I have completed all of my dofe awards up to gold and believe that it is a great opportunity for the youth that could become unavailable for those that cannot afford to take part in, what was for me, a life changing experience

(Kent, 2016-12-07)

#11

I participated in the DofE bronze award and found that it helped to create a more rounded individual from my old self. It would be a shame for future youths to miss out on such an amazing opportunity!

(Chatham, 2016-12-07)

#14

Doe is a fantastic award which all 3 of my children have participated in and this has enriched not only their lives but that of those they have served through their volunteering. What a shame that this funding is being cut when Doe has been a shining star for Medway,Which I have witnessed first hand at the many awards presentation's I have attended over the years. Think again please Medway councillors. .. this award is really life changing for many of the youngsters who participate!

(Rochester, 2016-12-07)

My son don his DOFE, he loved every minute. It would be such a shame if the children of the future didn't get the benefit of this worthy cause.

(SE london, 2016-12-07)

our youth need something to challenge them and the DoE has helped so many children across the UK it will be devastating if it stops.

My daughter has gained a lot from participating in D of E and it would be a shame if she could not continue

(Gillingham , 2016-12-08)

Medway DofE is giving young people in a underprivileged community an opportunity to learn skills for life. It supports Medway Council's programme for active and healthy living. The young people are giving something back by volunteering. The funding is value for money.

(Rochester , 2016-12-08)

#45

As a volunteer for Medway DofE I see the work that is done and the idea of this not existing is devastating for young people in Medway. Prices will go up to take part which most will simply not be able to afford! This goes against the key principles of the award!

(Maidstone , 2016-12-08)

#48

My granddaughter loves being part of DofE and she has gained a lot of confidence through it.

(Chatham, 2016-12-08)

#51

2 of my 3 children have completed this fantastic award and it would be a great shame to lose this important life skill for future generations.

(Chatham, 2016-12-08)

#52

I'm signing as I firmly believe the experience is overwhelmingly positive for Medway's youth and worth fighting for.

(Rochester, 2016-12-08)

#54

For a relatively small amount of annual funding young lives can be transformed in An area of The UK that needs it .

(Rochester , 2016-12-08)

#55

This is a valuable extra curricular that allows those of both academic and non academic achievement to further enhance practical skills that can be applied both in the classroom and in life. It also boosts UCAS points to enable the less fortunate to gain entry to better university's thus promoting social mobility.

(Kent, 2016-12-08)

#57

DoE always has been one of the best schemes for people of all ages but particularly the young ....

(Chatham, 2016-12-08)

#60

I do not agree with the cancellation of these events for Medway, so many younger people will miss out on opportunities that are proven to benefit and enhance them as people.

(Rainham, 2016-12-08)

#61

I did the Bronze and Silver DofE awards and they were so fun, I am hoping to continue with my Gold at the beginning of next year and I hope that the opportunity will be available to many other young people for years to come

(Rochester, 2016-12-08)

#62

It's a great scheme and encourages people to achieve

(Dartford, 2016-12-08)

#65

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is an amazing opportunity for young people to develop essential life-long skills and to understand the importance of volunteering within a community and the impact it can have on that community, as well as show interest and enthusiasm outside of the classroom.

(Gillingham, 2016-12-08)

#70

DofE is essential for schools in medway

(Kent, 2016-12-08)

#74

Want to save save the DoE scheme in Medway.

(Medway, 2016-12-08)

#77

DofE offers young people fantastic opportunities that are not available elsewhere. To be cutting funding of this at a time of intense concern regarding the health and wellbeing of young people is ludicrous. DofE offers friendship, new and diverse experiences, exercise, team skills and freedom from electronic devises - all of which are identified as contributing to improved wellbeing. Organisations are searching for solutions to the current crisis in young people's wellbeing, why would they make this valuable resource less accessible now??

(Rainham Kent, 2016-12-08)

#78

DofE is too good an opportunity for young people to cut.

(Herne Bay, 2016-12-08)

#82

It's a great thing to go on a CV and a great way to gain new skills

(Rochester, 2016-12-08)

#85

I believe that DOE plays an imperative part in forming healthy lives. The impact it has for the greater good should be encouraged and recoups any cost in the long run, far out weighing any initial costs. The DOE should be accessible to every child, wherever they are, whoever they are, whatever background- without financial impact to the child and their families. Schools should be congratulated for wanting to run DOE and should not have to pay for providing such an excellent opportunity for our young people. We reap what we sow!

(Gravesend, 2016-12-08)

#87

My Niece has completed bronze and silver in the Kent area. It is a fantastic learning experience.

(Northfleet, 2016-12-08)

#88

I believe DofE is a great experience for people of all ages. I myself have completed DofE and thoroughly enjoyed it and I learnt many skills which are essential for the future. Not only is DofE great but also educational , for example, it helps us to use maps. DofE should definitely be funded for as in my opinion it is essential and a great opportunity for everyone and I am sure many agree.

(Gillingham, 2016-12-08)

#93

I have completed DofE and it is very benifical for all! It really boosted my confidence and extended my skills.

#117

A special person is doing Gold, and needs dofe to keep going to complete an amazing few years!

(Gillingham , 2016-12-08)

#124

Cutting funding to DofE Medway would be an absolute disgrace to the youth. The benefits I received for participating in the award was substantial, and I can honestly say I'd be utterly disappointed if the award was to fade out within Medway.

(Gillingham, 2016-12-08)

#125

I'm signing because I am apart of the Youth Panel and I would hate to see it not exist.

(Gillingham, 2016-12-08)

#127

I believe that the DofE supports and engages young people from myriads of backgrounds. Developing life skills, team work and sociability. My sons were part of DofE and had thoroughly enjoyed being associated with them.

(Maidstone, 2016-12-08)

#135

Doing the DofE was a wonderful experience. Though I did not manage to complete it I thoroughly enjoyed the activities I took part in and would love the DofE to still be around when my daughters old enough to take part.

(Chatham , 2016-12-08)

#140

I've done my bronze and silver DofE and am now embarking on my gold , I loved every minute of it and think it has helped shape me as a person , the great thing about doing it through medway is everyone can afford it and I'm now using this as an opportunity to stay in touch with friends .DofE is so important to so many of us , the medway staff our excellent please don't take away this once in a life time experience from so many young people

(Kent, 2016-12-08)

#151

This scheme gave both of my children the chance to do things you don't normally get to learn. Please, don't stop,it Medway

(Chatham, 2016-12-08)

#152

My daughter is currently working towards her Gold Award so I have seen first hand what young people have to gain from schemes like DofE. As a tax payer I would much prefer my taxes to go to support the DofE than some council function.

(Rainham, 2016-12-08)

#156

Young people need our support

(Rochester, 2016-12-08)

#158

My grandchildren live in the Medway area and one of them has already signed up for the DOFE. It would be amazing if it is kept open for all children in Medway.

(Courlay, 2016-12-08)

#163

My daughter has gained much from the DofE program and has now started her Gold award. Through DofE volunteering she started on her Bronze award she continues to contribute to the local disabled youth club for now approx 4 years. The expeditions have taught her to appreciate the outdoors and gain a real sense of adventure. DofE has increased her confidence and made her more rounded person.

(Gillingham , 2016-12-08)

#165

The scheme enables youngsters!

(Rochester, 2016-12-08)

#178

it is so important for young people.A very senior manager from sure start went to Buckingham palace the other day and spoke to the prince about how important these are for inclusion with young people. They really cannot stop, our young people are OUR future.

(london, 2016-12-08)

#179

The DofE award has brought out skills in me and helped me to help other people. Everyone should have the opportunity to partake in the scheme.

(Rochester , 2016-12-08)

#184

I believe DOE encourages young people to be part of our community

(Rochester, 2016-12-08)

#191

My grand children are sea scouts and want the chance to complete their DofE awards as do many other of their friends. Besides which it gives our youth the chance to become valuable members of our communities rather than hanging around in gangs on street corners

(gillingham , 2016-12-08)

#197

As both a volunteer for Medway DofE and as an award holder I've seen, first hand, the positive impact that taking part in the award scheme has on young people and the communities that they interact with.

Completing their award gives young people the chance to gain a range of new skills and qualifications, to encounter new experiences and meet different people, and offers them opportunities that they quite simply wouldn't have if not for their participation in the award.

Taking the award outside of the Council would risk reducing the availability of the scheme especially to the many young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in Medway. It would massively reduce the number of voluntary hours provided by both adults and participants. It would mean less young people taking up sports and skills outside of the school environment. All for the sake of, what is in the grand scheme of things, a relatively small amount of money.

(Chatham, 2016-12-08)

#199

I'm signing as a mother to young children, who feels this is a wonderful opportunity for them, when they come of age to participate.

(Rochester , 2016-12-08)
