I’m in Santorini right now and as I was walking down the steps to Amoudi Bay, I witnessed the abuse of these poor donkeys / mules / horses. There are deep gashes on the bridge of their noses from the chains. This is abuse. This is sick and unnecessary. Locals and tourists alike don’t want to ride these poor animals and contribute to the mistreatment. This must end now. And make sure they aren’t homed with the men who profited from their “taxi” services. I hope to see them rehabilitated and then set free or at least roam in a nice open area where they are loved and fed.

It breaks my heart when I travel and I see animals being exploited and used to carry heavy items and people, often times in the hot sun & going uphill. They are powerless to prevent this abuse and cannot choose to get away. This can be years and sometimes even decades of suffering so humans can make money off of them and use them.

I went to Hydra and was horrified to see the weight the donkeys were forced to carry. I didn't see any water for them and they were forced to stand in the sun. This has to stop.

In this day and age, animal cruelty should NOT exist!... Unfortunately due to people like you still wondering this earth, this matter still exists and beautiful and helpless animals are being treated disgustingly!
These poor animals should be treated with respect,kindness and love, not beaten and forced to carry exorbitant amounts of fat tourists for YOUR convenience and the tourists entertainment! It's appalling from both you and the tourists that still support you stupid small minded nothing's in this world.
Stop and take a food look at these beautiful babies and see the sadness in their eyes and how much they are hurting. Please foe the love of God, put a stop to this cruelty.

I can see how warm it is for the horses in the direct sun all day and I have not once seen the owners give them water during my 10 day stay at Hydra island. They carry very heavy loads of goods and lazy tourists with their travel luggage all day, relentless work for these poor animals. Just because a tradition of using donkey/horses for transportation has been here forever, does not mean it’s right. We are more evolved than to treat animals badly, please stop this torture.
