40mph Speed Limit between Henfield and Woods Mill

2021-10-14 10:46:37

Pleased to advise that the Traffic Regulation Order to implement a 40mph speed has scored highly against the WSCC validation criteria, and I understand has now been passed for consideration and selection at WSCC Cabinet level. Not all Change Orders are selected, but if approved, costs would fall into next years budget, so sometime after April 2022 the work on design and implementation could start. We shall know more in November, but very encouraging news indeed.

40mph speed limit progress

2021-07-19 18:39:59

200 signatures now. WSCC are placing speed loops before and after the bend, and also opposite Henfield Business Park. Strangely (to me anyway), to meet the requirements for a 40mph limit, the average speed has to be BELOW 42mph. For a 50mph limit, it has to be BELOW 52 mph. Other factors influence the decision, such as number of accidents, fatalities and road features, but the data from the speed loops will be key. So good progress, although outcome not certain yet. Thanks again for ongoing support and interest, and also to the Henfield Parish Council and WSCC for pushing this forward.

40mph speed limit petition update

2021-07-08 12:33:55

Thank you to all for your support. I have been able to raise a Traffic Regulation Order Request to WSCC using the petition as evidence of community support for change. Henfield Parish Council are supportive, as is our County Councillor.

WSCC  now have a duty to consult police and other bodies and respond. This may take months, so I intend to leave the petition live to accumulate further signatures, and keep up the pressure for change.

Thank you again, and please continue to make your friends and acquaintances aware of this petition.
