians to get to and from the rail station as the current situ has too many near misses

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#39

There is a crossing at the Elgin side of the bypass and there should have been another one built when Lidl opened! It makes sense to have one for a busy rail station as well!

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#43

Safety awareness to everyone who uses this road, motorist, cyclists & pedestrians...

(Inverness, 2017-01-06)

#44

It's a very busy road and a safe crossing is essential.

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#45

I regularly use the station and have to cross the A96. This is a dangerous pastime without a controlled crossing point. This is an ideal time to make good some of the mistakes.

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#46

Its a fast dangerous road and with no controlled crossing folk take their lives in their hands getting across! ( I no longer live there but return often)

(Ryde, 2017-01-06)

#48

Making the crossing of A96 safer for disabled, blind people crossing the road

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#53

it is important that there is a safe way to get to the station

(Forres , 2017-01-06)

#54

If Scotrail can afford to upgrade the station then they need to consider the folk who will be using it!

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#57

It is ludicrous not to offer safe passage across a main trunk road.

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#61

It's ridculous there is no crossing over the busy a96 with so many people using the rail network! Trying to get people to use publication?

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#65

My daughter lives in Forres and I use the train when I go to the airport in Aberdeen

(Goderich, 2017-01-06)

#66

My mother in law often has to cross the a96 for shopping or the train. Some times she has had my young children with her. Even with traffic lights the road is too dangerous as people will light race and at 60mph will be going too fast to stop safely.

(Aberdeen, 2017-01-06)

#68

The A96 is a busy trunk road & the powers-that-be are forever banging on about encouraging more people to use public transport. It's great that Forres train station is being upgraded, however, it's basic common sense to provide a crossing to the station that's safe & cosiderate for both pedestrians and road users alike to safely access the towns newest amenity.

(Stirling , 2017-01-06)

#69

I regularly use the station. It needs a crossing, the speed limit is often exceeded and the current arrangement is not suitable.

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#70

It's also dangerous for motorists!

(Rafford, 2017-01-06)

#71

Safety of pedestrians is paramount & should never be compromised, especially not on the basis of accident statistics being used as a decision maker. You cannot put a price on a life just to save money!

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#72

Of health and safety.

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#73

I know how difficult and dangerous it is - not necessarily going to station but just crossing from one unpaved side to another. The whole concept is a joke!

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#77

We need a safer crossing over to the railway station i use train alot i have done for years crossing over that road can be quite dangerous especially if u have young kids Traffic lights are not going to help crossing that busy road

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#83

Though I stay in Elgin I belong to Forres and the new bypass has made it dangerous to cross the road to the station

(Elgin, 2017-01-06)

#84

I feel there is a need for a proper crossing for safety reasons

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#85

Although I have moved away now I lived very near this part of the A9 and it was busy then. The situation has not improved and there is now more traffic.

(ANDOVER, 2017-01-06)

#86

Lack of a safe crossing is madness. It is only a matter of time before somebody is seriously injured or killed.

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#87

Forres needs a safe way to Cross the A96

(Forres, 2017-01-06)

#90

We need a safe place to cross the bypass

(Forres , 2017-01-06)

#95

My disabled sister has major problems to safely access the station

(Elgin, 2017-01-06)

#96

It's dangerous!

(findhorn, 2017-01-06)

#99

Would you please build an overpass from Tytler over the A96? My son lives there and he uses the train, and we leave our car at his house and walk to the train. It is dangerous crossing the A96. Thank you.

(Alves, 2017-01-06)

#100

signing by reason of safety

(forres, 2017-01-06)

#103

There should be a safe crossing for pedestrians to cross the A96 going to the station

(Forres, 2017-01-07)

#104

A safe pedestrian crossing between the station and town centre is essential. It's not a "nice to have" option.

(Forres, 2017-01-07)

#105

I'm a non driver with three small children. Getting to the station is already difficult and this is even less convenient and just as unsafe.

(Forres, 2017-01-07)

#106

Pedestrian safety is an essential, not a luxury. Delaying the building of a safe crossing place is short sighted. Additionally, enabling safe crossing if the 'green' option too as it encourages people to walk to the station rather than driving.

(Kinloss, 2017-01-07)

#109

Someone is gonna get hurt trying to get across the road

(Forres , 2017-01-07)

#118

I grew up in Waterford farm and go back regularly with my son. We need a safe crossing to access the town.

(Glasgow, 2017-01-07)

#121

Many people use the railway Station and the bypass is a very busy road. Can't say I would like to be struck by a car going 40 MPH.

(Forres, 2017-01-07)

#130

I need to cross this road in a wheelchair and one day I won't be lucky.

(Forres, 2017-01-08)

#136

you have already put a cycle crosing on the elgin side why not a pedestrian crossing to serve the train station on what is a very busy road.

(forres, 2017-01-08)

#138

Walking and cycling is used by many to reach the station but crossing the bypass can prove challenging. Going between Tytler Street and the station often involves running (which is not always an option for the elderly) or alternatively a long wait on the side of a busy road (which would be hazardous for anyone with children). Therefore, a safe crossing is essential to ensure safety for all.

(Forres, 2017-01-09)

#139

I want a safe crossing

(Forres , 2017-01-09)

#140

I have to walk across the busy and fast A96 to get to the train station. I do not think traffic lights are the answer but a ver well lit underpass may be the way to go.

(Forres, 2017-01-10)

#141

I support a proper crossing to the station.

(Forres, 2017-01-11)

#146

this plan should have never been put in place without concern for public safety.

(Forres, 2017-01-13)

#148

I know how fast moving some traffic can be along the stretch of road despite the speed limit so safety measures need to be take to prevent any incidents.

(Forres, 2017-01-13)

#150

I use the train everyday and cross A96 in the dark regularly. Anything that keeps pedestrians safe is welcome

(Elgin, 2017-01-14)

#156

Many potential passengers will access the station as pedestrians and require easy and safe access to the facilities.
Dodging traffic on the A96 is NOT an option!
I am astounded that the government agencies involved in this project have taken such an irresponsible approach and hope that a scheme for proper safe access to the station for pedestrians will be devised as soon as possible.

(Derby, 2017-01-18)

#157

A96 at this point is a very busy dangerous pedestrian crossing

(yew tree cottage, dyke nurseries, 2017-01-18)

#158

This is already a dangerous crossing which is planned to get busier with the excellent new rail facilities.

(Forres, 2017-01-19)

#164

I always access the rail station on foot. Dragging luggage across A96 is getting more difficult as I get older.

(Forres, 2017-04-06)

#165

The safety of the public is at risk.

(forres, 2017-09-17)
